Chapter 66. Crying Like A Virgin

Chapter 66. Crying Like A Virgin
Riley didn’t finish her shower in exactly ten minutes as Logan had requested. She took a long time in the bathroom. Eleven minutes. Then she took so long to get dressed because she stopped in front of her closet for ten minutes to daydream. She stared blankly at the contents of her closet, as if there were no clothes that interested her at all. She finally grabbed a warm pale pink knit sweater, white jeans, a scarf, and she put on the shoes that Wren had bought for her. It was to appreciate all Wren’s kindness to her. She was actually worried about Wren now.

"You're late."

"I know. Are you going to punish me?” Riley said indifferently. She remained standing and had no intention of sitting next to Logan.

"We'll have a special time to punish you. Now, we need breakfast. Jacob, take us to Charleston Blvd."

Jacob nodded briefly and walked away to get the car ready. Riley glanced at Jacob briefly. She caught something strange in Jacob. Jacob's gaze looked different. Jacob didn't sympathize with her like yesterday. Today Jacob seemed to pity her which seemed condescending in her eyes.

"Let's go now. We only have less than an hour for breakfast.”

"Why force yourself to eat breakfast when you're too busy to have breakfast."

Logan watched Riley intensely. From head to toe. Riley's appearance was simple, but she was beautiful in any outfit because she already had a natural beauty in her. But he detected an oddity in Riley's appearance.

"You didn't use the shoes from your wardrobe?"

"I'm fine with these shoes."

"Wren? She bought you those shoes."

"Can't I wear Wren's shoes?" Riley glared at Logan.

"They're ugly and old-fashioned."

"But they're so comfortable. My feet don't get cold in them."

"Whatever. You're just wasting my time with all that crap about them."

Riley snorted and followed Logan, who was walking too fast in front of her.

"What about Wren? You didn't hurt him, did you?"

Logan didn't say anything and kept walking fast in front of her. Jacob was waiting by the passenger door and opened the door for them.

Riley snorted behind him, trying to get an answer to her question. She would not give up on getting answers from Logan. She got into the car after Jacob opened the door. She didn't thank Jacob like she usually did because she was too lazy to talk to Jacob. She was a little angry at Jacob because he didn't want to help her, and instead told her to be what Logan wanted her to be. She felt betrayed by Jacob. At first, Jacob seemed kind and cared for her. But it turned out that Jacob was just like Logan's other men.

The car moved slowly, leaving the courtyard of Logan's mansion. An old man opened the door and trembled slightly as he gripped the railing. He was probably over seventy years old. Every hand was shaking and his body was like a thin leaf that could be blown away by the wind at any time.

"Who's he?"

"Gatekeeper. Housekeeper. Weston."

"He looks very old."

"He's been working here since we bought this house. He's been with us for over thirty years. This is my late father's house."

"I assume you rarely use this house."

“I lived here when I had business in Las Vegas. I live in that house quite often.”

"Oh..."

Riley didn't know why such small talk had to be done. They spoke stiffly. Like two people who just met at the bus stop, then forced to talk about something unimportant just to pass the time and get rid of boredom. Everything that happened last night didn't bring them any closer. In fact, they just got further away. And Logan seemed to put a shield around him.

"What about Wren?"

Logan didn't answer. His eyes stared straight ahead. In his hand, he held a cell phone with a dead screen. He hoped someone would call him so he could have an excuse to avoid the question.

"You heard me asking you. How's Wren? You didn't hurt him, did you?"

Riley saw Jacob slightly glanced at her in the rearview mirror because of her harsh and cold tone. Jacob was probably surprised to see her having the audacity to say such a rude thing to his boss. But Riley didn't care. Instead, she wanted Jacob to know that she wasn't that weak.

"I haven't touched him. He'll be fine as long as he doesn't try to make trouble with me."

"Don't hurt anyone anymore. You've got me. How's Kaella?"

“Well cared for by the best doctor. She will recover.”

“What proves that she is fine, and you didn't kill her?”

"You'll see her at home soon."

"So we're going home?"

"You want to stay here?"

"No. I'd rather live in New York. At least, I have friends there.”

"Kaella will return to her home."

"You fired her?" Riley turned her head in surprise and was half angry. "After you hurt her, you're going to send her home battered?"

“What do you expect from a traitor, Riley?” Logan smirked. "She should have been killed instead of being left alive."

Riley snorted in annoyance. She didn't like the way Logan smirked in front of her. It reminded her of the bad guys in the action movies she'd seen. She never imagined that one day she would face such people. Yes, she was too innocent and naive. She suspected that bad people with terrible cunning only existed in films. It turned out that people like that existed in the real world. Now she was even sitting next to him and they were talking.

“What if Kaella reports you to the police?”

"I will make sure she doesn't do that after I send her home. She will be sent home once her condition improves. She will be monitored twenty-four hours a day. You are not allowed to talk to or see her without my permission."

“You know, I wonder why God is still giving you a chance to live after what you've been doing all this time. You should have died, Logan. Kicked out of this world.”

Riley's words contained hatred and anger. Logan did not expect that his heart could feel pain after hearing those words. His heart was as if it had just been stabbed with an invisible sword. He kept his gaze straight ahead, but his palms were clenched in his lap. How bad of an effect those words had on him. For years, he thought his heart was dead. He never cared about the bad judgment about him out there. To him, it was all bullshit because they didn't know what really happened to him. But, when Riley said it directly in front of him, with all the anger she had, he felt his heart hurt and break. He discovered that those words had an effect on his very fragile emotions in his soul.

"Well, it's a shame I'm still here and will always be your nightmare."

Riley didn't say anything. She glanced at Logan and inched away from Logan until her shoulder was against the window. She needed to calm herself from all the anger, fear, and sadness she was feeling. How could her life change in an instant? From an innocent girl who was very naive to a bitch who hated the world and her sad life.

"Come on down. We only have thirty minutes for breakfast. Jacob, you wait here."

Jacob nodded faintly. He looked at Riley through the rearview mirror, then went outside to open the door.

Meanwhile, Riley remained where she was, clinging to the door and letting Jacob walk around the car to open the door at her side. Jacob knocked lightly on the car window, gesturing her to move away from the door because he was about to pull the door.

"You will fall."

Riley froze. She wanted to stay in the car, but Logan suddenly opened the car door. She fell face down on the asphalt, while Logan towered over her.

“Arghh… Why did you open the door when I was leaning against the window?” Riley groaned and snapped angrily.

Her shoulder blades and palms ached terribly.

“Get up. You made me lose five precious minutes because of your childishness.”

"You can leave me in the car. I don't need breakfast."

"You need breakfast to recover from last night's sex."

Riley blushed. She had time to see Jacob's face also blushed because of Logan's words that were too vulgar.

"I exhausted you last night. You need to eat to get your strength back.”

"I'm tired. I just want to lie in bed all day.”

“You will get it after this. You can take a break while I work. Get up quickly."

Logan pulled her hand roughly. Riley groaned in pain as a painful sting shot through the entire side of her left hand, like her bones were breaking.

“Can you do it slowly and gently?”

"You don't like being treated gently. You prefer rough things, don't you? Like last night."

Riley blushed. She turned her face to the right as Logan stared at her with a lewd grin. She had to learn to restrain herself from getting angry or even crying every time Logan teased her in an indecent way. There was no point in being sad or even crying like a virgin who had just lost her virginity. Logan would not care about her sadness. As long as Logan got what he wanted he would not hesitate to hurt her.
