29. Resistance

29. Resistance
Jade’s POV

“What an asshole, I could go a whole lifetime without having another interaction with him again.”, I say annoyed.

Liam lets out a chuckle, “As much as I didnt like the guy, I kind of feel bad for him to be completely honest.”

I make a confused face at him, “Feel bad for him, and why is that? He was being a complete knuckle head.”

Liam responds, “I mean he was just able to reconnect with his little sister; he lived knowing about you but not being able to have any relationship with you. It must have been hell for him, especially with his higher rank. You know the higher our rank the more connected we are with our instincts.”

I roll my eyes, “That still doesn't mean he can talk to me the way he did. If he wants me to at the very least respect him, he's going to have change that attitude.

We are approaching our home, and I know Liam can tell I need some space to process whatever that was back there.

“Jade, I will give you some time to sit with all of what has happened today, I know these past few days have been a bit of a shit show, but one thing I know about you is that you will find a way to get through this and you know you have so many people back in your corner, and you can count on me on anything.”

I give him a big hug and tell him, “It’s just hard, a lot has been going on and now this happens. I feel like I can't catch a break and at the same time a lot of things in my head are starting to make sense. I just need some time to stew with everything going on in my mind.”

“I’ll let you stew then, love you baby sis. You know where I am if you need me or if you just need to talk.”

I give him a quick smile, “love you too.” I start making my way to my room. I sit on my bed with all these thoughts going through my head.

Thinking about what comes next. Would they want me to move to the Royal Pack? I mean I was already going to be moving over there with the royal guard, I know for certain Emilio had to keep them updated about my plans.

So what possibly could have happened that made them feel they had to come immediately for me rather than waiting for me to arrive at the royal pack myself. Those thoughts are starting to concern me more than anything, is it something that has to do with the reason they had to give me up?

They’re obviously keeping something from the others; they just show up to a pack knowing that no pack under their rule will deny them access. An uneasy feeling comes over me, like something in my bones is telling me something is wrong.
I know I need to speak to my biological family and hear whatever they have to say, but I need time. I sometimes feel resistant to change things or go with the flow, especially if it's forced on me. Not sure if it's because I felt backed into a corner or just plain stubborness.

At the same time, I feel so alone. I know the family that took me in loves me with everything they have, but I was still lied to. I don’t feel I can talk to my siblings without offending them in some way if a vent how i feel to them.

At the end of the day our parents are biologically theirs and I don't want them to be placed in the middle of the situation; it would not be fair to them or our parents.

Maybe leaving like how i planned without a fuss would be for the best. I don't want to cause any problems between my family or cause any more tension than there has been. I could deal with the issues with my biological family later.

I need to get out, I feel like I'm going stir crazy the more I just sit here and think. Deciding to go out on a run and let out my wolf for a bit sounds like the plan for now.

Maybe, I just need to let out all these pent-up emotions with a run. Goddess knows what would happen if I decided to spar with the way I feel right now.

I make my way out without running into anyone else and head straight to the forest. Leaving my clothes in a pile behind a tree, I shift into my wolf.

Loosing count of the minutes or hours I have been running; I decide to make my way back to my clothes. When I get closer, I can smell someone else nearby. I know who it is, but nothing good can come out of an interaction between us.

Prince Nicolas is leaning against the tree where I kept my clothes. He stares at me and I can see he feels some type of affection towards me or at least my wolf. His voice cuts through the silence, “You have a beautiful wolf.”

He starts approaching me and reaches out to touch my wolf. Esme is beaming at the compliment and is more than happy to let him pet her. Our wolves value familial blood connections; it's just a step below the mate bond and is important to us.

I can feel our sibling connection and it's so much different than the connection I share with Liam or Ava. Maybe I was too angry before to notice it but I never thought this type of blood connection would feel completely different to what my normal was. Too bad he is such an ass.

Deciding to see what he wants, I go behind the tree and change to be able to speak to him. I come back out as soon as I finish.

Without knowing how to break the ice, I let my bratty side of me win and say, “So are you done being an ass?”

Author’s note

Hello everyone, sorry for being MIA for sooo long. Alot has happened the last few years that didn't allow me to focus and put in the work I would have liked to the story. I am a mother first and foremost, and my main priority is my family. I will start editing some chapters I have written out and publish them as I go. As of now I haven’t set up a publishing schedule but is something I’m working towards. I will be publishing as much as I can until I finish this story. I appreciate your understanding and am grateful for those who are still here.

Thank you soo much lovelies, hope you enjoy! :-)
