CHAPTER THIRTY NINE - TABLE OF THREE

MONA’S POV

“I don’t have a choice in this do I?” I asked as he stepped into my room.

“No, I know that I was harsh yesterday, but at least listen to me first,” he said and I sighed, folding my arms.

“I think you should give Luka and Aster another chance,” he started and I rolled my eyes, walking into the room.

How predictable

“I can only imagine how overwhelming it must have all been for you, that is why I have spoken with their fathers, today you are going to speak with them in a place of your choice and maybe after you talk to them, you will be able to see that maybe you were truly overreacting,” he said and I stared at him in shock.

Was this really his idea of a compromise?

“Dad, are you still making me go through with this?” I asked, trying to see if I could still reason with him.

“I am sorry Mona, but Aster and Luka are the only people that can take my place and lead this pack, they were raised for that specific reason,” he insisted and I bit my bottom lip furiously, trying to fight the urge to scream out in frustration.

“Whatever mistakes that they made can be fixed and I will make sure that they apologize to you,” he said, like that was supposed to make me feel better.

“I don’t care about their apology, I just want them to leave me alone!!”

“And I have told you that that will not be possible Mona!” he yelled back at me. “Look, I didn’t come here to argue with you, I came here to fix things and the way things are, you have no choice but to accept my solution,” he said angrily and I just stared at him, not knowing whether to be shocked or hurt by his words.

It made sense now, that my mother had run away from him before. Who in the hell would have wanted to spend her life with a hard headed man like this?

Maybe being homeless would not have been so bad after all? I thought as I stared at him silently.

“The maid would be here in the afternoon to give you a new dress and prepare you for your meeting with them. I expect you to be ready by then, and Mona, I don’t want to hear any complaints after this,” he said as he walked towards my door.

As soon as he left, I slammed the door shut. “ARGGH!!!” I screamed out in frustration.

I really had no choice now but to meet those asseholes again.

By three pm, a maid knocked on my door and as expected, she came in holding a dress.

“The Alpha said you should be ready by four pm, the driver would pick you from downstairs,” she said before leaving me alone in my room again.

Angrily, I took a shower and put the dress on, stomping out of my room with hair in a messy bun, not even bothering to put lipstick on.

The driver was downstairs waiting, resting by one of the cars as I expected.

“Good Afternoon, Miss Mona,” he greeted me with what seemed like a bright smile on his face.

I ignored him, pulling the car door open and sitting inside.

He drove me to a familiar location, it was the ice cream shop that Aster had taken me to before.

“What a venue for a serious discussion,” I said to myself as the driver parked the car.

“We are here, miss,” he said and I groaned inwardly.

“Let’s just get this over with,” I consoled myself, stepping out of the car.

Luka and Aster were seated at the same table, seemingly waiting for me and to be honest, the sight of them together, without causing a scene, sort of destabilized me a bit.

Luka waved at me to come and sit with them and I sighed deeply, bracing myself for whatever was going to come next.

“Hey Mona,” Aster greeted me, with a small smile. I ignored him as I took my seat right in front of them.

“Let’s just get this over with,” I started, looking up at them. “What did my father promise to get you both to act like this?”

“My first child? The house?” I asked sarcastically, turning to Luka, “he promised you the Limo right?”

“Mona, first of all we would like to apologise,” he started and I scoffed.

“You don’t have to lie to me Luka and you most certainly don’t have to keep pretending, there isn’t a crowd here,” I said, looking around the ice cream shop.

“You guys can start fighting again, I promise I will not report you to my father this time.”

“Can you at least hear us out first?!”  Aster shouted suddenly, banging his hand on the table to get my attention.

“Fine, let me hear you out then,” I said with a shrug. Not like there was anything they could say to me at this point.

“I like you Mona,” Aster said suddenly, his blue eyes glinting with sincerity. “And I know that it can’t excuse the way I have acted towards you before, but I want you to know how hard it can be for me to see you around someone else, especially someone that is clearly trying to take you away from me.”

My arms dropped from my chest as I stared at him silently. I clearly wasn’t expecting that.

“You are aware of my past with Sophia, and to be honest it is suffocating to watch you with him,” Luka said, making me turn to him. “But we had a long discussion before you got here and we realized how much our actions have been hurting you.”

Shit, why was this getting to me already?

“But from now on, we will be more considerate towards you,” Luka said and I sighed.

“Yeah, we are really sorry Mona,” Aster added. “If you give us another chance we will be better.”

Just as I was about to say something in response my phone rang.

It was an unknown number.

“Hello Miss Mona, your father has been attacked!!” a voice shouted at me.
