CHAPTER 65 Dream

Drew

After picking up our private planes and dropping off Franco and Addie in Manila, we all flew to Beijing, China. I decided to take a nap before we landed. After our wedding night, I needed to rest. I may be wolf, but I am not invincible.

I asked Charles to fix the small room at the end of my plane. It had a good sized bed with a  bathroom that had a functioning shower for long flights. Once Charles mind-linked me the room was ready, I quickly kissed Fire on the forehead and left her to chat with her aunt.

Once my head hit the pillow, I immediately fell asleep. I felt calm, peaceful and extremely happy. With Fire by my side, my world felt complete.

I dreamt I was floating amidst the stars towards the moon which was so huge and bright, making the darkness around me appear blue. Despite being up in the sky, I felt surprisingly warm. From time to time, a cool breeze would blow, ruffling my hair. It was quite breathtaking being so close to the moon. I could see the little craters on its surface against its luminescence.

As I continued to 'fly', I was surprised to see I was wearing a white robe while my feet were bare. Since I was alone, I decided to check if I had underwear on since I could feel a slight breeze near my nether regions. As expected, no underwear. I gingerly placed the ends of my robe over my legs, fervently praying for the wind to stay calm.

Was I dreaming? This all felt so real. I placed a hand to my cheek and slapped myself. It actually hurt. This couldn't be real. As I rubbed my sore cheek, I tried to clear my mind and think. There was no way I could be actually flying towards the moon... or was I?

With each passing moment, the moon became bigger and brighter as I flew towards it. I struggled to stop, desperately trying to turn my body around and fly back to where I came from. However, the more I struggled, the more I was pulled towards the moon. Eventually, I gave up and stopped struggling. Instead, I braced myself for impact, shielding my eyes with my arms from the bright light of the moon.

Suddenly, I felt my feet land on something cool. I slowly lowered my arms and found myself standing on a cloud. I chuckled, relieved. I was so relieved I began stomping on the cloud, like a child, amazed it could hold my weight.

"Ahem, Drew. Stop being an embarrassment," Dragon, my wolf, suddenly said. I stopped, wondering why I couldn't see his face in my head although his voice was as loud as ever.

"Like you've danced around on a cloud before," I scoffed at him, continuing to jump and skip around the lone floating cloud.

"I can see you're enjoying yourself, but it is customary to bow to the Moon Goddess when you are in her presence," Dragon uttered. I stopped prancing around, puzzled.

"Wait...what?" I lifted my eyes away from the cloud and glanced at the bright moon. Standing in front of me was a tall woman with silver hair as bright as moonlight, glowing dark blue eyes, red lips and ebony skin. She was wearing a sleeveless white see-through gown which showed the top of her ample breasts while her skirt billowed along with the wind. Her feet were slender and bare. Seated beside her was a large black wolf, with white paws and brown eyes.

I stared at her with my mouth open. I couldn't move nor speak. I was rooted at the spot, gazing at her in awe.

"Drew, bow," Dragon said, howling. That's when I realized, Dragon was the large wolf seated beside the Moon Goddess. I immediately fell to my knees, bowing low.

"My apologies, Moon Goddess. I can not believe I am blessed to see you in my life time," I said, after lifting my head.

"That is quite alright, my child. Stand. There is much to discuss. I'm afraid time is not on our side," she said. Her voice was husky and song-like, echoing around us. I stood up and focused all of my attention on her.

"How can I be of service, Moon Goddess?" I asked. She smiled brightly at me. Even her teeth glowed.

"Your mother has always spoken highly of you. She is very proud of the man you've become, Drew."

"Y-You've spoken with my mother, Moon Goddess?" I asked, shocked.

"Of course. She is here with me... as well as all wolves of the past. She has told me I can rely on you to help me. There is a war brewing against the wolves and the vampires once again. Their God, Maacah, and I have long had an understanding. Unfortunately, the King of the Vampires does not honor this agreement and thus, has put us in a precarious situation," she said.

"The golden-eyed wolf, a daughter of Lupa, is the world's safeguard against black magic. The Enchantress, on the other hand, created by me and the Virgin Maiden Aludra, was made to safeguard the world from the predators of the night. To make her a special conduit of magic, we blessed her with another wolf, a brown wolf. Aside from being a conduit, the brown wolf is also a shield. The wolf possesses the power to block magic. This was why the Vampire Witch could never win against Ying Yue. Yet, the Witch sought other means, using poison to incapacitate Ying Yue. This, sadly, led to the Enchantress' defeat." The Moon Goddess' face grew dark as she recounted the treachery. "The vampires should never be underestimated. Their will knows no end."

"Regardless, to seal our agreement with Maacah, we allowed the Vampire God to bless the brown wolf providing her the privilege to choose the next leader of the vampires. Yet, with the blessing bestowed, an anomaly was created. The brown wolf took upon itself a vampire mate."

"Yes, Moon Goddess. However, a wolf killed this supposed vampire mate upon the given order of Fire," I said.

"I know. I had stressed the mating between wolf and vampire was forbidden and thus, Fire, I assume, believed it was better to remove an obstacle from her path, without thinking the brown wolf would suffer from her actions."

"The brown wolf, you speak of, Moon Goddess, what has happened to her?" I asked.

"She is desolate, forlorn, and heart-broken and has receded into the depths of the wolf realm. Air, Fire's white wolf, has tried to console her, but her anguish has made her reject Air's efforts. Fire, I know has also tried to ask her for her forgiveness, but she will not listen." The Moon Goddess shook her head sadly.

"Drew, my child, this is where I ask for your help. I need you and Dragon to become the brown wolf's strength. Without the brown wolf, Fire's power will weaken. I fear Fire will not be able to open the dragon's eye and thus, no blue flame will erupt from the Flaming Sword. I need you to bring the brown wolf out unto the surface and show her how beautiful the world is. Make Earth trust you. Make Earth love you. Make Earth's shattered world whole again."

"Alpha Drew, please wake up. We are about to land," I suddenly heard Charles' voice. I opened my eyes and was startled to see everyone on the plane staring at me. "Forgive me, Alpha. Your father tried to wake you up earlier, but we couldn't get you to open your eyes. You were murmuring in your sleep."

I sat up on the bed and patted myself down. I wasn't wearing a white robe. I was in a polo shirt and trousers.

"Dragon, was all of that just a dream?" I asked.

"No, Drew. We communed with the Moon Goddess. Ask Fire out on a date in the forest tonight. We need to make Earth fall in love with us."
