Cedrick’s expression turned thunderous. “Lucille!
Do you even hear yourself?”
“Perfectly!”
A faint bitterness tinged Lucille’s eyes. “Aren’t you filthy?
So, Aydan, let’s go. No need to dirty your hands over trash.“.
Cedrick’s face twisted with fury. “Lucille!”
Lucille wanted to leave – both to escape these two and to prevent Aydan and Cedrick from fighting. Aydan was porcelain now; what if he got chipped or cracked and couldn’t dance?
But Aydan refused. He demanded Maricela apologize.
Lucille shook her head at him. It wasn’t necessary. She no longer cared if people called her a cripple. What mattered was Aydan absolutely couldn’t be crippled today!
Aydan insisted, “Lucille, I know what you’re thinking. You’re worried I’ll get hurt and can’t dance. But some things must be done. If I get bruised today, our dance drama has an understudy. This apology must happen today!
There is no B choice!”
Yet Lucille knew Cedrick would never make Maricela apologize.
Sure enough, Cedrick’s response escalated the conflict.
“Young Master Hurley,” Cedrick spat, “We’ve talked about settling this for ages. Today ends it!”
He then turned to Lucille. “After I knock him down, you’re coming home with me!”
Aydan cracked his knuckles, voice venomous. “Mr. Maynard. For that alone, you’ll get extra!
This fight today? It’s purely Aydan expressing his disgust for you. Lucille has nothing to do with it!”
Lucille isn’t some trophy; win and she comes with me, lose and she goes with you–she’s her own person!
Please respect her!
At some point, a crowd had gathered around them, mostly Chinese. After listening for so long, the onlookers probably knew what was happening. Hearing Aydan’s words, they all applauded him.
Cedrick’s face was tight as steel, “Stop the nonsense!”

“And don’t block people’s way!”
Aydan led the way to the open square.
Given the situation, these two were definitely going to fight.
Watching the two men walk quickly, Lucille and Linda hurried after them but couldn’t catch up.
Once at the square, Cedrick and Aydan immediately started fighting.
Aydan, trained in dance, moved with incredible agility. He leaped up and kicked Cedrick.
Chinese dance incorporates martial arts, so this kick sent Cedrick tumbling to the ground.
But Cedrick had a fitness routine; his company even had a gym for him to work out anytime, so he was strong.
As Aydan charged, they grappled, and Cedrick pinned Aydan down.
The crowd didn’t miss the excitement, closing in again, and some even started live–streaming.
When Lucille arrived, the two were rolling around in a tangle, and someone was filming with commentary.
“Stop!”
“Do you think this looks good?”
Lucille couldn’t pull them apart, “They’re filming you to put online!”
“Have you
no shame?”
Aydan now had the upper hand, pinning Cedrick down, “I don’t care!”
“Shame or no shame, I don’t care!”
Then Cedrick gained the upper hand, knee pressing hard on Aydan’s neck, turning Aydan’s face red.
“You don’t care either?”
Lucille reached from behind, grabbing Cedrick’s neck and pulling back.
Seeming to separate them, Cedrick nearly choked and finally let go. Aydan, free, kicked Cedrick hard.
As Aydan was about to kick again, Cedrick suddenly realized, “Lucille!”
“You’re… taking sides!”
Breathing was hard, so his words were halting.
Lucille gritted her teeth, silent, just tightening her grip on Cedrick’s neck, “No more fighting!”
“Not fighting… why are you choking him… choking me… cough cough… what for!”
Cedrick, struggling to breathe, spoke between violent coughs.

Maricela ran up, eyes red, crying as she stood between Aydan and Cedrick, “Don’t hit him, I said those words, I’ll apologize. If you’re really angry, hit me, not him, not him…”
