“How do I look?
Robert?”
Lucille asked him, walking a little stiffly.
This was a color Lucille usually liked, making her look gentle and tender.
“It’s very beautiful.”
Robert looked at his sister and commented, “But… it’s far from what I’m looking for.
He shot a glare at Helen.
“The most dazzling queen in the room!”
Helen said to the assistant, “Bring out that red vintage gown.‘
”
The moment the gown was brought out, even Lucille was stunned.
The red was so beautiful…

It wasn’t a gaudy red, but a slightly deep, vintage, noble, and elegant red. With its low–cut design, she couldn’t imagine how dazzling it would be with a ruby necklace.
Robert nodded, his eyes finally showing satisfaction.
Just as he was about to say “Go try it on,” a voice came from the doorway. “Oh, this gown is so beautiful! Nicole Wallace, can I buy this one?”
Someone was heading straight for the dress.
Maricela
Of all the people to run into…
The moment Maricela saw Lucille, she froze too. A million thoughts raced through her mind. before she put on a fake smile. “Lucille, you’re here too.
But Lucille only saw the person behind Maricela: Nicole, Harlan’s wife.

She and Nicole had had little contact over the past five years, the number of times they’d met could be counted on one hand. But Nicole was the one who had hugged her when she was sad
It was that one time she went to the office shortly after getting married, when she personally heard Cedrick say he lost all interest the moment he saw her legs, heartbroken, she turned and ran out of the company, only to almost collide with Nicole at the elevators.
At that time. Nicole wasn’t married to Harlan yet, just an employee at the company, she steadied her, gave her a hug, saw the tears in her evasive eyes, and asked if she wanted to go sit in the company breakroom for a bit.
Of course, she didn’t go, but Nicole gave her a piece of chocolate without saying a word, and the custom wrapper on it read: Be happy every day.
Later on, she would occasionally run into Nicole at Helen’s place, but they would just nod, pick up their clothes, and leave, every time, Nicole would give her a gentle smile.
It was just a smile, but it was one of the few kindnesses she received during her five–year
marriage.
That’s why she could never dislike Nicole.
But, why would Nicole be shopping for clothes with Maricela?
And right now, Lucille gave Nicole a gentle smile, just like how Nicole used to treat her.
Maricela, however, then said to her assistant, “This dress, I want to try it on. Thank you.”
Maricela knew this shop only served regulars. She had been turned away here before, but people are strange, the more you can’t have something, the more you want it.
It was just a designer shop in Seaston. She could buy anything she wanted from the top luxury brands, and some little designer was putting on airs?
As luck would have it, Harlan’s wife was also a regular customer at this shop. So, today, she had Harlan ask his wife to bring her along
She had only been to this shop once The staff probably wouldn’t recognize her, right?
Of course, the assistant remembered her, but she just kept a smile on her face. “I’m sorry, ma’am, but this dress is already taken.”
