Chapter 66 – Care.
Chapter 66 – Care.
Thomas walked through Jae Hyun's house with Elisa on his lap. He had just checked on Karim, who remained the same way. In a deep sleep.
He would never have imagined that one day he would be on the same side as Karim. But the world turned.
Elisa mouthed “Papa.” Clapping her cute little hands with joy.
"Hi, my love. What do you want?" Thomas signaled with one hand. “Food?”
And Elisa agreed, signaling with her cute little fingers. “Food.”
Thomas laughed and put her down, preparing her food. He was still worried about Joshua and asked Mother to get her husband well soon.
His thoughts were lost as he remembered everything they had been through, like a movie playing in his mind. A lot had changed in that time and Thomas was happy to have given Joshua a second chance.
His mind snapped back to reality when Elisa hugged his leg. “Papa.” She said and signaled “food.”
Thomas smiled and signaled. “Now.”
Elisa then went to walk around. It was annoying to see Papa cooking without eating anything. She couldn't go too far, otherwise Dad would go crazy and she didn't want that.
Elisa noticed that there was something big, a pot, with something red that looked tasty on top of it. She leaned on the pot of strawberries and picked one up, putting it in her mouth.
And well, soon the baby was all smeared with strawberries. She was laughing because it was so tasty here. At least until Dad ran up to her and shouted her name: “Elisa, what have you done?”
She just clapped her hands and laughed. Thomas bent down in front of her with a tired sigh. Fortunately, she hadn't eaten anything poisonous or hurt herself.
He picked her up and carried her into the bathroom, which had a bathtub. Placing his daughter in the tub, he began to bathe her. Luckily, Jae Hyun kept everything valid. Thomas thought about how lonely the man must have felt there.
It was certainly painful to be away from his child. He couldn't bear to be away from Elisa for long, protecting her from afar didn't make sense to him. But if he had to. He would do anything for her too.
Thomas smiled as he watched his baby playing with the soap bubbles. He wished that this innocence would last forever, but he knew that one day it would change. However, it was his duty that this moment should not be while she was still a baby.
The father dried his daughter off and, after lunch, took her outside to the statue of the Goddess.
“Look, Elisa.” He said pointing to the Mother and the girl looked closely. “That's our Mother, the one who created everything and everyone and we should thank her for creating us.” Thomas said fondly.
Elisa looked at that big, beautiful statue. And Elisa touched it, she felt something she didn't know what it was, but it was good. As if something was protecting her.
The crow, Nix, approached them and chirped." Hey, there's a familiar energy trying to get in. I'll open it."
“Wait.” Thomas said. But it had already been opened.
Thomas held Elisa tightly, ready to protect her. He shivered when someone entered but, fortunately, the smell of that person was comforting.
“Joshua.” He walked quickly over to his husband and hugged him. “I've missed you.”
Joshua was on crutches, but most of his injuries had improved. Even so, he gasped slightly in pain as he was hugged.
“I'm sorry.” Thomas apologized, looking at him worriedly. “Come and sit down.”
Thomas pulled him inside and made him sit on a chair and gave Elisa to him while he ran to fetch bandages, should they be needed.
Meanwhile, Joshua held his daughter and kissed her forehead. “And how is my princess?” He tickled her, making her laugh.
Elisa put her hands in her father's hair and pulled. Joshua grunted in pain but ended up smiling.
“How naughty you are.” He laughed, removing her hand from his head and stroking hers.
Elisa just laughed and looked away from her father, observing the scene. There was always something new to discover there.
Just then, Thomas returned and asked Joshua: “Are you still in pain?”
"I'm fine. Just seeing you and Elisa makes me feel better." The alpha smiled, reassuring his omega by caressing his face.
They kissed and caressed each other's faces. “I love you.” The couple said in unison.
Thomas sat down next to him on that old but well-preserved sofa. And leaned his head on his shoulder.
"I missed you. I'm glad you forgave me." Joshua kissed his forehead.
And in return, Thomas kissed his cheek. “And I'm glad I forgave you.” He said, looking at him lovingly.
They ended up falling asleep like that until something woke them up. Joshua felt something in his chest, a warm, protective feeling. Something he didn't know where it came from. Because it didn't cause him any pain.
“What is it?” Thomas signaled, a little awkwardly, in a sleepy way.
“I think Sera is fulfilling her mission.” Joshua smiled.
“Do you feel more powerful?” Thomas asked, curious. That wouldn't happen with him, only with the first-born. “How does it feel?”
"It's like... something warm in your heart. Something that protects and cherishes you. And the power is intense, powerful, deep. As if all my ancestors were with me here." Joshua replied, putting his hand on his chest and feeling that sensation.
"It's wonderful, Tom. There's not much I can explain." He continued, speechless.
They didn't communicate for a few moments, until an intense glow appeared outside.
Thomas asked Joshua to stay with Elisa. “You can't push yourself.” He emphasized with a serious look.
Thomas went towards the light and noticed that it wasn't something evil, after all, it was coming from the Mother's temple.
He carefully made his way towards the temple and entered, the intense light momentarily blinding him.
When the light was gone, Thomas found something small and oval on the ground. It was a golden seed. A seed from the sacred tree.
Thomas didn't understand the Mother's reasons for doing this, but he would listen to her. Taking the seed, he planted it carefully, right next to the temple. And seconds later, the rain fell.
He ran inside, looking at where he had planted the seed with a smile. A new sacred tree would be planted and finally, the bloodlines would be restored towards a new future for the children to come.
