Chapter 37 Clash
The forest exploded in movement.
Tiara barely had time to react before two enhanced wolves lunged at her from opposite angles, claws cutting through the air like blades. She twisted, dodging one swipe and planting her heel into the other wolf’s chest. The impact sent it skidding back but it didn’t slow.
It never slowed.
“Alpha, left!” a SilverShield warrior shouted.
Tiara spun, catching the enhanced wolf mid-air. Its muscles pulsed unnaturally, veins glowing the same sickening purple she’d seen before. It snapped its jaws inches from her face.
“Not today,” she snarled, slamming it into the earth.
The ground cracked beneath them.
More wolves keep surged behind her.
NightFang was here in force.
And they weren’t hiding anymore.
“Tiara!” Damien’s voice cut through the chaos, deep, sharp, commanding. He burst through the trees, eyes glowing gold. His wolf aura rolled out in waves, steadying the battlefield. His presence alone made SilverShield warriors stand taller.
But Tiara saw the tension in his jaw.
These wolves, these corrupted creatures weren’t natural. And their numbers were increasing.
Damien reached her side, back-to-back with her as another enhanced wolf charged. “They’re targeting you,” he said, voice low.
She blocked a strike with her forearm and countered with a fast elbow. “Good. Let them try.”
“Tiara.”
“I’m done running from destiny. If NightFang wants war,” she whipped her blade across a wolf’s chest, “then they’ll get one.”
Two wolves leaped at Damien. He sidestepped with calculated precision, grabbing one by the neck and flipping it into the second. His movements were crisp, strategic and not chaotic like Tiara’s. Where she was fire, he was steel.
“North flank is collapsing,” he muttered. “I’ll reinforce.”
“No.” She grabbed his arm, eyes blazing. “We finish this together.”
Their wolves surged inside them, two pulses of furious energy, rising in unison.
Damien met her gaze for half a heartbeat.
Then nodded. “Together, then.”
A growl echoed across the battlefield, it was deep, monstrous, vibrating through the ground.
The corrupted wolves froze.
Tiara felt the hair on her arms rise. “He’s here,” she whispered.
NightFang’s leader stepped from the shadows, tall, wrapped in a dark aura that twisted like smoke around his body. His eyes glowed with the same unnatural purple.
“Alpha Tiara,” he drawled. “Destiny keeps dragging us back to each other.”
Tiara snarled. “You used forbidden rituals on your pack.”
He smiled. “Progress requires sacrifice.”
Damien stepped forward, voice sharp. “You’re corrupting wolves. Violating every law of the Moon Council.”
“Good,” the leader replied softly. “I hope they choke on it.”
Before Tiara could retort, he gave a sharp gesture.
Every enhanced wolf attacked at once.
“Brace!” Damien shouted.
The battlefield erupted.
Tiara met three wolves head-on. Her Alpha aura flared, glowing silver as she shoved them back with pure force. Her wolf roared inside her, hungry for the fight. She punched one wolf in the throat, kicked another behind the knee, and sent the third flying with a burst of Alpha energy.
But the corrupted wolves were stronger than before.
And faster.
One caught her by surprise, tackling her to the ground, claws digging into her shoulders. She grabbed its wrist, trying to pry it off but its dark-energy veins pulsed, boosting its strength.
“Alpha!” Mira screamed.
Tiara’s vision blurred.
The wolf’s jaws opened, aiming for her throat.
A golden blur slammed into it.
Damien.
He ripped the wolf off her, slammed it into a tree, and crushed its windpipe with one clean movement. His breath was ragged, eyes blazing.
“Stay with me,” he growled, grabbing her chin.
She forced a breath. “I’m fine.”
The ground shook.
NightFang’s leader was walking toward them, power radiating from him like a storm.
Damien pulled Tiara behind him. “Tiara take cover.”
“No.” Tiara shoved forward again, refusing to hide. “This is my fight.”
They stood side by side.
NightFang’s leader tilted his head. “Touching.”
He flicked his fingers.
Five enhanced wolves lunged directly at Tiara.
Her wolf exploded inside her, power surging through her veins. Her aura blasted outward, a silver shockwave that threw two wolves off course. But three still hit her hard, knocking the air from her lungs.
Claws slashed across her ribs.
Blood splattered the ground.
“Tiara!” Damien roared.
He reached for her but was cut off by three wolves attacking him at once. He fought viciously, movements sharper and more desperate. “Hold on!”
Tiara staggered, vision spinning. One wolf pinned her arm. Another tore at her leg. The third went for her throat.
Her wolf screamed for release.
For dominance.
For survival.
And then her eyes snapped open, glowing completely silver.
Power erupted from her skin in a blinding flash.
The wolves flew backward, smashing into trees with bone-breaking force.
She rose slowly, hair wild, aura swirling like a storm. “I am Alpha Tiara Blackmoon,” she growled. “And I don’t die that easily.”
NightFang’s leader’s eyes narrowed. “Interesting.”
Damien fought his way back to her side, panting, bleeding from a deep cut across his arm. “Don’t scare me like that again,” he whispered.
She allowed herself one breath, one fragile moment to look into his eyes.
But the moment shattered.
NightFang’s leader flicked his wrist and a new wave of corrupted wolves surged out from the shadows.
Dozens.
Too many.
Damien stiffened. “This is an extermination squad.”
Tiara wiped blood from her mouth. “Then we show them what happens when you corner Alphas.”
They stood together.
Two Alphas.
Two destinies intertwined.
Silver and gold energy crackled between them.
Tiara charged, slamming into the first wave with furious precision. She tore through the corrupted wolves, using her new strength to break joints, snap necks, and crush bone. Damien moved behind her, covering her blind spots, blocking attacks before they reached her.
They moved like a single creature.
Perfect.
Deadly.
Fearless.
But the onslaught didn’t stop.
Even as they cut down wolves, more came.
Damien gritted his teeth. “We can’t keep this up.”
Tiara’s chest burned. Her limbs trembled. “We don’t retreat.”
Another wolf tackled her, nearly pinning her, until Damien grabbed it by the spine and flung it off her.
Their eyes met.
Damien’s voice cracked with emotion. “I’m not losing you.”
She swallowed hard. “Then fight with me. To the last breath.”
NightFang’s leader lifted his hand.
Magic pulsed through the battlefield.
Every corrupted wolf froze.
Then bowed to him.
He stepped forward, aura swallowing the moonlight. “Hear me, Alpha Tiara.”
His voice rolled like thunder.
“I declare a blood oath against you.”
Damien stiffened. “No!”
NightFang’s le
ader extended a claw and dragged it across his palm, blood dripping onto the blackened earth.
“You will not survive the next battle.”
His eyes glowed purple fire.
“By the next full moon… your destiny ends.”
