Chapter 26

I was stunned and unable to move. I gasped for breath and totally whined.

He hadn't told me anything regarding that. Lyraea irked an eye at me as though she noticed something unusual.

I tried to hide my fear but then, she suddenly narrowed her eyes at me and goosebumps held me.

"What?" I asked, trying to heal myself up and hide from her taunting gaze.

"Do you love him?"

"What, no" I quickly refute puffing out my cheeks and feeling nervous. A surge of energy pumps inside me.

"Yes you do and everyone knows about it, your little affair"

Lyraea was blunt and that was just something I disliked about her. Even if I try to debunk her words, she always finds a way to make it seem realistic and with facts.

"No, that's a lie"

She shrugged her shoulders as that wasn't really her issue. She was hired to train me by V’rek and she was more like the eyes and ears of the palace.

Furthermore, she knew of the attack the humans were plotting against the V’rek.

She wasn't against it because she has a beef with Arakan, blaming him for the loss of her father.

"Just a reminder, you'd be screwed if your assassin crew figures it out"

I gulp hard, feeling the pains of the aftermath. She was right but then, why wasn't my heart accepting her words?

"Forget about him lena, you two...nah" she spitefully said with a disgust expression worn on her face.

For a moment, I saw everything spur before my eyes. The grief in it was bemusing and it left me broke.

She wasn't the first who told me about my affair, it's just that I can't help it.

The feeling I try so hard to admit keeps coming.

"The plot is in three days, remember?" She added and I seethe her, really seeing no need for her to remind me of what's coming.

My worries are on my uncle and cousin Sara who lurked their way in the place. I couldn't believe I would be seeing my nightmare again.

I shunned her words and stood up, feeling tired and slothful. She wouldn't give up with her constant reminder.

"Thanks for the information" I replied sarcastically while scrowling her.

She shrugged her shoulders while musing her lips. An engine made a rattling sound behind me.

She flares up a fireball from her hand and blows it at one of the engines.

"So what now Lena? You've got to fulfill the promise"

I rolled my eyes. She doesn't have to keep reminding me like I don't know what exactly revolves in my life.

I gave her no response as I just desired to be out of her sight. At this rate, I could just

"I know and it will happen!" I snapped pacing

"You threaten and bluster, but won't carry it through" she bluntly posed, smirked at me and gestured to me that the door was opened.

She had used her abilities to flip the door open. It seems she doesn't want me in her company.

"What? You can't just assume, I'm working on it..."

"Yeah, yeah! Yeah! Says the girl who's madly in love" she teases with a straight face like she had a lingering beef with me.

"Stop that lydrea" I snarl and she folded her lips, attempting not to piss me further.

I was scared, I only shut her because she was speaking the truth. Perhaps, I might just break that promise to murdering him.

Possibly, someone could just take my place not me but then he would trust me and I was the perfect one for the job.

She noticed I was really annoyed as lightning had gone out from my palm.

Lydrea didn't flinch out, rather, she drew closer to me, placed my palms on her shoulders and made me drop my hand.

"Lena, don't get upset, it's just a feeling and I know you would overcome it when he's gone" her lips mutter.

"You know not a word escape me in this palace" she whispers and my heart skipped. It was definitely about arakan.

She leaned her lips to my ears, her breath poured on my cheek and it tickled me.

"I know you wouldn't believe it but I got the facts about what I heard," she added and drew her face to look me in the eyes.

I was feeling all timorous, weak, and stunned. She hadn't spoken of what she heard but I know that it might break my heart.

Everything faded away and I found myself at the garden, somewhere lone to be and wait for arakan's return.

I was devastated, tired and counting every seconds that passes by.

Then I felt his presence, like a cool breeze which blew across the mountain.

His arms went around my waist, his lips imprinted on the back of my neck, I felt his wet tongue. I let out a soft sigh feeling so warm.

My back was pinned on his chest. Goosebumps held me as I was trembling in his hold.

"I missed you" he whispered to me while striding his arms up, around my breast.

"I was expecting to see you, welcoming me as always" he furthered with a calm tone that was bewitching.

I swivel around to face him, his eyes darken at me. He was in his human form as always, whenever he wanted to meet me.

"I was waiting for you to show up, to find me" I replied, faking a smile and he closed the space between us.

He cupped my cheeks and then captured it, giving me a ravishing and breathtaking kiss.

Actually, he took my breath away and I found my body yanking on him.

He broke out of it and said beneath his breath.

"Now, I'm here, just as you wish"

I wished to believe it but then the conversation I had earlier with Lydrea threw me in a state of confusion.

It made me remember my first request to him, to make sure my kids do not just have their fate as slaves but also earn positions and get a chance to have some rights.

He was working towards that, I could see it and that was part of the reason I began to see him from a different perspective but then, I didn't know if to believe him or not.
