157. Different Roles

Cora

I spent all morning clearing some of the woods by my house. I would not clear all the trees. For a few reasons one they were living beings', part of an ecosystem, not only that but because there needed to be trees around, I wouldn’t just clear the area wiping it clean and planting new ones like other neiborhood's and cities did. And lastly to make sure the wolfs that would be joining White Paw Pack would need a place to let their wolves out. I kept a lot of trees and a whole lot of the woods surrounding our house.

Jax had started shifting with Max once he had built the barn. He had done a great job. The Barn had holes left out for windows. It was not going to be a structure that needed to be really set up in ways that are modern. We just needed a covered place to meet. Jax had a huge pavilion at our place in Hemmings and I thought a barn would be a fitting alternative, and Max had built it.

I looked at all the lumber I had stacked along the property it would all need some kind of preservatives to actually do construction with any of it. We were in a mountainous region maybe I should just use stone and pull it from the earth. The floors could be wooden. I sighed looking at Max’s barn. Thing would last for a while, but it was wood, and it had been cut up and was not in the ground growing anymore with a bark outside keeping it strong. I knew the bar would have to be done again if I didn’t soon put something on the outside of it. With a coating of some kind it could stand for a long time. Jax came up to me wrapping his arms around my waist and pushing up my large breasts.

“I can’t believe you cleared this much.” Jax said kissing the top of my head. “Yeah, I know but I think the town should be mostly made of stone. The inside can have wood, you know there is so many towns mostly European ones made of stone. Or I don’t know look at the massive inn you took me to in Ashville it is all made of stone and is still standing or even the Biltmore estate. I think stone is going to be better this wood can be used inside of the homes.” I said in response. “Cora how many books have you absorbed? You sure seem to know a bunch about this stuff.”

I laughed. “I don’t know I mean I got up early this morning and went through the stuff you and John brought me. That was easy, though I still don’t think I am equipped to do the plumbing though I can help managing building the stuff when it comes to digging out stuff for the plumbing. You didn’t bring books on dealing with building with stone so I will need more information, but I do know that the wood on the barn needs to be coated in something or it will rot away, my guess by the end of winter. Seeing as we get a fair amount of snow.” Jax now laughed.

“My mate the architect.” I knew I was not that, I was just a witch who could do practically anything. The Channeling was the best for accomplishing most things. The earth was the most powerful thing It was pure unadulterated raw magic, and I had access to it at any given time. Maybe that was the thing, Hecate had to know that and with blood I was unstoppable. That cliché quote came to mind “With great power comes great responsibility." I knew it was true, but the quote was used all time, maybe I could come up with a better one I thought. I laughed at the thought.

I was a nobody, why would I make a quote. “So, what are your plans for the rest of the day?” Jax asked. I knew he already had tucked Max in. He would be sleeping for a while with everything he did today. It would just be Jax and I. Well, unless he had other things to do. He would have to meet with John and see how to go about it with Tanner, he also would need to look at maps and carve out land he wanted. Was I supposed to be part of that? I doubted it. I had not grown up here and despite knowing the earth I had not spent near enough time in that area to know what area to get ahold of. No, even if Jax wanted my input I wouldn’t participate.

My job was primarily to build. “I am going to go get some books on masonry and stuff like that, I also want to get on a computer and look at some inspiration. I can hire so electricians and plumbers to get to come out here. I need to have the homes standing before they do anything. Maybe get some books also on how to do that stuff so at least I know where to make space in the stone buildings for that stuff. So, to answer your question I need to do a shit load of research.”

“So, I am guessing that means you are in charge of building for this town and pack?” I sighed; this was a massive undertaking. “Yeah, I guess so. I guess I just lost my job as an advisor.” Jax said “You will get it back I am sure once all of this is settled, for the record once we decided to dedicate to Max’s training, I told the people at the distillery I was going to be taking a major step back. But I have people who can manage.” I sighed again. This would take a while even with my magic, we could have a boatload of people moving here within a month which was manageable but the township and all that probably would take over a year, though I really didn’t know. It was our property, and I knew we would need permits to build on it. How long would that take. Maybe I could use some magic to spread that along though I had no idea.

Yet another thing I would need to research. I knew the barn Max constructed was not permitted, I would have to rectify that. This was very taxing to say the least. “What do you plan to do all day?” I asked Jax who remained behind me holding my waist. My stomach and overall, my whole body was sore from last night. I had bruising and the cut from Jax branding was aching, but I would get through it. If anything, the pain made me feel good, I liked thinking about the dominance Jax used when we intimate, not to mention the pain, what could I saw I was a masochist through and through. “Probably need to meet with John, you know plan and shit”

“I wanted to ask how you are feeling?” I smiled he knew everything about me and could feel as I did. Of course, he knew I was in pain and wanted to give me an outlet if I wanted to talk to him about it. “Jax, I am fine, sore, you know.” I knew he was nodding despite not looking at him. “But, you also know that I like it. I like the reminder of our shenanigans.” Jax again kissed the top of my head. “You are perfect you know that?” I smiled. “I am not perfect,” making a little joke I said “Though I am as close to perfect as possible. Maybe I am Mary Poppins. She had magic and as she said, ‘Practically Perfect in every way’.” I laughed and Jax did too.

“Should I now refer to you as Mary?” I turned and looked at him. “No, of course not but I do think that movie was based off a witch” Jax responded with “Of course it was.” He finally left the outside and went inside. Jax went to his office he was mind linking John and I grabbed my keys and purse knowing I needed to go get books. I knew Hemmings was close but decided Ashville was better considering Tanner had just been here and made it clear he wanted me dead. There was no way I was going into that area. I didn’t like hurting others. So, best not to put myself in that position.
