Chapter 14 — Another One

Alexis's POV:

We walked as a group to the bar section. The tall, slender bartender gave us all a warm smile. "It must be my lucky day. I have famous people in front of me. The hottest bachelors of the country and the famous model." He commented, showing his oddly brown teeth.

I feel so out of place here.

"What would you like, ladies?" Kyle asked. He has been weirdly quiet tonight. He didn't even talk to me. Maybe the last incident made him feel bad.

"Shots!" I smiled. I needed to stop my brain from thinking tonight and to be free.

"You heard her, shots for everyone," Kyle informed the bartender. He arranged the little glasses in a straight line and filled them with tequila.

We all grabbed our glass. "Cheers!" We all exclaimed, clinking our glass together before gulping it down and stroking the empty glass on the ceramic counter.

"Another round!" Penelope yelled with pure excitement.

The bartender did as he was told and filled up the glasses one more time, "Cheers!" We all screamed again, clinking our glasses and gulping the content down in one go.

My tongue was burning, but my body screamed for more. I gave Penelope a look, and she smiled.

"You guys up for another round?" Penelope smirked at the guys.

"I don't think they are. Look at how they look." I commented with a smirk of my own.

"They are trying to challenge us. We've been doing this since high school." Brian snorted.

"You girls are gonna lose." Kyle rolled his eyes playfully.

"Yeah, you guys carry on; I'm going to the dancefloor. Hopefully, I won't go back alone tonight." Ashton said and gracefully walked out on us.

"One down, two to go!" I smirked.

"Let's do this. Since we're equal now, why don't Penelope go with Kyle, and I'll have this competition with you." Brian looked at each one of us before continuing.

"Penelope and Kyle. Brian and Mackenzie," he called out.

I wanted Kyle.

"Sure," I replied immediately to cover my disappointment.

"Okay then." Kyle smiled, and Penelope nodded.

"Fill us up, bartender!" Brian screamed, and the bartender filled up the glasses, and we all gulped it down in one go.

We did more shots, and I think my head started feeling funny. My vision got blurry. I shook my head, trying to get my vision clear but to no avail. I raised my glass in defeat, and Penelope raised hers as well. I sat down, trying to collect all my thoughts, but it felt like my eyes were turning inside out.

We sat in silence for a while, but I heard some rather familiar lyrics. My eyes widened in amusement when I recognized the song as The weekend's I Feel It Coming. I abruptly got up from my seat, but I regretted it when it felt like the room was spinning.

"Let's go to the dancefloor, kids!" I said, slurring a bit. Penelope looked drunk already, Brian looked like he was at his breaking point, and Kyle looked like he passed his alcohol limit and was very drunk. But, me, though, I am fine. I don't feel anything.

"Y-yes...dancing!" Penelope stammered. As she got up from her seat, she stumbled, but Brian held her from falling.

"You're in no shape to dance," Brian discouraged, but she pulled her body from his.

"I am, and I will," she stated and pouted her lips.

"Kyle, let's accompany these ladies, so no one thinks about harassing them," Brian said to Kyle, who just nodded and got up from his seat.

Penelope tried to walk properly, but she staggered, and Brian held her again. Kyle just looked unbothered and kept his eyes on the floor.

What happened to him?

"You go with Macy. I'll take care of Penelope." Brian instructed, and for a second, his eyes met mine, I think, or maybe the alcohol is just making me see things.

Kyle hovered around me. He wasn't smiling as he usually does. It's like he's here, but he's not here.

I can't even understand my own thoughts.

I tried to push away my thoughts and dance, but Kyle's face was a big turn-off. He wouldn't move. I glanced over at Penelope and Brian. They were dancing with all smiles, Penelope couldn't dance properly, and Brian left his hand on her waist.

Something's definitely up between the two of them.

I felt a hand grab my ass, and I immediately turn around and hit the hand away. I see a drunk man trying to grab me, and I screamed. Nobody heard, or maybe they did, but they thought I was feeling the music.

Where is Kyle? He's supposed to protect me, isn't he?

I tried to call, but someone grabbed the drunk man by the collar and punched him hard, and he fell to the floor. The man didn't move from the floor, and everyone turned to look. Kyle grabbed my hand and led me out of the club. Penelope and Brian followed behind him.

The chauffeur immediately spotted us and waved his hand in the air. We all walked to the limo and sat down.

"What happened back there? Why weren't you with Macy?" Brian questioned Kyle, but he just let out a sigh.

"I was talking to Ashton. He was telling me that he's leaving with a girl. I didn't know someone would try to hurt her." Kyle defended himself in between burps.

We reached the hotel, and Penelope got down. Brian assisted her and got down also.

"Macy, aren't you staying for the night?" Penelope asked, stammering.

"I want to go home," I said, slurring, my brain still in shock over what took place only a few minutes ago. "Sta—"

"I want to go home."

"It's okay. I'll make sure she gets home safe." Kyle said in a delicate tone.

"Okay, dude. Are you going home afterward?"

Kyle nodded, and the chauffeur started driving. It was quiet and awkward. Kyle looked as distant as ever. Whoever said alcohol makes you forget was wrong.

After driving a while, I felt the car come to a halt. I observed the surrounding area, and it looked oddly familiar.

"Aren't you getting down?" Kyle asked, and I gave my brain one more push, and I remembered that this is my house. We were at my house. Wait, how the fuck does he know where is. It seemed everyone knew where I lived. The last thing I needed was for Jasmine to show up at my doorstep.

I got down and stretched, I held the car for support but then Kyle cane to help, and while he held me, he staggered, and he also held the car for support. He looked up at me, his blonde hair standing due to the wind, and we both laughed.

The first he laughed this night.

Went held each other to the door, posing as each other's support. I brought out a set of keys but didn't know which was for the front door. I tried out the first key, and when it didn't work, I looked over to Kyle, and we both laughed. I tried the second key, and it worked, I looked over again at Kyle, and we both laughed.

I opened the door, and we both staggered in. I closed the door and locked it.

"Sleep in the living room or bedroom?" Kyle asked, and I pointed lazily to the stairs.

We both held each other while holding something solid to keep us standing. We got to the stairs, and the more we tried to climb them, we couldn't.

"One foot up, another up," Kyle suggested, I didn't quite understand what that meant, but we did what he suggested and moved slowly and carefully, still holding each other but also holding the railing of the stairs.

We finally reached the bedroom door, and Kyle kicked it open. We both laughed and walked inside confidently but fell on my bed instead. I landed on top of him, and we both laughed, looking at each other.

"Alexis." He commented, his eyes partly closed.

"I've always been here," I answered before crashing my lips into his. His mouth kissed mine violently. He tasted solely like alcohol.
