She didn’t even dare to ask: “Do you want money?”
She was afraid human nature was too greedy; exposing that she had a lot of money before knowing what they wanted might not be safe.
After waiting half an hour, there was movement.
Another group came, bringing two people she knew: one was her father, the other was Maricela.
Both of them had their eyes covered.
Lucille saw from the stairs without railings that they were being dragged up all the way.
Were all three of them kidnapped?
An answer gradually formed in her mind–this kidnapping was probably related to her biological father, and the target was Cedrick, for money.
So, Cedrick would definitely come–even if Lucille wasn’t worth it, for Maricela’s sake, he would come.
Her father and Maricela were brought up and, like her, thrown to the ground.
“Let me go! How much money do you want?” Maricela screamed.
“Looks like there really is money! Why not double it?” The gray–clothed man who brought Maricela up laughed wild- ly.
The man in yellow who kidnapped Lucille frowned, “Who is this? Who did you capture?”
“Cedrick’s wife!”
“No, is she Cedrick’s wife?”
Yellow clothes pointed at Lucille, “Then who is this?”
“How should I know!” The gray–clothed man touched his head, “Where did you kidnap this person from?”
“We caught her at Cedrick’s house; she must be his wife!”
“Then what is this one we caught, who goes out with Cedrick all the time? In the nursing home news, she was with Cedrick too!”
“Besides a wife, someone who’s together every day could also be a lover!”
“How could a rich man like Cedrick have only one woman?”

“Just ask them and find out.”
The man in yellow pointed at Lucille and Maricela: “You two! Which one is Cedrick’s wife?”
“Her!”
Maricela answered without hesitation.
“Is this your daughter?” The man in yellow pointed at Lucille and asked Jaxon, “She’s Cedrick’s wife, right?”
“Yes! Yes! She is! Cedrick’s loaded! You gotta believe me!”
Jaxon’s clothes were torn, his face bruised and swollen.
Lucille stared at her father with icy detachment.
This was her biological father–selling out his own daughter for money!
“Did you make the call?”
The man in yellow demanded.
“Done. Cedrick’s on his way.”
The man in gray kicked Maricela. “Who are you to Cedrick?”
“Don’t complicate things!” the man in yellow barked.

“No, I was tricked by this woman! But now I see she’s valuable too! When I called Cedrick and said his wife was with us, this woman screamed ‘Cedrick, save me!‘ into the phone. Cedrick sounded frantic, asking what we wanted, nam- ing any price, begging us not to hurt anyone.”
The man in yellow snorted. “We just want the cash. Stay out of it!”
The man in gray pursed his lips. “I’m just figuring which woman would make Cedrick pay more!”
“Enough! He’s here!”
A car pulled up downstairs–Cedrick’s car.
Cedrick stepped out, hauling two large suitcases.
He came alone.
“Damn, this guy’s got guts, coming solo!”
“I’m here!”
Cedrick shouted from below. “Send someone out to talk!”
“Get up to the 11th floor!”
The man in gray
roared.

Cedrick sprinted upstairs with the suitcases, yelling, “Maricela! Maricela, don’t be scared! I’m coming!”
The man in yellow turned to Lucille. “Are you Maricela ?”
“No.”
Lucille replied in an icy tone.
“She’s my daughter! Last name Radford! She’s Cedrick’s wife!”
Jaxon screamed.
Lucille shot her father a contemptuous glare. Was he so desperate to push his daughter forward? Afraid they wouldn’t get the ransom if people doubted she was Cedrick’s wife?
“This is getting interesting.”
The man in gray chuckled.
“Maricela !”
