Chapter 26 Chapter 26
Selena
I walked inside, slowly.
“I..I was out for lunch.” I stuttered, trying to ignore the way his leg stretched strongly, and apart.
How good will it feel to go closer to him, enter the space his legs made, and then…
Something was seriously wrong with me.
I cleared my throat. “Hm, boss, when did you get here? You should have called for me.” I said, my voice almost trembling.
The thought of him being alone here with my stuff sent chills down my bones.
He looked around, and then his gaze fixed on me.
Something was different today. His gaze was still lazy towards me, but there was something more, something I couldn’t tell exactly, more like he could see me, wholly.
He stood up.
Theodore was a tall man, I have never been accurate about height, but beside him, I was almost little, just a bit above his stomach. I noticed this when he cleaned my tears the other day..
But what made him stand more apart was his sexy masculine body.
He took a step towards me, and I wondered how he would look under his perfect suit.
They said mafia bosses were designed with tattoos. Was he one of them? Where was it placed?
“I love how your eyes are drawn to my body, Selena. I didn’t know you were that way.”
My face flushed red, my eyes darting to his shoes.
“No, I wasn't looking at your body, I was just staring at your shoes. Lord, they must be expensive, how much is it? I could get it for my brother.” I laughed awkwardly, words after words flowing out of my mouth, adding to my embarrassment.
I just have to make a fool of myself. Who would believe such talk of an excuse?
But looking up, my breath froze.
There was a little smile on his face. It was little that if I blinked again, I was sure it would be gone. And God, his face lit up so beautifully.
Now he was in front of me, I hiccuped.
“Your face is all red. Don’t tell me the room temperature is hot now.”
Yes, you are hot. I hiccupped again, my eyes fixed to his.
I really need to snap out of it. I moved sideways, wanting to move away, to escape, but his hand held me back, blocking my path.
“What..what are you doing?” I stuttered. The sound of my voice added another layer of embarrassment.
“What does it look like?” Now he leaned down, his hand still holding my arm.
It was burning, sending my skin into flames. Not the hot flame, but a sweet flame.
“I’m only speaking to my girlfriend, I can’t do that?”
“You…you..” I moved back, away from him, my face burning hot.
“Sir, please refrain from saying that, what if someone hears you, and thinks we are truly dating,”
‘Who could Selena. You were in a fucking room, you bumbass. You just have to embarrass yourself more.’
His face didn’t change as he looked at me moving away from his reach.
Instead, his hands found their way into his pocket. And God I must say he looks so great in that stance.
“But we are.”
“What?” I yelled, covering my mouth after. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to yell, but..but we aren’t in a relationship..”
“So, you don’t need my protection?” Again, he was in front of me, tossing my senses, his body and mine almost touching.
“Do you really want your ex-boyfriend claiming you back?”
“No.”
“Then do you need my protection?”
“Yes,” I breathe softly, my eyes locked to him.
God, why do I suddenly feel so useless under his gaze? My heart has never beaten this fast, not even for Noah, so why?
“Then that’s it, Selena.”
His hand moved to my face, rough, yet so soft.
He held my face, half of my face covered with his hand, and I sighed, leaning more into his touch.
His face was so close to mine, his breath swallowing me whole. I moved closer by an inch towards his body.
I wanted to feel him, there was a stronger need to.
The twisting feeling in my stomach wanted more, and just his hand on my face wasn’t enough. So I moved closer, closer.
“From now on, you are mine to protect from Noah or anyone else.”
I nodded.
I nodded??
I snapped out of whatever fantasies I was drawn into, and moved away from him, his touch. Freeing myself from his shackles.
‘His? More like your shackle.’
Theodore Mateo was dangerous. He was dangerous to society, but most importantly, he was dangerous to me.
“You amused me, Selena.”
Yes, I do. I amuse myself too.
I avoided him totally, moving away from him to my desk. Allowing the desk to create a barrier between us.
“Hm, I have a question concerning the building, the one owned by a grandpa, I—.”
“Don’t bother yourself with it. It’s taken care of.”
How I wanted to ask, but the look he gave says not to dare. I will just have to ask Valeria about it.
“Is there anything I can help you with?” I asked after, trying to act unaffected after his reply.
“Hm.” His hands went into his pockets, and then he took out a key and a car.
“These are for you.” His hand stretched towards me, his palm opened, waiting for me to take it.
Why was he handing that to me? It wasn’t my monthly pay yet.
“Why are you giving me that? Is it from the company’s…” I was already in front of him.
“No. It’s from me. Your car isn’t fit to be my girlfriend.”
I narrowed my eyes, stopping myself from glaring at him. His words rubbed me the wrong way.
The excitement of seeing them gone. “I’m not your real girlfriend so you don’t have to give me those. I already feel bad as you aren’t gaining anything from this, so I won’t be accepting it, please take it back.” My voice was bold, my gaze stern.
I was surely digging my grave.
“You are rejecting it?”
It was just a question, but why does it sound like that? Like I was going to be murdered. Maybe I was, because his gaze hardened.
But that doesn’t stop me from the next word. “Yes, sir.”
