Chapter 36 Chapter 36

Chapter 36 Chapter 36
Marcus POV
We did not even have to announce that we are married now. Instead, it was like everyone knew who we were. Even Jack knew, and he was not too happy about it. I did not care that he was not happy about it. I needed him to know that Charlotte belonged to me. After Eleanor confirmed her suspicions, she ushered us out of the kitchen. I already knew what she was going to do. She was going to prepare a wedding-day feast for us. With pirates, it starts in the morning and ends at sunset with dancing and the pirate couple getting tattooed. Charlotte would have my name tattooed on her, and I would have her name tattooed on me. It was kind of a marking ritual. I found Mac, our tattooist. He was excellent at what he did.
I knew that he would design a beautiful tattoo for Charlotte. It would have my name in it. Now I need to convince Charlotte to let it happen. I don't know if she could handle the pain. While she was getting tattooed, I would be getting a tattoo of her name. Every culture has its own ritual. This was our tradition. I found out that the English exchanged rings and had a party of sorts. She was in for a treat with our celebration. We walked upstairs and then went to our room. We talked about the trip and what was expected. I really did not want her to go. Not because of the superstition of women being on a ship. I didn't want her to go because of the fact it could be dangerous and what if her mother was already dead? That would break her.
I knew that witches when they lost a loved one and didn't know how to control their powers that they could start fires and burn things to the ground. What was I going to do? I needed her to understand the situation. We talked, and she seemed to understand what I was trying to tell her. But she said she's going whether I liked it or not. I had no choice but to let her go. She then left the room. Maybe she needed some air. While she was gone, I found all the candles in the room and lit them. I already had things of hot water boiling for a bath. I had Eleanor do that earlier today because I knew that she would need a bath. After a long day, she would need to relax. Tomorrow was not going to be any different.
I had Chelsea pick up a couple of dresses from our seamstress earlier today. I had ordered them when we first got here. She needed some clothes of her own. She was borrowing Chelsea's clothes. Chelsea also gave her some clothes as well. She returned a few minutes later carrying a pitcher of water and a jug of wine.
" Eleanor gave these to me."
" She would not let me go into the kitchen."
She's preparing a feast for us tomorrow. She doesn't want you to see the wedding cake that she is making for us."
She looked at me with a look like, really.
" Charlotte, are you really OK with us being married so soon?"
" Marcus, if I wasn't, I would not have agreed to it."
That was true if she really did not want to; my mother would not have gone through the ceremony. However, I don't think he knows what happens next.
" Charlotte, tomorrow you will be getting a tattoo with my name on it."
"It's to let other men know that you are taken."
" Marcus, I know it's going to hurt."
" I'm ready for whatever being married to you entails."
She had no idea what her life would be like now. However, I have time to prepare her for it. While we prepare to go on this journey, I will help her with her powers. I already knew that Eleanor was drying fish and meat for our journey. She was always on top of things. This time she was coming with us. I would need her help with any injuries that we got off the island. I knew that there were good witches who were imprisoned on the island. Glenda, one of the good witches who helped crops grow, was taken into custody. She would also heal the sick.
Someone must have found out she was a witch. That was the only way that she would have been taken into custody. I felt bad for her. If she were on the island, then we could rescue her as well. I might even be able to rescue Rubin's sister, who was not a witch, but she was associated with one. People and their paranoia. They think if you speak to a witch, you are one or know how to cast spells. I hated that. I helped Charlotte undress, then undressed myself, and then we got into the bathtub. She rested her head against my chest. I knew that she was sore from last night, but I wanted to make love to her.
" How are you feeling, baby?"
" I'm sore and tired."
" I figured as much."
I would let her have tonight, then tomorrow, if she is up to it, we will make love again. I gently cupped my hands and poured water over her body. She lay against my chest while I did what I needed to do. I just wanted her to relax. She was asleep in no time. I hated to wake her, but the water was getting cold, and we needed to get out. I got out first. She was resting her head against the side of the tub, waiting for me. I grabbed the cloth I had used to dry myself, helped her stand up, and dried her off. I then wrapped a dry one around her. I carried her to bed. There was no reason to put clothes on. We are married now, and it is going to be hot tonight. The nights are getting colder, but they are still pretty warm. We lay down and started to drift off to sleep.
I woke up some time later and noticed that Charlotte was not in bed next to me. I noticed the door was open and there was a trail of blood.
