THIRTY THREE. Drama and Blood
The sound of the bullet exploding echoed twice amidst the eerie silence. Alan's body fell to the ground after two bullets hit his chest and head fiercely.
Riley could hardly believe what she had just done. She had killed someone. She was a murderer. Her hand reflexively threw the gun to the ground after Logan jerked her arm roughly.
“What have you done to me?” Riley cried hysterically.
Logan ordered his men to clean up all the mess. While he remained standing, watching Riley's stiff body that had just slumped to the ground. Riley fell to her knees while crying in a heartbreaking voice.
“Good job, Riley. They will be sent to Cooper Smillow. A special package.”
Riley didn't even care anymore about all the words that Logan whispered in her ear. Logan had turned her into a murderer. She was a terrible monster. Her hands were stained with blood.
"Stand up. There's no point in crying over something that has happened. You just killed Alan."
"Not me. I didn't kill Alan. You pulled the trigger of the gun."
“But you held the gun in your hand. If the police investigate the fingerprints on the gun, the police will arrest you as a murderer.”
"No. I'm not a murderer!" Riley howled with deep sadness on her face.
"Yes, you are a murderer. Now it's time for us to go home."
Logan dragged Riley out of the place. They came out through the same door they used to enter. Riley looked resigned when Logan pulled her roughly. She didn't even care about her sprained and sore ankle. She cried silently, lamenting her stupidity for trusting Logan for all the goodness that was only visible on the surface.
“Wipe those stupid tears. Smile at everyone who sees you."
"Screw you," Riley muttered hoarsely.
She didn't care about her disheveled appearance. All her makeup must have been smudged from all the tears she had shed tonight. Her hair was a mess and her scalp hurt from Logan's rough pulling on it. Logan was so cruel to ask her to keep smiling and look okay, when in reality she wasn't.
"There will be mouth discipline if you speak harshly to me."
"I don't care. You're disgusting, you know. You're a monster," Riley spat out the words like she was vomiting the most disgusting thing she'd ever eaten. All that was inside her was anger, sadness, and more disappointment.
“Hey, use your eyes. You bitch!”
Riley's shoulder hit a man in a suit who was drinking near the dance floor with his girlfriend. His drink spilled on his expensive suit. The man was about to yell at Riley for her carelessness, but Logan gave him a sharp look. The man gulped nervously and moved out of their way.
“See, you shouldn't berate me because I saved you from anything.”
"You only did it because you needed me to carry your baby."
"Don't talk like you don't get benefit from this business."
Logan roughly pulled Riley down the stairs. She limped along with Logan's wide strides. Some of them groaned in annoyance at Riley for bumping into their shoulders. Riley couldn't help but keep moving as Logan pulled her harder.
"I'm not getting the full benefit of this. You're taking away my freedom as a free woman."
"You don't have a choice, Riley. Just enjoy your new life with gratitude. It's not my fault I'm treating you this way. You disobeyed me and left your table. Didn't I tell you to stay there?"
"You're going home, sir?"
Nick greeted Logan near the entrance. He brought Logan and Riley's coats that hung neatly from the coat tree.
"We're done for tonight. Keep the club under control, Nick."
"Sure, sir. Don't worry."
Logan glanced at Riley, who seemed to be having difficulty putting the coat on her shaking body. He cursed how weak and fragile Riley was. Nick must have noticed how messed up Riley was, but he chose to stay silent and not interfere.
"Give me your coat."
Logan snatched the brown coat from Riley's hand. He helped Riley put her hands into the coat, then he buttoned the coat up to her neck to keep Riley warm. He didn't want Riley to get sick because of today's incident.
"Let us go home. You look pale."
Riley scoffed at Logan's words, which sounded sweet, as if he was a lover who cared so much for his lover. Tch, Logan was a complete jerk. A ruthless and cruel asshole. Riley couldn't imagine how her life would be after this. She had to leave as soon as possible from Logan's house. She had to run away.
But, who will help me escape?
"You know, tonight Cooper will receive a pair of Alan's ears and ears from his assassins."
Riley closed her eyes sadly. The thought of Alan falling to the ground with blood flowing from all over his body made her nauseous. The fact that she was the one who pulled the trigger squeezed her chest. She wasn't sure the memory could just be erased from her brain. Those memories would haunt her all night like the scariest ghost.
“Is there no other way to get your revenge other than killing someone? You kill people like you swatted a mosquito to death."
"That's how I work. You see, my business empire was not built with compassion or kindness. It was built with sacrifice and pain.”
Riley turned her face away. She refused to look at Logan's grinning face.
A valet came with Logan's Roll Royce and parked it in front of the lobby.
“Good job, Bobby. Here's your tip."
Logan tossed a fifty dollar bill at his valet. The man exclaimed in joy, and caught the money excitedly. He opened the door for Riley, who looked at the entire scene around her with disgust.
How disgusting he is. He lives his life as if he never killed anyone, Riley said bitterly in her heart.
It was a new life she had to live. A life full of drama and blood.
