Chapter 232 A VOE BEYOND THIS WORLD.
Chapter 232 A VOE BEYOND THIS WORLD.
AXEL’S POV:
Orion had never looked more beautiful.
The beach shimmered beneath the golden spill of twilight, soft waves caressing the shore like a lullaby. A stretch of ivory sand had been transformed into something sacred—our altar of renewal.
Tall, curved archways framed the ocean view. Silk chiffon in pale champagne rippled in the breeze like whispers from the gods, woven with orchids, sunroses, and baby’s breath. Glass lanterns floated midair, enchanted by Kaius himself, each shining with soft golden flames.
And above us? A sky bruised in lavender and soft peach, the clouds scattered like spilled petals.
Pulling this off wasn't easy but it was worth it. I'd asked for Wilder’s blessings a while ago, spoken to Kaius, and have Ryan and Thaddeus set this whole thing up.
I stood at the end of the aisle, barefoot in the sand, in a suit the color of the first snowfall—fitted to perfection. No tie. No chains. Just me, heart bared, waiting for the woman who had ripped down my walls and made a home in their ruins.
The chairs were filled with faces that had bled beside us. Ryan, clean-cut in a dark jade suit, eyes happy. Ashley, radiant in peach. Katie, teary but glowing, clinging to Sea who kept turning to the aisle, whispering, “Is it time yet?” over and over.
Thaddeus, Serena, and some individuals from Orion sat near the front, dressed in soft woven ceremonial Orion garments—off-white and deep blue, embroidered with old Orion symbols of protection and peace.
Standing beneath the arch, palms clasped and face steady, was Kaius, the spiritual voice of a land that once drowned in shadows. Now, it was light.
Then the music began.
Low, haunting violin. A wind flute in the background.
And there she was.
Avery.
Walking barefoot across the sand, her gown flowing behind her like a river of stars. The fabric was sheer white with delicate golden embroidery curling like vines up the bodice, down her arms, and around her growing belly—our child. Our future. A subtle veil framed her face, sheer enough to see the tears trembling in her eyes.
Her hair was braided loosely down her back, threaded with tiny white orchids. She didn’t wear much jewelry—just the sunstone ring and a tiny crystal on her forehead that shimmered in the dying sunlight.
On her arm was Wilder, who looked every bit the proud father figure. His lips were pressed tight, eyes red but glowing with joy as he whispered something to her that made her laugh softly.
I couldn't breathe, staring at my Queen.
Each step she took felt like time was bending.
A girl who once cried alone in a cold cell.
A woman who fought gods.
A mother.
My wife.
My breath.
My final redemption.
She reached me, eyes locked to mine, and I could barely hold it in.
Wilder placed her hand in mine and stepped back. He gave one last look "Don’t screw this up" was written all over his face—but also: "You’ve made her whole."
Kaius raised his hands and the air shifted. Time felt sacred here.
“We gather under the open sky, the realm of Orion, and the spirits who have watched this journey unfold,” he said, his voice deep and resonant. “We stand between two tides, the one that brought pain, and the one that now brings peace.”
A hush fell over the crowd. Only the wind and sea remained.
Kaius looked at us. “Do you have your vows?”
I nodded. So did Avery. I swallowed, stepped forward, and held her hands.
Her skin was warm. Real. Home.
“I’ve killed men. I’ve broken empires. I’ve led armies and taken bullets. But none of it ever scared me like the thought of losing you. You... Avery is the war I never wanted but the peace I didn’t know I needed. You walked into my life in chains, and instead of running, you stayed and melted every one of mine. Although you tried to escape a couple of times," I joked.
The crowd laughed.
"You loved me when I didn’t deserve it. You believed in me when I was already digging my grave. You fought with me. For me. Beside me. And now I vow: To be your shield when the world is cruel. Your voice when yours trembles. Your peace when the chaos returns. And you're forever—even when the stars burn out.” Tears blurred my vision. “I love you. In this life and the next. And the one after that.”
She was already crying before she even started.
“I’ve been caged, broken, manipulated. I’ve been forced to bleed for those who should’ve protected me. But through every darkness, you were the light that burned fiercest—even when you didn’t know it. Axel... you weren’t my salvation. You were my reminder that I didn’t need saving. That I could burn with my own fire and still be soft. Still be yours. You held my hand when I was lost. You let me fight my demons and then held me when I collapsed from it. You didn’t fix me—you showed me that I was never broken. And now, in front of the gods, our child, our Sea, and every soul we’ve ever loved... I promise to be yours. Fully. Loudly. Always. No past, no ghosts, no more war. Just you and me. And peace.”
I kissed her before Kaius could even finish.
The crowd burst into a mix of cheers and sniffles. Sea clapped wildly, yelling, “That’s my mommy and daddy!” and Ryan wiped his eyes like he wasn’t crying but totally was.
Kaius blessed the union with sacred salt water and placed Orion’s flower crown on both our heads. The ocean roared behind us, sealing the promise.
And as we walked back down the aisle—hand in hand, husband and wife, again, reborn—moonlight poured over us.
The past buried in the sand.
The future born with every step.
And peace… at last. It was worth it.
