But she didn’t cry out loud. Her face rested on Robert’s shoulder, and tears flowed endlessly like an open floodgate, soaking his clothes.
Aydan watched the siblings, knowing he shouldn’t be thinking this way right now, but he couldn’t help but envy Robert for being able to carry her and comfort her so openly.
Lucille had never cried so unrestrainedly in front of someone else like this before.
She never got her parents‘ love, so naturally, she had no right to cry in front of them. She would never cry in front of her grandma either, for fear of making her worry.
During her five–year marriage to Cedrick, she didn’t dare to cry because she was afraid of upsetting him, afraid of adding to his emotional burden. All she wanted was to make him happy…
By the time they got to the local police station, she had completely composed herself.
She told the police what had happened, confirming that her grandma had returned to Seaston, and with her parents.
She was actually still a bit worried that since her grandma had returned with her own son, daughter–in–law, and grandson, it might not meet the criteria for a police report. But she stressed that she couldn’t contact her parents or her brother.
The police helped her check the flight records and confirmed that the four of them had indeed arrived in Seaston. Lucille wrote down all four phone numbers for the police and tried to contact them again, but all four were still unreachable.
In the end, the police filed the report and promised to help find them, telling her to go home and wait. They would contact her immediately with any news.
Knowing the police would help look for them, a glimmer of hope rose in Lucille’s heart. After thanking the police, they prepared to leave, intending to find her own ways to help in the search.
Outside the police station, Lucille thought they would hail a cab, but unexpectedly, a car was waiting in a parking spot by the road.
Seeing them come out, a middle–aged man got out of the car, called out, “Mr. Cruz,” and said, “Please, get in.”
Lucille didn’t understand who “Mr. Cruz” was, but she saw Robert respond.

Robert explained to her apologetically, “It’s a long story, I’ll tell you later. I’m Robert, and I’m also Leo Robertson. Though I’d rather be Robert. This is Mr. Quinn. You can call him Uncle Edwin Quinn.”
“Let’s go get something to eat first, then we’ll take Aydan home to rest. As for Lucille and mc…” He sought Lucille’s opinion, “I was originally planning to stay at Grandma’s this time, but given the situation, it’s more convenient to stay in the city to look for them. So, Lucille, would you be okay with staying at a hotel with me?”
Lucille nodded.
As for eating, Lucille really had no appetite at all.
Robert served her a bowl of rice and urged her to eat, but she just picked at it one grain at a time, her eyes not even focused on the food.
Robert sighed. “Lucille, you need to eat to have the strength to find Grandma.”
After speaking, he even asked Aydan, “Don’t you agree?”
“Yeah.”
Aydan quickly said, “Lucille, if we find Grandma, she’ll be heartbroken to see you so thin.”
Lucille managed a faint smile. “I know you all want me to eat more, but I…” She paused. “Okay, I’ll eat.
In the end, she finished the small bowl.
Afterwards, as Robert had arranged, they took Aydan home first.
“Lucille.”
Aydan was too embarrassed to go to the hotel with them, but he was very concerned about Grandma’s whereabouts, “You have to let me know if there’s any news about Grandma. I’ll do my best to find her, too.”
Aydan actually felt very guilty because his sister visited Grandma often, but something still happened to her right under their noses.
