Chapter 187
Chapter 187
"That's really hard to say."
As the piece ended, thunderous applause erupted from the audience. Sophia slowly walked to the front of the stage and bent down in an elegant bow, following her usual routine.
Then she went backstage, where Benjamin and Daniel were already waiting for her.
Benjamin and Daniel stood far apart from each other. In the small space, the atmosphere felt strangely tense.
The moment they saw Sophia appear in the distance, holding up her dress, Benjamin and Daniel looked over at the same time. Their stern faces softened for a moment.
"Your performance was a success. Did you see the audience's reaction? Everyone was amazed by your piano skills. This concert was very successful."
Daniel walked forward and said softly.
He didn't bring any elaborate bouquet, but instead offered his most sincere and genuine congratulations.
He had truly taken Sophia's words to heart and given her the greatest respect.
"Thank you, Mr. Wilson. Without your support, I wouldn't have been able to get this far. I really appreciate it."
The performance was a success, and Sophia couldn't calm her excited heart. Her eyes were red, wanting to cry but trying hard to hold back, unwilling to shed tears here.
Benjamin walked forward slowly. The corners of his lips curved up, a gentle smile on his face, and then he gently handed her a tissue.
"Wipe your tears. There's still a media interview coming up. Don't let tears mess up your makeup or affect your state."
Sophia was surprised by his thoughtfulness. She took the tissue and gently wiped away the tears at the corners of her eyes.
"Thank you, and thank you too, because if you hadn't arrived in time, it would have affected my performance. But you made it in time. Thank you."
Before long, a staff member came to notify them that the media interviewers had arrived.
She smiled at Benjamin and Daniel in front of her, saying calmly and confidently.
"I'll go do the interview now."
The interview ended quickly. They only asked some unimportant questions. Russell made a special effort to come over just as it was ending.
"Sophia, the performance was a success. I've already seen it online."
Russell walked forward with a smile, his tone full of appreciation and approval.
"I've already sent the video of your concert to the orchestra's headquarters. If you're willing, we can try to get you on the international concert stage. Sophia, you have a bright future ahead. I believe in you."
Hearing this, Sophia couldn't help but feel her nose tingle.
Finally, this moment had come. Her hard work day and night hadn't been in vain. Her hands, red and swollen from practice, had received the best reward.
"That would be wonderful. I can fully cooperate with your work. I've always wanted to try some international stages anyway. If you're willing to help me, I'd be extremely grateful."
Russell laughed and nodded. He wasn't surprised by Sophia's agreement.
From the beginning, he understood that Sophia's ambitions were not small. He had learned something about her past experiences. Sophia might seem delicate and fragile, but the resilience in her bones was something not everyone could break.
He was busy today and had specially contacted the foreign headquarters. He made a point of coming here to test Sophia's thoughts.
"Good, Sophia. You go ahead with what you need to do. If there's anything else, we can discuss it in detail back at the studio. I'll head back now."
Sophia didn't chat with Russell for long. She returned to the dressing room and changed back into her own clothes. Looking at the refreshed woman in the mirror, she pressed her lips together, suppressing the excitement in her heart.
Finally, she had reached the step she most wanted to reach.
Someone gently knocked on the dressing room door a few times. Sophia said softly.
"Come in."
She guessed it was either Benjamin or Daniel. As she responded, the door was pushed open. Through the makeup mirror in front of her, Sophia saw two unfamiliar faces.
It was a man and a woman. Their features looked somewhat similar, probably siblings.
They were both refined and good-looking. Sophia searched through her memories and confirmed she didn't know them. She immediately stood up and moved to the side.
"Hello, who are you?"
Too many things had happened today. The incident with Alice attacking her with a knife was still vivid in her mind. Sophia was still shaken and didn't dare fully trust any stranger.
Especially since these two people had come directly to her dressing room.
"Hello, Ms. Brown. You don't need to be nervous. We're just here to have a simple chat."
The man spoke with a kind smile on his face. As if afraid of scaring Sophia, they both just stood at the door without coming in.
"May I ask what work Ms. Brown's parents do?"
Sophia was slightly stunned. Looking at the two somewhat baffling people in front of her, she inexplicably lost some patience.
"I'm sorry, that's not convenient to share. If you don't have anything else, please leave."
The smile on her face faded a bit. After speaking, she turned around coldly and stopped paying attention.
The man glanced at the woman standing beside him, a hint of helplessness flashing in his eyes, as if to say he had no other options.
The woman's eyes shifted, and she had an idea. After all, she was female, so Sophia couldn't completely brush her off.
"Ms. Brown, I know this question is a bit presumptuous, but we still want to ask clearly. Would Ms. Brown be willing to share?"
Sophia paused in the act of removing her false lashes.
Through the makeup mirror, she looked at the two young people standing at the door, her tone carrying more helplessness.
"It's not that I don't want to answer your questions, it's just not convenient. If you really don't have anything else, please leave."
After repeated inquiries without getting an answer, the man had already started thinking about giving up. He was afraid that pushing Sophia too hard would drive her away, so he nodded and turned to leave.
But the woman beside him didn't move. Her gaze fixed on Sophia's cool and gentle profile, especially when she saw the features that were identical to those of a woman in her memory, her expression became increasingly shocked.
"We'll just say it directly. You don't need to be afraid."
This statement was so puzzling that Sophia really couldn't understand what these two people wanted. Her patience exhausted, she turned around and bluntly asked them to leave.
"Please don't stand at the dressing room door. If people passing by see this, they'll gossip. And as for the questions you're curious about, I'm sorry, I can't answer them. Please leave now."
The woman acted as if she hadn't heard. This time, she simply walked into the dressing room, getting closer to Sophia.
"Ms. Brown, may I ask if you don't have much memory of your mother, or rather, have you never met her?"
As soon as the words fell, Sophia's whole body stiffened. The impatience in her eyes disappeared, replaced by confusion.
