455- A Deal with the Alpha
POV Thalyndra Moonclaw:
My chest hummed in a low purr. The damned wolf inside me responding to his animal. Anton growled, it was guttural, animalistic, full of dominance and supremacy.
"Let me go," I whispered, my voice hoarse from my dry throat.
At the same time I asked him to let me go, I didn't want to leave that place. I felt satisfied near him, as if there were a connection between us, as if we were more than just that.
I pressed my eyes, keeping the air inside my lungs. Breathing near him, absorbing his scent, made my thoughts jumbled. I couldn't concentrate, couldn't think straight.
Slowly, he pulled his arms away from me. With wobbly legs and my heart about to leap out of my throat, I stood up. I took two steps, keeping a safe distance, and then turned to him.
Anton held the sides of the chair with clenched hands; his nails were elongated like sharp claws. His strong chest rose and fell in rapid succession. I lifted my gaze to his face, noticing the muscle in his jaw jumping from his gritted teeth. His eyes weren't their usual shade. One was green and the other golden. It seemed like an internal duel. Man and beast in disagreement.
"What... what's the problem?" I stammered, rubbing my trembling hands over my neck.
He followed each of my movements with watchful eyes, fixed on me. At the same time he seemed like a normal man, it was very clear he was much more than that. The way he moved, the way he carried himself, his mannerisms, everything was abnormal.
"The problem is that I'm hard because I have your nice ass right on top of my dick. While I try to maintain the minimum decency that exists in me, my most primal side orders me to do the opposite; after all, I'm an Eldoria, I don't have to be decent." His voice was deep and hoarse.
I swallowed hard.
"And do you consider yourself a decent man?"
He laughed, his fangs showing with the movement.
"Not at all."
"Then why are you trying to be with me?"
His mismatched eyes—the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen—met mine. His pupils were dilated, the emerald-green eye shining intensely, just like the golden one.
“Because I don't want you to hate me more than you already do,” he said in a serious, sincere tone.
I huffed, bewildered.
I took a step back, then another, and another, until I had put enough distance between us. I circled around the desk, widening the gap even more. Placing my hands on the backrest of one of the chairs facing him, I waited.
He turned to face me. His eyes had already returned to normal, and even his movements seemed more natural.
“All right, now we can discuss what the problem is,” he sighed, gesturing.
I ran a hand through my hair, pushing the strands back.
“The problem is that you've made me a prisoner,” I growled, reliving all my anger once again.
He blinked slowly, looking bored.
“I didn't make you a prisoner.”
“Oh, of course you didn't! I just can't leave this place on my own. I'm trapped here without even being allowed to go into town.”
“It's for your safety.”
I pressed my fingers hard into the chair's backrest, sinking them into the soft padding.
“Let me explain something to you, Anton. Kidnapping someone, dragging them unconscious to another place, and keeping them there without allowing them to leave is called kidnapping, in case you're not aware.”
He exhaled sharply and threw his arms into the air.
“So now I can't even be an exemplary gentleman without being accused of kidnapping?”
I clenched my teeth.
“I'm deeply impressed by your gentlemanly behavior.”
He placed a hand over his chest.
“I'm grateful to hear that, considering how much effort I put into keeping you safe.”
“Yes, so much effort,” I hissed, losing my patience.
He looked at me through his heavy lashes.
“In case you've forgotten, I carried you to Eldoria in my arms. And you're heavy, so yes, it took effort. I did all that to keep you safe and still haven't received a single thank-you.”
I was so stressed that one of my eyes twitched on its own. My gums ached, and my teeth lengthened into sharp fangs.
“Heavy?” I growled furiously, my nails extending.
He leaned forward, pressing his lips together.
“Out of everything I said, that's the only thing you heard?”
Acting on pure impulse and fueled by rage, I grabbed a stapler from the desk and hurled it at him with all my strength.
Anton dodged just in time.
The object slammed into the wall and shattered into pieces.
He glanced down at the floor and then back at me.
“You really are strong. That would've done some serious damage to my face. And let's be honest—that would've been a terrible waste.”
