Kael’s Wrath Unleashed
Kael’s Wrath Unleashed
The castle walls trembled as Kael’s fury reverberated through the hallways, his every step an echo of impending devastation. Lyra stood frozen, her heart in her throat, as the scream that had pierced the air still lingered.
"Kael!" she cried out, her voice panicked as she rushed to the courtyard, her legs weak beneath her.
The warriors had scattered like frightened sheep, but Kael was a predator among them, eyes wild with the kind of anger that could level mountains. The beast inside him—the Alpha—was clawing to escape, to release its rage on anyone who had dared to cross him.
Lyra’s breath caught as she entered the courtyard. The warrior who had poisoned her—the one who had once fought by Kael’s side—was now on his knees in the center of the training grounds. His hands were bound, blood dripping from a deep gash across his cheek, his breath coming in sharp gasps as he knelt before Kael.
"Kael," Lyra whispered, unable to move, her body locked in place by the intensity of the moment.
Kael was a living storm. His eyes—once the dark amber of a loyal Alpha—were now glowing a fierce, blinding gold, a sign of the beast inside him breaking free.
"You thought you could poison her?" Kael’s voice was low, a deadly growl that reverberated in the pit of her stomach. His voice was not his own. It was the voice of a creature born from rage, a wolf who ruled with terror. "You thought you could harm my mate and walk away with your life?"
The warrior on his knees trembled, sweat beading on his forehead, his eyes darting between Kael and Lyra. He knew the danger he was in, but the fear was obvious on his face.
"Please, Alpha," the warrior begged, his voice cracking, desperation clinging to every word. "It wasn’t—"
"It wasn’t what?" Kael cut him off, his voice a whip, sharp and commanding. "A misunderstanding? You poisoned her. My mate. For what? Power? To weaken me?"
The warrior’s breath hitched, his eyes desperate for mercy. "I—I was just following orders. You’ve changed, Kael. The pack... they want her gone. They think she’s a curse. They think she’s the reason for everything falling apart."
His looked toward Lyra, and for the briefest moment, guilt washed over his face.
"I thought if she was gone, things would go back to normal."
Lyra’s heart hammered in her chest, her pulse thudding in her ears. The realization hit her like a slap: they had been plotting behind Kael’s back, manipulating him, hoping to tear them apart. She was the cause of the fracture in their world. The pack had decided she was a liability, and now they would do anything to rid themselves of her.
But Kael—her Kael—was not a man to let anyone, especially not his pack, challenge him.
"No one touches her," Kael snarled, his grip tightening on the warrior’s arm. The man whimpered, his eyes wide, but Kael’s expression remained cold. "No one hurts what belongs to me."
Kael yanked him to his feet, the warrior’s legs buckling beneath him, and in a blur of movement, he lifted him into the air as if he were nothing more than a ragdoll. The air around them seemed to grow heavy, the atmosphere thick with the crackling energy of Kael’s Alpha power. It was a clear force—wild and uncontrollable.
Lyra’s heart raced, a swirl of emotions flooding her chest. Fear. Anger. Pain. But through it all, she couldn’t tear her eyes away from Kael. She had never seen him like this—so raw, so unrestrained. His wolf was fully in control now, and it wasn’t the man she had fallen for. This was something different. Something darker.
"Kael..." she whispered, her voice faltering.
Kael’s gaze snapped to her. His golden eyes softened for the briefest moment, but they were still filled with a dangerous, uncontrolled fire. He gave the warrior one last look—a look of disgust—before he dropped him to the ground. The man hit the earth with a heavy thud, gasping for air.
Kael stepped back, his shoulders heaving with the force of his anger.
"I trusted you," he spat, his voice hoarse with emotion. "You were family."
The warrior coughed, his face pale, blood trickling from his mouth. He looked up at Kael, pleading for mercy, but Kael was beyond reasoning. His wolf would not allow it.
Lyra took a step forward, her heart breaking for Kael. She could see the toll this was taking on him—the weight of the betrayal, the brutal justice that had to be served. She knew that part of him didn’t want to do this. He didn’t want to tear apart the bond he had with his pack, but the poison that had seeped into their ranks was too dangerous. He couldn’t allow it to fester.
Without a word, Kael raised his hand and motioned to his warriors. "Take him to the dungeons," he ordered. "He’ll face the council."
The warrior’s eyes widened in terror, but he was quickly dragged away by two of Kael’s men. His screams echoed through the courtyard, fading as he was hauled off into the depths of the castle.
"I’m sorry," Kael muttered, his voice breaking through the silence. His gaze shifted to Lyra, his expression conflicted. "I never wanted you to see that. I never wanted you to see me like that."
Lyra didn’t speak at first. She couldn’t find the words. She wanted to reach for him, to tell him that it wasn’t his fault, that the weight of the world didn’t have to fall on his shoulders. But all she could do was look at him—the man she loved, the Alpha who had always protected her, but who was now struggling under the immense pressure of the pack’s demands.
"You did what you had to do," Lyra finally said, her voice soft, her heart aching for him. "But Kael… the pack—they won’t stop. This isn’t over."
Kael turned toward her, his eyes flashing with renewed fury. "I don’t care. They will stop. Or they’ll face the consequences."
Lyra stepped forward, placing a hand on his arm, her fingers trembling slightly.
"But what about us? What about the bond we share? Will that be enough to hold you together? Will it be enough to stop the pack from tearing us apart?"
Kael turned his head sharply to meet her gaze, his eyes burning with intensity. "I don’t know." His voice was barely a whisper, but it was the most honest thing he had said in days. "But I’m not going to let them take you from me. I won’t let them destroy what we have."
And for the first time in weeks, Lyra felt a sense of calm settle over her, despite the chaos around them.
Before Lyra could say anything more, the ground trembled once again, this time more violently. The castle shook with an intensity that rattled the very foundations. Kael’s eyes widened, a sudden realization hitting him.
"It’s happening," he muttered, a deadly edge to his voice. "The final transformation."
And then, the howl—an earth-shattering, harsh sound—ripped through the air, coming from deep within the castle’s walls.
