Chapter 33 WHAT NEXT?

Chapter 33 WHAT NEXT?
I gasp and sit up in bed abruptly. My chest rises and falls with heavy breaths, my body drenched in sweat. I feel strange and different somehow.

I shift in my mates arms around my waist and face him when everything that happened between us comes rushing back to me. A startled cry escapes my lips. Samuel is quickly awoken. His eyes reflect panic.

"What's wrong?" he asks.

"Y-you...I...we..." I try to find my words, but fail miserably. Everything is one big jumble in my head and I can't sort it all out.

He sighs in relief when he realizes I am physically okay. However, emotionally, I don't even know the answer to that.

"Yes. We did," he says, answering my unasked question. "We're fully mated now."

The pride in his tone doesn't go unnoticed. While he is sure about how he feels about our mating I am still conflicted. I want to be angry at myself for yielding unto him so easily and at him for reasons unknown yet, but I can't. It is almost as if my mind and body refuse to be angry at him or our mating.

I can't believe how easy it is for him to break down my walls. Only Logan had they power before it left. I shudder at the thought of him in a bad way. I only think of him in disgust now. What surprises me even more is that the thoughts of him and Josephine together don't bother me like they used to. Not even the slightest.

It's better this way. The faint voice of my wolf speaks. We have a mate now. We are whole again.

Her voice is more cheerful than it has been in the past and I can almost feel her glowing.

I rub the tiredness and sleep from my eyes and look at the digital clock next to me on the stand. I am surprised to find it is ten thirty a.m. Samuel is never in bed at this hour. He hates to waste his day.

"Shouldn't you be with the pack?" I ask him.

He smiles and pulls me to his chest with his arms wrapped around my body. "No. I'm exactly where I need to be."

"But if you have to go, I don't want to keep you," I say. "I know you have duties."

The thought of him leaving me pains me. I don't want him to go, but I don't want to force him to stay either. It won't be fair.

"Yes. I have duties as your mate as you do as mine. Let us just enjoy this for now."

I smile back at him at his reply. "Okay. I can do that." It's incredible how much can be said with so little words. Even as we both sit there wrapped up in each other's arms, speechless, I can feel how elated my mate is. There is something much stronger and powerful between us, it is palpable. It radiates the room.

"Do you feel it too?" I ask him.

"Yes," he mumbles into my hair. "The pack can feel it too. They know we've mated."

"So that's why the pack hasn't bothered us this late in the day," I mumble more to myself.

Normally Dylan or Kyle will have come and gotten him for something by now. He's rarely ever still in bed past nine.

"Bothered us?" He is amused by my choice of words.

I blush at how it sounds coming from him and feel bad. I don't want him to think they're bothersome. I love them all. I have only used a poor choice of words.

"I meant no one got us up early today and you're still here. They always come to you for something. You're never here for long in the mornings if at all."

He smiles. "Miss me, do you?"

I blush a deeper shade of red.

"It's ok," he adds. "I miss you too."

I feel complete as I snuggle deep into his chest and sigh contently. He misses me. That brings a smile to my face. I am overwhelmed by a feeling that is completely new to me. My knight in shining armor has saved me in the best way possible and though it is only now I am realizing all the reasons I love him, I do, so much that it scares me.

My denial is done.

The morning soon turns into the afternoon and Samuel can no longer avoid his Alpha duties. He has to deal with a problem that occurred overnight and he has only been informed for obvious reasons. As soon as we are separated my wolf starts to despair. I have to remind her it is only temporary and that we will be together again soon. I can also feel Samuel's wolf too and he feels the same as mine. They long for each other and won't be at ease until they are reunited again. We want our mate.

Doreen, Laura and I had spend most of the day by the lake while everyone else prepares for our departure to my former pack. Since my wolf is officially back we all go for runs and then decide to rest by the water for a while. It is fun letting my wolf again, but we are both missing Samuel too much to really enjoy it.

He has been on edge all morning which puts my wolf on edge too. An unknown she wolf crossed over onto our land last night and it has the whole pack on high alert. His wolf isn't handling it well either. He sees her as a possible threat.

Go to him. My wolf urges.

"Who do you think she is?" Laura asks.

I shrug. "I don't know. There is only so much you can ask a person who doesn't even remember their own name."

"I just find it strange that she was wandering around in the woods all by herself. Who does that? It's not safe," Doreen adds.

"She was lost, that's the only explanation for it. But no one knows her and no packs are reporting her missing. Where did she come from?" I ask.

Laura pushes herself off the tree trunk and stands in front of us. "Dylan has been questioning her since she arrived. My father says he'd never seen anyone look so lost before. He said he felt bad for her. He hopes Samuel can help her."

My mate and the beta have been spending a lot of time with the unknown wolf, and though I know I have no reason to be worried, I am. I am not the only one who has noticed how gorgeous the new she wolf is. All the males have noticed too.

I know how males work. A beautiful, lost girl shows up out of nowhere with no one and doesn't remember anything, it tends to bring out the savior complex in the unmated males. She is mysterious and everyone wants to know her.

"Dylan's here," Laura announces, staring in the distance behind me. Doreen and I both turn to confirm his presence, watching him until he reaches us. I am the first one to speak to him. "Hey."

"Hey," he greets. "Samuel wants to see you."

My wolf perks up at that.

"Is he okay?" I ask.

Dylan chuckles. "Is he ever really okay? He's got a lot on his mind, but yes, physically he's fine."

"Then I better go," I state. I turn to Laura and Doreen before I leave. "I'll see you two later, okay?"

They both nod and I quickly make my way back to the pack house eager to be with my mate again.

Samuel is not in his office when I arrive at the house which sends me straight to our room. When I reach my destination the door is closed, but I open it and step inside. Our luggage is still on the floor next to the bed where we had left it earlier so it is clear no one has been here to remove them yet.

I look up just as the bathroom door opens to reveal a half naked Samuel and blush at his state.

"You sent for me?" I ask.

"Yes," he answers as he reached the closet. "I wanted to see you. My wolf is upset."

"What's wrong?"

"The she wolf attacked me," he says.

I begin to panic and grow concerned. My eyes roam over him to examine his body for bodily harm. I see no markings on his body that indicates a scuffle, but that still doesn't put my mind at ease.

"I'm already healed," he says. "She got me good, but I'm alright. I'm an Alpha. She was pretty strong though. She definitely had strength on her side She seems to be more than just a she wolf." I can hear the interest in her in his voice.

"Why did she attack you?" I ask.

He slips his arms through the sleeves of his shirt and pulls it over his head before answering me.

"She's confused and doesn't understand anything. She doesn't understand why we're keeping her here and wants to leave but I can't allow that, so she got aggressive with me. I'm still not sure what we're going to do with her yet. She's under the care of our doctor right now. He's giving her something to calm her down.

She's been sedated? That must mean she's being treated as a psych patient?

Samuel crosses the room and stands in front of me, placing his hands on my waist and dragging me into him.

"Me and my wolf missed you," he says, bringing his head forward to rest against mine. His green eyes bore into my blue ones with intensity. Things get serious quickly.

My breathing picks up. "Oh."

His hands trail up my sides until they reached my face and cups it.

"You seemed oddly calm for someone who was just attacked," I note with a heavy breath.

"That's because you're here. I sensed you almost as soon as you entered the house." His lips are nearly on mine now.

Though the moment stirs some need in me I still can't get that she wolf out of my mind. She has attacked my mate and I am not okay with that. Immense feeling of anger arises in me that I am not familiar with and I want to do something about it.

His lips come down on mine offering a temporary distraction for my disturbing thought of how I will make the new wolf pay for her actions. I am certain these feelings are not healthy seeing as I am having a lot of trouble understanding them.

"You're distracted," he says. His tone tells me that he is not pleased about that.

"By you," I lie. I quickly grab his shirt collar before he can respond and bring his lips back to mine. I don't hold back this time. I give him everything I have. My lips work against his eagerly. He immediately responds by lifting me up so that I can wrap my legs around him and stumbled backwards into the bed with me falling on top of him.

We break apart when we hit and I giggle.

"It seems like days since I saw you last," he says.

"I know," I agree. "How long was it?"

"Four hours."

My eyes widen at my surprise. That was all?

"Well, then we better make up for lost time," I smirk.

It is almost like I am a new person now. I am finding out things about myself that I haven't discovered before. Like how much I love doing a certain thing with my mate. And that I am not afraid of my inexperience when it comes to him. Everything just comes so natural between us. It is almost like we are really true mates. Being with Samuel has changed me in the best way.

After we are getting dressed for a second time today a knock comes to our door. It is Dylan with a message for Samuel. When he quickly excuses himself I decide on a shower. Thereafter I join my friends outside the mansion.

What happens next no one could have foreseen.
