Chapter 24

My hand shook where I stood as the tray almost dropped off. Tears brew up in my eyes as painful memories form in my head. I felt my breath was gone and I was standing on a shaky ground, about to fall off.

"Wouldn't welcome me, dear daughter?" His husky voice requested as he let out a devious smile. I was gasping for air and nothing seems to be in existence anymore.

I fluttered my eyes, after discovering that I was staring at my uncle Thomas and his daughter, Sarah, his beloved, I must say. What a coincidence, when I totally forgot about them.

They were sitting opposite each other with a stool in their middle. Her room was spacious enough to fit a sitting room and so I was so distant from them.

Too stun to move closer. I was trying so hard not to drop the tray in my hand. What a reunion!

How did they get here? They shouldn't be here! I saw Teressa's dark gaze at me. It was as though she read my expression of bitterness, agony and depression.

"What are you doing here?" I asked weakly, beneath my breath. That was the first question I thought to ask them but it was quite sudden and unexpected.

Thomas hums as my question must be bemusing for him. Does he think I'd run to him with open arms, exchange sweet gestures and show some joyous moves that I get to see them again after a long while?

He fucking sold me in place of his daughter, I wouldn't forget that in a hurry and he shouldn't get all enlivened because I'd speak to arakan about his presence.

"They're my guest and would be staying here" teressa answered and beckons on me to hand over the coffee. That was a shock. Does Arakan know of this? That this woman had invited two unwanted guests into this place?

Why was Teressa acting like she owns this place? I suddenly had my doubts, her staying here was for something else but I couldn't lay my assumption on what exactly.

I gulp hard drawing closer to them. Sara hasn't said a word. She was going around the place gesturing and complimenting the beauty of this place and how fortunate I was working in this place.

"Wow, Lena, you live in such a heavenly place!" She exclaimed running towards me and taking the coffee from my reach.

I frown, not liking their presence as it might stir up something bereft. She took a mug and hastened her feet beside me. Ironically, I've got to serve the two first in my life.

"Oh my child, how I have missed you" he said, rising from his seat and drawing closer to me. Tears brewed in my eyes the more I swallowed hard, not trying to reveal the fear in me.

I stepped back as he drew closer, trying to avoid his gaze. He grimaced at me, as he must have known I didn't want to see him anywhere closer to me.

Teressa scoffs as she takes the second mug and sips a bit from it. She compliments that it was nice compared to the one their kind serves but that wasn't my concern.

The cup which Sara held shattered to the ground and the broken pieces fell on my leg. I cringe, shifting my gaze to her. My uncle walked to where she stood to ask if she was hurt when I was the one flinching due to the burnt.

"Oops sorry it slipped" she said as a form of apology I guess. I heaved a sigh as a vacuum cleaner drove over to the spot, about to gulp it in but then Teressa shuts it down.

"We have a maid in here, she should do her job" teressa says letting out a sided smile as I flickered my lashes. I glanced at Sara who has moved from my side over to where Teressa sat, along with my uncle. They sat like three demons, wanting to desperately pass their judgment on me.

She dropped the second mug, intentionally and gasped again like it was a mistake. I rolled my eyes with an expression of disdain as their first day was provoking.

"Then what's the need for a vacuum cleaner?" I questioned trying to control my anger from rising. I was hurt for seeing these two and instead of them treating me nicely, they still treat me like I never mattered.

I just have to remind them that I wasn't the Lena they knew and time changes.

Should I remind you that I am the king's guest and soon to be fiancee?' she proudly declares like though it was an achievement. I believe she was just making up the words, to make me feel jealous because arakan belongs to me, no one else.

"May I remind you that I am the head of maids and I choose who cleans up?" I retorted and Thomas scoffed at me. I wouldn't act all vulnerable to them because someone has my back and they can't measure up to him.

"How disrespectful you've become!" He snarls fuming and I glared back. I would see to it that these two were gone. We just can't live in the same place.

I was speechless as Sara made a wistful face at me. She flung her hair to the back as I folded lips, pale and sweaty.

"I'd advise you to leave before the king comes" I proudly ordered with a straight face at them.

Teressa smirks at me and finally rises up from where she sat. Her fingers grew into long claws as I felt she intended to transit into an alien but preferred being in this manner.

Only her fingers and eyes switch.

She curls her claws to form an electromagnetic energy, glistening and pulling and shutting down electronics.

Each step she took forward was terrifying but I had a stern look at her. I was ready to defend myself.

"I hate it when you think you own it all because of the king, you're nothing human but his scumbag, something to easily dispose!" She barks. I feel weak by her words and almost defended myself when she made a gun blade swivel over at me.
