Chapter 281
Seeing Mylee again, Lucille actually felt a sense of warmth.
It was almost funny when she thought about it.
She’d been married for five years, and in that house, the person she was closest to wasn’t her husband, but the housekeeper…
Still, it was a good thing. For this one month back, if Mylee was free and willing, she could indeed come back. But if Mylee already had other work, she couldn’t hold her up for just a short
month.
So, she asked Mylee first. Mylee, of course, readily said she had time and was willing to come back, which put Lucille at ease. She was used to Mylee anyway.
Originally, after picking up Mylee, they were supposed to go their separate ways. Lucille and Robert would take Mylee back to the hospital room, and Cedrick would leave.
But Cedrick didn’t move. He just stood there and called out to her, “Lucille…”
Lucille sighed to herself and said to Robert, “Let me have a few words with him.”
Seeing Robert’s worried expression, she shook her head. “It’s fine, just a few words.”
“Okay, I’ll wait for you here.”

Robert had no intention of going upstairs.
“You…” Although Cedrick was annoyed by Robert’s lack of tact, he couldn’t show his anger in front of Lucille.
“Come over here.”
Lucille walked a few steps away, out of the elevator lobby, and into the small garden outside the hospital building.
Cedrick followed her, and the two were finally alone, face to face.
“Lucille.”
He forced a smile. “When is Grandma getting out of the hospital?

TII tidy up the house, and I’ll come pick her up then.”
Lucille stared at him. “We’re not going back.”
Cedrick’s face turned pale. “Wh… what?
If you’re back, where will you stay if not at home?
Lucille, are you still angry?

It’s okay. You can live at home, don’t talk to me, just pretend I don’t exist. Talk to me whenever you feel like it.”
Lucille watched him silently. For now, she didn’t want to tell him that she was only back for a month and would be leaving soon. She was afraid he’d cause some trouble and prevent her from leaving
“Lucille.”
He said. “I know you’re angry, but we have a whole lifetime. Slowly, you’ll understand that I never really thought about leaving you. I want to spend my whole life with you.”
“Cedrick.”
Lucille remained calm and composed. “And I really do want to divorce you.
Grandma should be discharged in five days. Once she’s out, we’ll go straight to City Hall and get the divorce finalized. I left the divorce agreement in the drawer. I’m sure you’ve seen it. If you have any objections to the terms in the agreement, you can still bring them up.”
“I have an objection. I don’t…”
“Cedrick.”
Lucille cut him off. “If you don’t want to go to City Hall, that’s fine. I’ll just file online. Either way, we’ve been married for five years. I don’t plan on making this hard for you, so don’t make it hard for me. Let’s part on good terms.
Lucille even took out her phone right then and there, ready to file online.
It was only then that Cedrick believed she was serious about the divorce.
He grabbed her hand. “Wait.”
Lucille looked at him.

” I’ll go back and look at the agreement. ”
He held her hand, suddenly refusing to let go. “Is it because of him?”
Why that question again?
Lucille didn’t understand and looked at him in confusion.
Cedrick looked at Robert. “Is it because of this man that you want to divorce me?
Do you think he’s better than me?”
So that’s what he meant….
Lucille shook his hand off. “Cedrick, don’t assume everyone has such a dirty mind!
He’s my

Before she could finish, Cedrick cut her off anxiously. “How long have you even known him?
