Chapter 48 The Superstar (10)
The variety show continued as usual.
Aside from Morton’s interruptions and Anna’s venomous glares, everything went smoothly.
Meanwhile, thanks to the director’s occasional "leaks," Morton and Anna’s public image had plummeted to rock bottom.
In contrast, my followers had grown by several million.
As I got out of bed this morning, someone cornered me again.
Anna, her face twisted with rage, demanded, "Was Prenda’s situation your doing?"
Me:?
What happened to her?
"Emily, stop pretending! Prenda was arrested for allegedly spreading obscene content after someone reported her! If it wasn’t you, then who?"
Anna’s eyes burned with venomous hatred.
I was genuinely confused.
"When did this happen?"
Anna stomped her foot, her voice sharp, "Right after the performance where you won first place! Prenda did her dance routine—don’t even try to deny it. You were jealous of her!"
Ah, I wasn’t wrong to think her dance pushed the limits.
Honestly, Prenda’s arrest wasn’t unfair.
"You! Emily, I swear you’ll pay for this!" Anna hissed, practically shaking with rage.
I tilted my head, pretending to be lost in thought.
"So ...... I’ll wait?"
Anna, unable to outargue me, suddenly burst into tears.
At that moment, Morton appeared behind me, holding a bouquet.
Without warning, he shoved me hard, and my back slammed against the wall.
I gasped sharply, the pain spreading through my body.
"Emily, you’re bullying Anna again!"
"Why are you still as vicious as ever? I was even considering giving you a chance to pursue me, but now… forget it! A woman like you doesn’t even deserve to shine my shoes!"
With that, he threw the bouquet of red roses at my face.
The thorns left a thin, bloody scratch across my face.
Once I recovered, I let out a cold laugh and quickly stepped forward, grabbing Morton’s shoulders as if pulling him into an embrace.
The man froze, startled, "You ......"
A piercing scream tore through the air the next second, almost splitting my eardrums.
"It hurts! Damn it, it hurts!"
I glanced down to see my knee firmly lodged between Morton’s legs.
His face contorted in agony as he clutched his lower half, unable to move.
I leaned down slightly, giving him a disdainful once-over.
"Hah. You think you can mess with my face and get away with it?"
How much do artists care about their faces? Doesn’t he know?
Standing to the side, Anna was so startled that she covered her mouth with her hands, watching in wide-eyed shock as I walked away easily.
Not long after the Prenda incident, another major scandal broke.
This time, it was a series of video clips:
One showed Anna throwing a tantrum and bullying her assistant.
Another revealed her lip-syncing during a performance.
And the most damning of all—her harp scene from the movie was exposed as having been performed by a stand-in teacher.
In less than a day, Anna’s reputation was destroyed.
Even many of her fans publicly announced they were withdrawing their support.
What was odd, though, was that despite such a massive scandal, Anna didn’t come to confront me this time.
Instead, Bensham showed up.
