CHAPTER 189 - I WILL NOT LET YOU GO
POV: SOPHIE
I struggled to keep my eyes open as I watched the sinister creature rise in the air, flying and gliding with the Alpha in its arms. Even in his feral form, my mate seemed tiny in the face of the imposing winged creature that held him aloft. My eyes felt heavy, and I closed them for a moment. Suddenly, a deafening roar made the ground tremble. As I opened my eyes again, I witnessed King Lycan staggering and speaking with difficulty, addressing the witch.
“You need to get up, Hybrid...” a voice resonated through the wind. “He won't endure for much longer!”
“Harvey...” I whispered, trying to lift my body. I felt magic swirling from head to toe, caressing me gracefully and dispelling some of the drowsiness that afflicted me.
The Alpha's roar was thunderous, followed by a silence that seemed to freeze everything around. The smell of rust became almost palpable in the air. I turned in his direction, surprised to see him smiling as charmingly as the first time he teased me. His lips moved, uttering human words, something my Alpha didn't believe in once.
“I love you!” I shouted as I noticed several daggers embedded in his body, keeping him kneeling on the ground, with blood-forming puddles beneath his legs. My body still didn't respond, but I crawled toward him, determined not to let him perish.
A flash of yellow-toned light appeared in front of him, capturing his attention. I sniffed, unable to identify the owner of this intense radiance.
“Please, save him...” I whispered, widening my eyes when his body fell backward, reaching in time to support his head. “Don't die, my love...”
“Don't shed tears...” He murmured, and it was at that moment that I noticed the tears covering his face.
“I forbid you to abandon me!” I roared, and the magic unfolded in the surrounding field, tingling a shield unconsciously.
Creatures pounded violently on the shield, trying to break it, while the dark witch cast her magic with a furrowed brow, perplexed to see that nothing could pierce the barriers of my protection. No one would hurt those I love; I wouldn't allow it. I would protect them at any cost.
“Our club needs you...” Harvey whispered in my arms.
My wolf stirred, her heartbeat gradually slowing, her organs emitting the smell of death, her body limp and unresponsive, the skin almost gray, lips purple, the last breath escaping from her perfect lips, the last rise of the chest proving that the love of my life was gone.
“The Alpha knew this would happen, Hybrid... He fulfilled his destiny!” Destiny resonated in front of me, crouched.
“What?” I raised my head, staring at the mystical being while caressing the face of my silver wolf.
“We made a deal. This was the outcome of unleashing your power. We can restore balance to this world... You will be fine, we...” He spoke, but I glared at him fiercely. “Sophie, what are you doing?”
I clutched Harvey's body tightly, my eyes dominated by the beast, the ground trembling, stones rising from the soil, and magical chains emerging around me, forming a huge circle of air that repelled even the presumptuous deity in front of me.
“YOU WON'T TAKE HIM FROM ME, ACCURSED GODS!” I shouted furiously.
“Hybrid, end the magic; the fate of the world is drawn. Everyone will perish if we alter the structure of destiny!” shouted the god from the other side of the magic chain.
“TO HELL WITH THAT!” I roared, displaying my claws.
Magic enveloped my entire body in a myriad of vibrant colors. I tilted my head back, staring at the sky, where an infinite symbol stood out, surrounded by flashes of colors outlining the design.
“ALPHA!” I snarled amidst tears, grabbing his face between my hands and closing my eyes. Around me, the she-wolf whimpered, sitting on her hind leg, staring at me firmly, my witch by her side with red eyes filled with the anger and indignation of having our love taken from us. In my human form, I stared at them. “He needs us, and we need him. We are one. I beg you... Help me bring the wolf of our lives back to us!”
The she-wolf roared, scraping her claws forcefully on the ground, while the witch filled her hands with magic, her purple eyes radiating anger. I extended my hands, bringing them to the center. The she-wolf placed her paws on our hands, and together we channeled our strength, our essence, and our lives:
“My she-wolf grants strength, agility, regeneration, and her connection with nature to her alpha.” Intense white light swirled around our bodies, stopping at the top of our heads. “My witch grants her magic, her powers, and her connection with the ancestors to her companion.” Shimmering purple light bristled the she-wolf's fur and our hair, merging with the white light. “My human side grants love, its intensity, and the vitality of its soul to bring the wolf-man of her life back!”
Another blue light ran through us as if embracing our pains, pulling everything with it and rising upwards, merging with the other lights and exploding into a unique power, a soul restoration. I looked at the trembling she-wolf, the drained witch, and my dry hands. We all nodded, determined to continue:
“COME BACK TO US, DESTINED ALPHA!” I opened my eyes, lowering my head to take his lifeless lips, blowing into him the magic from my core that had been absorbed into his body.
The magic still pulsed intensely around us, preventing any creature from approaching, except... Except for the majestic white she-wolf that stood by my side, holding my shoulders and nodding approvingly.
“Return from the limbo of life, cursed King Lycan. We grant you a second chance!” She echoed.
“What are you doing?” shouted Destiny, irritated on the other side.
“The wish of our father!” She turned her snout in his direction and then disappeared, but before that, she uttered, “Return, my rebellious son; your fight is not over yet.”
Tears flooded my eyes, feeling throbbing all over my body and tingling; anxiety took over, and he didn't wake up... His skin is still as cold as a corpse!
“Your alpha abandoned him, Hybrid; you are ours!” laughed the witch over the magic chain, hovering in the air.
I stared at her firmly, possessed; I roared so loudly that I felt my lungs rupturing with its intensity. I lifted from the ground and looked at the witch coldly, who trembled; the claws were prominent. Furthermore, I raised my hands, looking beyond the witch, to the sky, and directly at the infinity symbol, and smiled:
“DESCEND AND KILL THEM ALL!” I shouted, turning the palms of my hands downward and dragging that mysterious symbol down. Its rays, along with fire and water, descended with force.
I crouched, protecting my alpha's body with such force. I raised the shield, protecting him from the falling meteors, the water torrent sweeping the area, the lightning burning everything around us, and killing the creatures that tried to attack us. The wind gusts became more intense, protecting us. I kissed his lips again, closing my eyes.
“Please, come back!” I whispered, feeling my mind being dragged into his essence.
The forest was lifeless; I ran to the cabin and didn't see them there. A roar caught my attention, and I ran in its direction, stopping in shock. The beast had its claws embedded in the ground, holding onto his body and the alpha's, while the rift tried to suck both inside.
“Hybrid, you came...” growled the beast, holding the unconscious body of King Lycan firmly. “Protect him!”
