Chapter 281 She Will Not Give Up

Chapter 281 She Will Not Give Up

Emily was going crazy in the hospital every day. The doctors and nurses all hoped she would be discharged soon.

But her body hadn't recovered yet. The doctor didn't want to take responsibility, so he said, "Ms. Lockhart, if you insist on leaving the hospital, you need to sign this liability waiver. Any problems that occur after you leave the hospital have nothing to do with our hospital."

Otherwise, with Emily's unreasonable personality, if something happened to her outside, she would turn around and blame everything on the hospital, and they couldn't afford that.

Emily didn't have time to think about all that right now. Her mind was full of thoughts about getting revenge on Cynthia.

She didn't even read the liability waiver carefully and just signed her name directly.

"The staff member in charge of discharge procedures has already left for the day," the nurse said, putting away the liability waiver. "Tomorrow morning, I'll help you complete the discharge procedures, and then you can leave."

Emily didn't sleep all night. Every time she closed her eyes, she saw Cynthia's face.

Proud, confident, smiling at her with complete happiness.

As if mocking her misery!

Early the next morning, the nurse walked into the ward and opened the curtains for Emily. When the sunlight came in, she discovered the bed sheets had been crumpled into a wrinkled mess by Emily.

How much anger did she need to vent?

The nurse didn't want to cause trouble at all and just gave her the discharge papers directly.

"Ms. Lockhart, you can be discharged now."

Emily propped herself up to sit. The wheelchair was right beside the bed. She tried hard to move toward the wheelchair, but every inch was extremely difficult.

"Ms. Lockhart," the nurse couldn't bear to watch, "do you need help?"

"I'm not a cripple!" Emily growled. "Who do you think you are? You think you can pity me?"

The nurse gritted her teeth at being scolded, silently comforting herself that Emily would be discharged soon and she would never have to serve this crazy woman again.

Emily struggled to get up from the bed. Her hand had just touched the wheelchair when she fell heavily to the ground.

The wheelchair tipped over and crashed hard onto her body.

The pain made her break out in a cold sweat instantly.

The nurse just stood there, trying hard to hold back her laughter.

Emily was in a terrible state, trying hard to get up, but she couldn't even move the wheelchair pressing on her body.

When her last bit of strength was exhausted, her emotions completely broke down. She yelled at the nurse, "Are you blind? Can't you see I fell? Hurry up and help me!"

The nurse didn't move and blinked innocently. "You just said yourself that you didn't need my help."

"Get over here now! Or I'll complain about you right away! I'll get you fired! You'll end up on the streets with nowhere to live!"

The nurse slowly walked toward Emily and reluctantly moved the wheelchair off her body.

The nurse couldn't help muttering, "As if you have a place to live."

Emily had already been kicked out by the Lockhart family. She could only pay her hospital bills by selling her bags. The one who would end up on the streets was clearly her.

"Say that again!"

Emily was furious and reached out to grab the nurse's collar, but she didn't have that much strength anymore. The nurse easily dodged backward, and her hand let go of the wheelchair, which crashed heavily onto Emily's body once again.

Emily's scream echoed through the ward.

"You!" Emily glared viciously at the nurse. "You did that on purpose!"

"I didn't," the nurse shook her head innocently. "You tried to attack me first, so I dodged."

Emily's body hurt terribly. Continuing to waste time with this stupid nurse would only make things more troublesome.

"Just help me up!"

Although the nurse was unwilling, she also wanted to get this crazy woman, Emily, out of there quickly.

The nurse helped Emily into the wheelchair and then left immediately.

Emily left the hospital. This was the first time she had come outside since becoming disabled.

Everything felt incredibly strange and frightening.

People were coming and going in front of her. Everyone had complete legs and was taller than her.

It seemed like everyone who saw her couldn't help but show sympathy in their eyes.

All of Emily's pride was now trampled into the dirt.

She didn't even dare to lift her head anymore.

She hailed a cab, just wanting to escape from it all.

"To the prison in the eastern suburbs."

The driver hit the gas, and the car took off.

The street scenes of Rosewood City flashed by outside the window. Emily didn't want to look. All that bustle and prosperity seemed to mock her misery.

She closed her eyes until the car stopped, and asked the driver to help her out of the car.

She had become a complete cripple.

Wendy received notice of Emily's visit request and was both surprised and excited.

She thought Emily hated her and would never want to see her again in this lifetime!

Sure enough, the power of family was great. Emily must have forgiven her and come to see her!

The moment she saw Emily, Wendy's eyes turned red.

She looked at Emily sitting in the wheelchair. They hadn't been separated for long, but Emily had lost a lot of weight. Emily was so thin that her eye sockets were sunken in her cheeks, and her eyes were full of bloodshot veins and exhaustion.

Emily sat in the wheelchair, without any of her usual liveliness.

"Emily."

Wendy picked up the phone. Through the glass window, tears fell. "How did it come to this..."

Even though Cynthia had told her about this, when she actually saw this scene, she still felt heartbroken beyond measure.

"Don't look at me like that!"

Emily's tone was harsh, with heavy resentment. "I don't need anyone's pity!"

Wendy quickly wiped away her tears.

"Emily, Mom is so happy you came to see me."

Wendy secretly vowed that she would behave well in prison and get released early, so she could take care of Emily wholeheartedly.

"When did I ever admit you were my mother?" Emily's eyes were full of wariness. "I came today just to ask you something."

"What is it? Mom'll tell you everything!"

"Are you annoying or what? I said you're not my mother!"

Wendy was very hurt but didn't dare say much more. She could only lower her head sadly. "I'm sorry, I won't do that again."

"I came to ask you, the package you sent me with the photos inside—who gave them to you?"

"It was a fellow inmate of mine in prison, named Eldon, who gave them to me."

Emily asked urgently, "Does he have anything else? The kind that could destroy Cynthia?"

Wendy looked at Emily. Emily's face was full of hatred. She suddenly felt regret.

When did Emily, who used to be so positive about life, become like this? It was as if only hatred remained in her life.

She shouldn't have sent that package to Emily, and she shouldn't have kept encouraging Emily to hate Cynthia.

Otherwise, Emily wouldn't have ended up like this...
