Chapter 52. He Got Riley Back

Chapter 52. He Got Riley Back
Logan drummed his fingertips on the marble table as he stared at the woman with shoulder-length black hair who looked scared under his intense gaze. The woman tried to look okay by fiddling with the sticker notes on her desk, her eyes moving left and right, as if she was trying to get away from Logan's gaze. Sweat dripped down her forehead and made her bangs stick to her forehead. It wasn't sweat from the heat, Logan knew for sure that she was nervous.

"Let me know as soon as possible if you—"

Logan didn't need to hear more bullshit from Wren's damn mouth. He only needed to hear one thing, and he had already got what he wanted.

"What did Wren tell you, Lucy?"

The woman looked up. She trembled as her gaze collided with Logan's cold gaze.

"Doctor Wren will be off for a week. He has important business in Las Vegas."

"What else did he say?"

"N-nothing, sir," Lucy gulped nervously.

Lucy was unlucky because she had to deal with Logan Hatcher, one of the largest shareholders in the hospital. Everyone always avoided having problems with Logan Hatcher because this man always gave off an ominous aura. Most people who met Logan in person would have bad luck because Logan never met someone if that person didn't intrude on his territory or cause problems with him.

"Don't lie to me, Lucy. I could fire you and make you a bum. You have a lot of debt for your home loan and living expenses for your siblings. So, tell me the truth.”

"I swear, that's all Doctor Wren said. He said he was going to Las Vegas for a week. He was reluctant to mention his specific interests. Please don't fire me. I really need this job.”

Logan smirked slyly. He was absolutely sure that this woman was telling the truth. Wren was clearly lying to him. He said to him that he was on a business trip to Miami. That was suspicious. He was sure that Wren was with Riley and he was trying to hide her from him.

"You have a database of all the doctors who've worked here, right?"

“Some are no longer in the database. Doctors who have long retired and died are no longer in the database.”

"Find me all the information you can get on Stuart Blackmore."

Lucy moved quickly to type the name of Wren's late father, who used to work at the hospital. She did not ask what Logan Hatcher's purpose was to find the data of the late Blackmore, who was so legendary. For some people, Doctor Stuart Blackmore was a hero because Stuart Blackmore always fought earnestly to save his patients. He donated his pension fund for medical expenses for poor people who had financial difficulties to go to the hospital.

Years ago, Doctor Blackmore was the favorite doctor in the hospital. His son took over his father's position and became a popular doctor in the hospital because of his skills and kindness in treating patients. Deep down, Lucy felt guilty that she had leaked the data of the late doctor Blackmore and his son to Logan Hatcher.

“We still have data on Stuart Blackmore. You want me to read them all?”

“I want to know where he came from and his address before he died."

"It says the late Dr. Blackmore was from Seattle. His address was Warwick."

Logan frowned deeply. Warwick wasn't something he'd ever heard from Wren or Stuart. All he knew was that Stuart used to live in an apartment downtown. And now it was taken over by Wren. He had never heard them mention Warwick.

"Give me the full address."

“Bellvale Lakes Road, Warwick. That's the address written here."

"Good job Lucy. I won't fire you. But—"

Logan bowed his head low until it was level with Lucy's frowning face. Her head was moved back three inches to keep her distance from Logan's face.

“— this is a little secret between us. Don't tell anyone that I came to ask for Doctor Blackmore's address. Do you understand?"

“I-I understand. I will keep this a secret from everyone.”

"Good. Get back to work."

Logan walked away from Lucy's small room. The woman seemed to be shaking as he stepped out of her room. Lucy's face was pale, and she was so scared. But who cares? Logan was satisfied with what he got from poor Lucy. It was not in vain that he learned to bully and threaten others. It was very useful for finding the answers he needed.

"Have you found out who helped Riley sneak out of my house?"

"....."

“Do all bugs get a clear record?”

"....."

“Hmm… just one bug. I know. She's been really careful not to get caught, but still her little secret won't escape me. Prepare her. I want to say hello to her when I get home.”

Someone on the other end hung up the phone and left Logan in such delightful satisfaction. It didn't take long to track down Riley and find the people involved in her escape. He had all the resources that could help him.

Logan put the phone back to his ear. He called his other men to do something.

“Jack, go to Warwick right now. Find information about a house on Bellvale Lakes Road and who occupies the house. Do it quietly. I want that information by tonight at the latest. The sooner, the better. You understand?"

Logan hung up the phone and put it in his coat pocket. Plan A was working brilliantly. He just needed to wait for Jack's information to move on to plan B. Hopefully, Kaella wouldn't complicate the process and force him to raise his hand to hurt her.
