Chapter 44
Chapter 44
After hesitating for a while, Carlos finally said to Cecile. "Give me days to think about it. I am not the type that makes decisions in a hurry."
Cecile kept a smug look on her face as she stared at Carlos. She knew full well that he was unsure of the decision to make since it was a tough request.
"Alright. If you want some days to think about it then I'm okay with that. But if you don't make your decision within the timeframe of this week then I'm left with no choice but to end my life. I believe you know what happens after that– Camellia dies too,"
"That's enough!" Carlos growled as he took slow paces towards her. He was getting tired of her threats.
"I won't allow you to harm my mate not when I am alive,"
"I see… It's always your mate. It's always nothing but her. What about me?"
"Excuse me. You're nothing to me. Why should I share my feelings with you when you're not my mate? You put her life at risk when you tied it to yours and you expect me not to care about her?"
Cecile shook her head and I could see a tear drop from her eyes. Was she really doing this to me because she wants to get revenge against Goldmoon pack or was she doing it all because she's obsessed with Carlos and can't stand seeing both of us together.
Xavier paced the room, worry written over his face while Desmond flipped through some pages of a magical book. Carlos sat beside me with his hands around me. He was doing his best to comfort me because I wasn't myself anymore.
"Where is Cecile now?" I asked as I raised my head and locked eyes with him, my face tinged with worry.
"She is still in the dungeon for now," He replied to me with a warm smile as he caressed my bicolored hair, his fingers coming in contact with my scalp.
"We can't allow her to walk freely after what she has done. I've assigned ten guards to watch over her. We have carried a search on her to ensure she has no weapons or tools with her."
Carlos added before leaning in to give me a kiss on the forehead. When I felt a little satisfied, I got on both feet and walked up to Desmond who was busy reading between the lines of some magical book.
"Seen anything yet?" I asked with my arms akimbo. I looked quite stressed, all thanks to Cecile.
"Not yet, Camila," Desmond replied as he looked up to face me. He let out a deep sigh before getting on his feet. He moved in my direction and placed both his hands on my shoulder.
"I'll do all I can to find a way to break that spell. I believe the answers and solution to our problem should be in this spell book. My grandmother was a great witch before she died. Whenever there's a problem, she Soughts for solutions from these spell books."
"Cut the crap about some spell book, Desmond." Xavier cut in as he advanced towards Desmond, his face etched with anger and worry.
"You're no witch. Your grandmother might be one okay, but you're not. What we need right now is a great witch or some seer who can help us undo the spell."
"It's Okay, Xav." Carlos cut in as he stood up from the love-shaped purple chair.
He walked to our direction with his eyes fixed on Xavier, an assuring countenance plastered on his face. "I already told my guards to find some witches in town and I know they won't disappoint me. I know witches are now scarce to see as most of them have gone to find a world for themselves but trust me we'll definitely see one."
"I am a witch. I should be able to undo the spell but sadly I can't," I said sadly as I stared at my palms which had those beautiful lines on it. I just wished I was able to find a solution myself.
"You don't have to worry mate. Don't be sad because of that. You're just a newbie witch who's still learning on how to utilize your powers. I believe with time, you'll become a great witch."
Desmond said to me with a warm smile.
I sighed deeply and returned a sad smile at him.
Just then, an idea came to my mind and I snapped my fingers along.
"Why don't we call Kate? I mean, not her but her mom. Why don't we tell her about the current issue on ground? Maybe they can help us." I suggested and my face lit a little as I stared at all three confused eyes of my mate.
"Is Kate's mom a witch?" Carlos asked while I nodded in agreement.
"Yes. Kate is also a witch but her mom is one great witch. Trust me, I can always recommend them since they're terrific. I know they'll be shocked to learn that you now know their secret."
Carlos nodded slightly as he narrowed his eyes at me.
Xavier caressed his brows and said, "If you believe they will be able to solve this problem then who are we to go against it?"
"I'll inform the guards and ask them to bring them here. We don't have to waste more time. As soon as the spell is broken, we won't hesitate to kill Cecile." Carlos emphasized as he wore his shirt, his gaze fixed on me. He made his way towards the door and when he placed his hands on the doorknob, he stopped his movement and turned back to look at me.
"I'll do anything for you mate. Trust me, you won't die along with that stupid witch," He said finally before leaving and closing the door behind him.
After a few minutes of waiting, Kate and her mom finally showed up, giving me a worried look. Kate ran up to me and pulled me in a hug. She cupped my cheeks and said to me, "I'm so sorry all of these are happening to you, Camelia. I heard about what the witch did to you. I'm sure my mom will be able to find a solution to it. Don't panic, okay."
Her words melted my heart and I hugged her tightly once again. Aren't I lucky to have such a great person like her as a friend?
"Let's go in, mate." Xavier muttered as he advanced towards me and held me by the hand. Kate gulped down her saliva and her eyes were fixed on my hands which were clasped in Xavier's hands.
When we got in, Kate's mom brought out some items from her tout bag. They consist of a grimoire, talisman, cowries and salt. She wore a beaded necklace around her neck and I could see some markings on her nape.
Kate sat at a corner, studying her mom closely.
"Come sit in front of me, Camelia," Kate's mother, Mrs Karen, said as she turned to face me.
She was black and had long brown hair and brown eyes. Kate looked so much like her mother except that she was a little fairer because she was mixed.
As I sat in front of Mrs Karen, Xavier and Desmond joined to sit beside me. They watched Mrs Karen closely wondering what she was about to do.
Mrs Karen brought out a tied cloth and a spell book. She began some incantations and I could see her eyes growing wide as she looked like someone who was lost in a trance.
Xavier and Desmond clutched me and gave me an assuring look, trying to cool down my nerves.
I bit my lips as I shifted my gaze at Mrs Karen. She continued with her incantations which were obviously in a foreign language. In our midst was a black mat with cowries, talisman, salt and burning candles.
As Mrs Karen continued with her incantations, suddenly the wind started to haul in the room, shutting windows and closing the spell book.
The fire from the candles went off too and I shuddered as I felt that was a bad omen.
Mrs Karen's eyes widened as she opened them. Blood squirted out from her nose and as she raised her hands to touch the blood, a look of confusion spread across her face.
"You— you're bleeding ma'am," Desmond said to her as he narrowed his eyes on her.
She sprang up as she got on both feet, Her expression filled with fear and horror.
"I can't do it My lord. I – I just can't. I'm sorry," She apologized as she bowed at Alpha Carlos.
"What do you mean you can't do it? What is going on?"
"The spell is too powerful. If I try to undo it, I might lose my life in the process. Only a great witch can be able to undo this kind of spell. I'm sorry I can't do anything about it, Alpha Carlos," Karen confessed, caus
ing all of us to widen our eyes in disbelief.
Fear engulfed me and I felt I was done for.
