Chapter 243
Chapter 243
Isabella had completely lost it.
Lately, every time she ran into Stella and Evelyn, she'd end up with terrible luck.
She had returned from abroad as a social elite who could make things happen, with William backing her up. She didn't need to worry about anyone's opinion and could live a great life.
So why was everyone going against her?
Evelyn was a lunatic who didn't deserve William at all.
The two were already divorced. Why were they still so close?
In the darkness, Isabella's face twisted with rage, looking absolutely terrible, "I'll make them pay. And Stella. Now that she's been accepted back into a wealthy family, does her greedy family know about it?"
Stella's background wasn't hard to dig up. One search would reveal her entire past.
Thinking of Stella's greedy family, she burst out laughing.
"Cut the crap. I'm going to turn their lives upside down."
In her sleep, Stella suddenly sneezed, though she didn't think much of it and rolled over to continue sleeping.
Matthew, watching from beside her, frowned slightly. He quietly lifted the covers and slipped in, wrapping his arms around her from behind.
Dawn broke.
Not having to work, Stella slept until noon. But the moment she opened her eyes, she heard a megaphone blaring downstairs.
This was an upscale neighborhood where even loud talking was rare. Why would someone be using a megaphone?
Wait, that voice sounded familiar.
Stella threw off the covers and walked to the window. The instant she opened it, the familiar voice came through clearly.
"Stella, you little bitch, get out here right now! You caused my son's daughter-in-law's death, and now you've married into wealth, living in an upscale neighborhood, and you don't want to deal with me anymore. Get out here now!"
Stella carefully poked her head out and looked down.
Sure enough, the person shouting through the megaphone was none other than Haven, with some of her younger relatives beside her.
Stella's face darkened.
Since starting work, she had been sending Haven money regularly every year. Although Haven had no blood relation to her, she was willing to support her for Preston and Gemma's sake. But that didn't mean she'd be a pushover and let Haven walk all over her.
Haven's sudden appearance now probably wasn't simple.
Could it be Blaine?
When they were together, that jerk knew everything about her family situation. Although he'd never been there, he knew the general location.
No, wait.
That jerk didn't have the guts.
Even if he wanted to bring Haven and the others to get revenge on her, he definitely didn't have the nerve.
Her mind was a bit scattered. Stella threw on some clothes and headed downstairs.
By now, a large crowd had gathered at the entrance of the upscale neighborhood.
This was an upscale community where the residents were all either rich or powerful. They were usually bored out of their minds, so when there was finally some drama to watch, of course they had to come see.
When they heard Haven shouting Stella's name, everyone was stunned.
They all moved in the same circles. Although Stella and Matthew hadn't officially held their wedding yet, the fact that they'd gotten their marriage certificate was no secret in their circle.
Now, this Haven was actually Stella's grandmother, and she'd already married into wealth—how could she not help her family?
While everyone was watching the drama unfold, Mia and Aiden rushed over.
They had been at the beauty salon when they got the warning from the neighborhood security and hurried back.
In the center of the crowd.
Haven was surrounded by her children, continuously shouting through the megaphone.
Mia's face darkened as she pushed through with her bodyguards, "What are you doing? Talking nonsense! Stella is pregnant. If something happens to the baby, can you take responsibility?"
This Haven was completely unreasonable. Stella hadn't shortchanged her over the years, sending money regularly. That living allowance was enough for Haven to live well.
Yet she was still greedy and had come to bully people.
At Mia's command, the bodyguards immediately surrounded the whole family.
Haven had already prepared herself mentally and wasn't afraid.
But the people around Haven were somewhat scared.
Someone couldn't help but advise, "Mom, you should get up. We came here to achieve our goal. Making a scene won't do us any good."
"Yeah, Mom, you should get up. Now that Stella's living the good life, she'll have endless wealth and glory in the future. We should quit while we're ahead."
Ever since learning that Stella had married into wealth, everyone had changed their attitude.
Before, in their eyes, Stella wasn't worth mentioning. Their only goal was to squeeze some money out of her.
But now it was different.
Stella had married into a wealthy family, which meant they could all benefit. Not to mention anything else, they'd never have to worry about jobs again.
So compared to Haven's short-sightedness in just wanting a large sum of money, everyone else had more flexible thinking.
Now that they had such a big backer, of course they needed to butter her up. Who would have thought that Haven had promised one thing when they came, but changed her tune once they got here and started cursing?
Everyone's faces darkened, though some actively tried to smooth things over.
Seeing how well-dressed Mia and Aiden were, they quickly approached.
"Hello, you must be Stella's in-laws. I'm her uncle. We came to attend the wedding. Aren't they getting married soon? We came to see, after all, when a girl gets married, her family should come see."
"Please don't misunderstand. We don't mean anything by it, we just came to visit."
Mia and Aiden had weathered many storms and seen all kinds of people. One look told them these people were full of schemes.
However, they didn't take such schemes seriously. If these were people who could be dealt with using money, that would be best. But looking at Haven still cursing away, they knew she wouldn't be easy to handle.
Mia coughed lightly, "If you're not here to cause trouble, then what is she doing? Can't you people even control your elder?"
Dealing with such troublemakers personally would be beneath them, so she could only use these people.
Sure enough, the moment Mia said this, the faces of Haven's family members changed instantly. Someone came forward to pull Haven up from the ground, while Haven's daughter directly covered Haven's mouth.
