Chapter 125
A million for one–word replies. Should I transfer another million for two words?”
“Okay.”
Lucille held up two fingers: exactly two words.
Cedrick actually laughed. He immediately transferred a million via phone. “Remember, one- word answers from now on count as breach of contract!”
“Alri-”
Cedrick’s gaze sharpened.
“―ght.”
Lucille finished.
His expression shifted like a spilled palette, truly colorful.
“Let’s go!”
He strode ahead, briefcase in hand.
He’s angry already? So easily provoked.
Lucille followed him into the elevator down to the garage where his car waited.
As always, they entered separately. Settling into the passenger seat, Lucille noticed something new–a pendant.
A cartoon “safe journey” charm now dangled from the rearview mirror.
Cedrick cleared his throat. “Ahem. Maricela put that there. Said it’d bless my travels. Meant well.”
Lucille nodded.
Cedrick didn’t start the engine immediately, watching her closely for any resentment. “Shall
we?”

What does ‘hmm–hmm‘ mean?
Lucille raised two fingers: two words.
“You…” This time Cedrick really laughed. “Fine. Only money matters earn you proper replies.”
The car went straight to the law firm.
Cedrick had arranged everything. Though the lawyer had handled countless notarizations, this was a first. But with Cedrick’s Money Talks, plus their friendship… well, work was
work.
Yet the third clause made the lawyer frown. This involved assets–no game. He knew about Cedrick and that white moonlight, Maricela.
The lawyer glanced at Cedrick: Absolutely certain?
Cedrick nodded. Absolutely.
“Cedrick.”
Lucille spoke. “I know why you’re so confident. Clause three can’t bind you. You’ve got ten thousand ways to move assets.”
Lucille signed her name on the contract.
Cedrick held his pen, “Am I really that awful in your eyes?”
Lucille smiled faintly, “Probably worse.”
Cedrick then pressed down hard while signing his name, each stroke piercing through the paper. “Don’t worry, I won’t deceive you.”
True enough, he’d never deceived her–he was just a scumbag through and through.

His reassurance meant nothing, she simply didn’t care anymore.
After signing and notarizing, they left the law firm.
“I’ll take you to the holistic health clinic,”
he offered.
Lucille didn’t refuse.
He accompanied her all the way to the clinic’s waiting room. “Need a ride after rehab?”
She shook her head. “No, I’m meeting Emma later.”
“Alright.
I’ll head out first.”

Cedrick’s phone rang as he walked out, leaving his briefcase beside Lucille’s seat.
Seeing him exit, Lucille grabbed the case and hurried after him.
The call was from his lawyer. “Cedrick, are you sure you’re not just playing games wife? I’m not part of your play, am I?”

“Yes and no. She wants to play, so I’ll play along,”
Cedrick replied while walking.
“You realize this contract, though almost farcical, might cause future complications?” The lawyer’s tone implied future deniability. “Don’t blame me later.”
Cedrick chuckled. “Why would I? I signed it willingly.”
“But your assets could face disputes.”
“They won’t.”
Cedrick paused by his car.
“Planning to transfer assets?”
“No transfers.‘

Cedrick sighed. “We’ve known each other years. You know me–I won’t cheat her. Money

means nothing. I ruined a dancer’s life. Can wealth fix that? It’s priceless.”
“So…”
“So if she wants money, she gets it. She’s my lawful wife–isn’t my wealth shared? You’re a lawyer, why ask this!”
“But your first love…”
“We started from nothing. She values loyalty.”
“…Fine.” The lawyer gave up.
Hanging up, Cedrick turned and found Lucille standing behind him, holding his briefcase, looking dazed.
“What’s wrong?”
he asked.
Lucille snapped back to reality. “Nothing. Your case.
She handed it over.
Cedrick smirked. “Not bad, six words.”
Lucille stayed silent.
“Rushing to the office now.”
He drove off abruptly.
