Chapter 36 The Punishment (8)

Emma covered her face, tears ticking down. "Mom, it’s not like that. Just let me explain, okay?"

Melika stood up and kicked Emma, "The pictures are everywhere. Aren’t you ashamed of yourself? How could you do such a thing?"

Emma hugged Melika’s thigh. "Mom, don’t listen to Norman. It’s all nonsense. He hates our family and wants to make things bad for both mother and daughter!"

Emma was still excusing herself when it came down to it, but Melika was no fool. She kicked Emma away with all her might and left without looking back, leaving Emma sobbing on the floor.

I felt nothing inside when I saw this scene; Emma had brought all this to herself!

After that day, Emma and I didn’t see each other again, but she stole a bank card from me, having previously fooled me into changing it to her name!

I sued for divorce unsuccessfully because of that setup video she used against me, but my attorney told me I had a better chance of winning the second time!

It was when my branch was well on its way to opening that Emma showed up.

At this point, her stomach was showing, and she was being held in the arms of a man whose arms were covered in tattoos, smoking a cigarette in front of me and followed by George.

" Norman, do you know how happy I am right now? And look at you, not at all like a boss! More like a bum." Emma laughed out loud.

I ignored them but kept my head down and continued working. George, obnoxious as ever, kicked the locker in front of him with his foot, " My sister is talking to you! Are you deaf? Be careful to let my brother-in-law beat you to death!"

The three laughed in the air, and Emma patted me on the shoulder, "I heard that you sent my son to the orphanage, Norman. Who gave you the right to make that decision for me? You’re nothing but a dirt dog from the countryside, and marrying me was the biggest stroke of luck you’ll ever have in your pathetic life!"

I glanced lightly at Emma, "Your son is pitiful to have a mother like you, living captive in the basement alone! He is worse than an animal. We are so unlucky to have met you!"

Emma was so angry that her face turned red, and the tattooed man beside her reached out and pushed me, "Say that again if you have the guts, okay, or I’ll call someone to smash up this store of yours and make you disappear from the city!"

I shrugged nonchalantly, "Make yourself at home!"

The tattooed man was angry enough and swung his fist to hit me, but I am not stupid. Emma disappeared for so long and then appeared again with nothing more than wanting money, and now also with a new boyfriend together over to find fault.

If I fought with the tattooed man in public here, it would be a mutual assault, three people targeting me alone. Who knows how they might twist the story to frame me? This does not allow Emma to sneak away my money!

I took a few steps back, "If you guys have nothing else to do, don’t block my business!"

"You’re so arrogant!" The tattooed man grabbed me by the collar and glared at me, "Hurry up and pay back the money you owe my wife, or I’ll make you suffer!"

I can’t help but feel disgusted. Emma had no limits regarding the kind of people she associated with...

"I don’t owe her anything! And she and I aren’t divorced yet, and every penny she spends on you is joint property between us as a couple, and I have every right to make you pay it back!"
