Chapter 53 The Superstar (15)

Six months later, my new movie was completed and released on Christmas Day.

The film was an instant hit, receiving widespread acclaim and a stunning audience rating of 9.8.

Thanks to this movie, I successfully won the Best Actress award.

The following year, I accepted another project from James.

Holding the contract, I glared at him, "This is what you meant by a raise?!"

James adjusted his glasses, his refined and gentlemanly demeanor masking the sinister grin of a true capitalist.

"One dollar increase isn’t an increase?"

I dropped the contract and turned around.

A sly and cunning businessman, always looking to take advantage of me.

James hurriedly tried to placate me.

"Fine, double. Is double enough?"

His face twisted in visible pain.

"Hah." I sneered.

"Triple. That’s my final offer!" James gritted his teeth.

"Deal, boss!" I replied cheerfully, scooping up the contract.

Three years later, I successfully climbed to the entertainment industry’s top.

On my birthday, I finally agreed to Bensham’s long-standing pursuit.

When people asked me why, my answer was simple:

"I love seeing someone who used to argue with me all the time now obediently following my lead. It’s incredibly satisfying!"

Years later, in a moment of curiosity, I asked Bensham,

"Why do you like me?"

"You’re the first sharp-tongued person who’s ever managed to get the better of me," he replied with a smirk.

"I admire that."

"Wow, so shallow," I teased.

"I’m different. I fell for you because of your money."

"Get out," Bensham said flatly.
