Chapter 212: Is She Coming Around?
**Rameric's POV:**
I'm not exactly sure what to say to a statement like that. What would one say in this instance?! How was I expected to respond to something like that!? I was so shocked that I didn't know what to say. I was just standing there. I knew that my mate was in such a state of mental anguish, on top of already experiencing severe physical pain. What could I do to make this all better? Was there anything, anything at all!?
"Who is responsible for this?" Raiven shouted as he latched onto the side of the bathing basin. "I must see this for myself!"
"Come around this way," Gladrian said, standing back and pointing to the other side of where he was standing. "You can see better from this angle."
He rushed around and when he looked at her again, I could hear a growl in the pit of his throat. He couldn't help it as he roared, and then his wolf started to whimper. Why was he whimpering?
"Raiven, I am beyond furious, but why is Riot whimpering now?!" I was confused by the sudden change in his temperament.
Don't you understand, brother!" Raiven said as he leaned forward, looking down and away from my questioning gaze. "It is all my fault."
I was suddenly hit with the realization of what was bothering him so much. I knew then that he felt responsible for everything that happened to my mate. After all, she had been placed in his care for the past week. That was the reason for his change in attitude, all of a sudden. That was the reason for his temperament and if there is one thing that I knew about Raiven. If he felt something, so did Riot.
Hell, what would one say in that instance? I could not process the thought fully that someone had drugged her through the various corridors outside her cell. Then it made sense as to why her scent was found leading in both directions around the area outside her cell. It all went in a large circle. Was that their idea of taking her on a walk, by dragging her as she did not have the strength to walk all on her own!? Until we went there and found them about to violate her?
"When do you think she will wake?" I asked Gladrian. I needed to distract my mind in one form or another. The fact that she had yet to wake up was the only thing keeping rage in this bathing basin. I could understand why Rager was ready to go out and shred something.
"That all depends on her, my Alpha Caine," Gladrian said in his response. "It could be in a few moments or it could be tomorrow. Just keep in mind that she has lost a lot of blood, so it is hard to tell. Even though she has the ability to heal rather quickly, if her wolf is injured as much as she is, then there is no telling as to when she will wake. Our wolves give us the ability to heal faster. If she has lost the will to live, then it could only be a matter of time before ..."
"Do *not* finish that statement, Gladrian!" I almost shouted in a hushed tone, placing my hands down on either side of her head, grasping the edge of the bench she was lying on. "I cannot even process that thought right now, so don't even bother finishing it. I am not going to think of it like that. I will not be able to live with myself if you finish that statement, and it comes to pass."
"Well, for now, let's get her bathed and cleaned up, so you can get her back to your Chambers," Gladrian mentioned this time, changing the topic at hand. "This water is good for her but not if she stays in too long."
"Very well," I responded, watching him get back to tend to her needs.
It took a decent amount of time for him to get all of her wounds clean. Raiven would periodically go and collect more hot water, pouring it into the bathing basin, so the temperature of the water stayed at a neutral temperature for her. It allowed her body to be in a more relaxed state, all while he did what he did. However, when Gladrian was nearly complete, I was shocked by what happened. Alasia showed the first signs of movement. I took a huge sigh of relief.
"Don't get your hopes up, my Alpha Caine," Gladrian said, cutting my happiness short.
"But she moved, we all saw her move just now!" I shouted lightly, still somewhat excited.
"She still has a long way to go, and she's not out of the woods yet," Gladrian responded reluctantly. Even though I didn't want to admit it, I knew in the back of my mind that it was a possibility.
I needed to get a grip on this. This was emotionally taxing on me. I could only imagine what she was going through. I did wonder what her thoughts were. What did she think or even possibly see while she was resting there? All of a sudden, there was a light growl that could be heard from the depth of my throat. Rager did not like this as much as I didn't. I knew he wanted to come unglued, but he knew, for the sake of our mate, that I needed to remain calm and in control.
It was in her best interest that I stayed calm as she needed to know that it was us. She needed to know that we were alive and well. The last thing she needed was to wake with Rager causing a ruckus.
"How much longer till I am able to get her out?" I asked Gladrian as I looked over at Raiven with fear in my eyes that she might not wake.
