Chapter 11 Silent Alpha pulse

Chapter 11 Silent Alpha pulse

Chapter 11 – The Silent Alpha’s Pulse

The council hall erupted the moment Damien’s words left his lips.

“I will fight. Not for the title. But for her.”

A wave of gasps crashed against the stone walls. Claws scraped the floors. Elders muttered curses under their breaths. Alpha Magnus’ jaw clenched so hard it could have shattered steel.

And then came the laughter. Cruel, sharp, mocking.

Luke Donovan, Alpha of the rival Bracken Pack, leaned from the back of the hall, smirking like a wolf who smelled weakness. “Ah,” he called, voice dripping with venom, “so the great Alpha of the Fairly Moon Pack would throw away everything for a breeder witch?”

The hall froze. Every eye snapped to Luke. Every whisper carried accusation.

Damien’s wolf, Shadow, coiled tight around him like a living flame. His golden eyes cut through the crowd, landing on Luke with a predator’s precision.

“Witch?” Damien’s voice was low, restrained, but it carried enough heat to make the stone tremble. “She is my mate. And you will not insult her ever.”

Luke laughed, louder this time, stepping forward, claws scraping the floor. “Your mate?” he sneered. “A breeder, Damien? The blood of wolves flows through her veins, yes but she is nothing. A breeder has no right to your bond. No right to your pack. No right to your throne.”

Damien’s jaw tightened. His pulse thundered in his ears. His wolf stirred violently, claws raking at his ribs, demanding release. Shadow wanted to tear this impostor apart. Damien wanted to strike him down, but he controlled himself. Controlled his wolf. Controlled his fury.

Tiara, standing just behind him, felt it all, every pulse of Shadow, every surge of Damien’s heartbeat. She trembled, not from fear, but from the intensity of the bond between them. The invisible thread hummed in her chest, pulling her closer to him, connecting them across the distance and the chaos.

Her own wolf stirred. Stronger. Hungrier. More alive than ever before. Silver eyes flickered behind her lids, and she blinked, shocked at the power that surged within her.

“Damien,” she whispered, almost to herself. “Why does it feel like I can feel you… everywhere?”

Damien’s hand flexed at his side. He hadn’t even looked back at her. He kept his gaze fixed on Luke. But even across the hall, even in the midst of fury and laughter, the bond flared. He could feel her heartbeat in his chest. Her fear. Her strength.

Luke lunged forward suddenly, claws aimed at Damien’s shoulder. The motion was slow and deliberate, a show of intimidation.

Damien didn’t move immediately. He let the air thicken, let the hall hold its collective breath. And then, with a single step, he blocked Luke’s advance, shoulder to shoulder, his presence radiating authority and fire.

“Back,” Damien said, low, dangerous. “Or I swear the Moon itself will regret it.”

Luke faltered. For the first time, doubt flickered across his confident face.

“You protect her,” Luke sneered, “but everyone knows she is a breeder. A low-born commoner. And you… you are about to lose everything for her.”

Damien’s lips curled, almost smiling but it was a smile edged with fire.

“She is not a commoner,” he spat. “And you will address her with the respect she deserves or you will answer to me.”

A tremor ran through the hall. The pack watched in stunned silence as Damien’s aura expanded, a wave of Alpha energy so potent it made the hair on every wolf’s arms stand on end. Even the council elders flinched. Even Alpha Magnus’ eyes narrowed, wary for the first time in decades.

Tiara felt it all. The heat, the rush, the undeniable truth that this Alpha, this man was hers. Her mate. Her shield. Her fire. Her anchor.

She swallowed hard. “Damien…” she whispered, afraid her voice might betray the power her wolf was aching to release. “I… I don’t know what’s happening to me.”

He shot her a glance, a flash of pain passing through his golden eyes. “You feel me,” he said, almost tenderly. “Because we are bound. Every heartbeat. Every breath. Every fear. Every victory. We are one.”

The hall fell into chaos again, voices rising. Some wolves shouted in disbelief. Others whispered curses. A few stared openly, fear and awe painted on their faces.

Elder Rowan moved quietly to Tiara’s side, his eyes narrowed, calculating. “The moment you reveal yourself,” he murmured, barely audible, “war begins. And it will not wait for anyone to be ready.”

Tiara’s heart pounded. “I…”

“Do not,” Rowan warned, voice low but sharp. “Control it. Hide it. Your wolf cannot awaken fully yet. Not here. Not now.”

Her wolf snarled inside her chest, silver eyes flashing, muscles tensing. She could feel the Alpha blood in her veins calling out, trying to claim its place. But she obeyed, biting back the surge of power.

Damien’s gaze never wavered from Luke. “You will not touch her. Not a single hair. Not a single word. If you so much as breathe her name with malice, I will make this hall your grave.”

Luke froze, sneer fading into uncertainty. He looked around, realizing that the room no longer belonged to him or to anyone else but to the Alpha before them.

Then came the whisper. Soft. Threatening. From the shadows.

“The council has issued a test,” Elder Cassian said. “To prove your claim. To prove she is worthy. Or you will lose everything.”

Damien’s jaw clenched. He did not speak immediately. Shadow rumbled deep in his chest, warning him, threatening, urging him forward. He ignored it.

Tiara felt the words pierce her like ice. “Test?” she asked, voice shaking.

Damien’s head dipped slightly toward her, just enough to brush a lock of hair from her face without touching. “Yes,” he said softly. “And it will not be easy.”

Her wolf stirred. Hunted. Curious. Hungry. Protective.

He sensed her reaction before she even realized it herself. The bond screamed, linking them in ways words could not capture. He reached for he not to touch, but almost close enough that she could feel the heat radiating from him.

“Tiara,” Damien whispered. “If they dare, if they even try, I swear your life is mine to defend.”

She shivered at his words for something that made her wolf whine in anticipation and awe.

Elder Rowan stepped forward again. “The council’s order is clear,” he said, loud enough for the hall to hear. “You must prove she is worthy. Not because she wishes to be. But because the pack must believe it. You… will lead, or you will fall.”

Damien’s golden eyes locked on hers. “Tiara… whatever happens,” he whispered, “you survive this. You always survive this. Because you are mine. And I am yours. Even if the world tries to tear us apart.”

Tiara felt the pulse of his words deep in her chest, matching her own heartbeat. Her wolf growled low, her silver eyes flickering as if ready to leap out and claim its place.

And then Damien straightened, lifting his chin toward the council. Voice steady. Eyes burning. “I accept your test. But know this, the bond I share with my mate is not for judgment. It is not for debate. And any who try to challenge her will face me first.”

Murmurs spread through the hall like wildfire. Shock. Fear. Rage. Respect. Even Luke stepped back, realizing this fight had only just begun and he was already losing.

Tiara exhaled slowly, her wolf curling within her chest, restrained but alive. She whispered one word inside her mind, her first acknowledgment of the power growing inside her.

“Alpha.”

A shiver ran through the room, though none could explain it. The council didn’t understand. The other Alphas didn’t understand. Even Damien’s father, Alpha Magnus, didn’t fully understand.

But Damien did.

And he would fight for her
.

Even if it meant losing everything.

Even if it meant starting a war the pack had never seen before.
