Chapter 66

Jason..

We got down and entered into the five star restaurant where I had booked for the night.

"Good evening." I said to the lady at the reception who wore a professional smile, thankfully.

"Evening, I have a reservation under the name Jason." I said.

"Yes sir, he'll show you the way." She said after checking the computer and gestured to one of the waiters to take us to our reserved room.

We were taken upstairs to the very last floor, the rooftop.

It was decorated with dim lights and there were candles on the table.

The roof however wasn't an opened roof but it simply had transparent glass over us. Which allowed us to stargaze and have a candle light dinner at the same time.

So clever!

"This is beautiful, jason.." Eve squealed in excitement and I was happy.

"Anything for you." I wanted to say but I know that was cheesy.

"We'll bring your meal to you sir." The waiter said and disappeared to wherever.

That was the least of my concern anyways. I just hope they don't miss the cue. If not I'll sue them for ruining my first date with Eve.

"Jason, I love it." Eve continued gushing about the place.

"I'm glad you like it." I said feeling genuinely happy.

"Your meal sir and ma." The waiter returned with two others who brought in the food.

"Angus sirloin steak." The waiter said once that was placed on the table.

"This is Prime T-bone steak." He said again pointing at the food.

"And finally, Australian lamb chop steak." He said doing the same thing he did to the others.

"What wine would you like to go with it?" He asked.

"What would you suggest?" I asked.

"Charrier Margaux?" He seemed unsure.

"What about Zeña vintage?" I asked.

"Oh, that's a brilliant suggestion sir." He said and scurried off to bring the wine.

He brought the wine and another man along with him.

"This is stéphane, he's a certified sommelier." The waiter pointed at the said man who stood beside him.

"I see you know your vintage sir, Zeña is a premium wine from Chile." The sommelier began

" The smell of blackcurrants and blackberries mixes nicely with the smell of vanilla from the oak barrel and you'll feel the grain tannins with the elegance of a full bodied wine. " The sommelier explained and I nodded acknowledging his grand explanation.

I tipped them nicely and they both scurried off again.

"That was hot!" Eve said, making me blush.

"It sounded like something I've heard before." She mumbled.

"My mom is also a certified sommelier so that's why I know my wine." I said quietly and she nodded.

I took her plate and cut the steak into smaller pieces before giving it back to her.

"Thanks." She mumbled and took a bite moaning at the taste.

"You need to stop doing that." I mumbled under my breath and thankfully she didn't hear.

We ate in silence, only enjoying the food and the vintage wine.

"Thank you for the food." Eve said, cleaning her mouth with the tissue provided.

"You're welcome." I said and dropped my cutlery since I was done as well. The plates were cleared and we simply sat down in silence enjoying the view around us.

Eve was staring outside since we sat close to the glass and we could totally see the lights from the buildings nearby. It was beautiful but the person in front of me had all my attention.

I used my finger tip to trace my eyebrow which was the cue for them to bring the actual highlight of the day.

And on cue, the lights were switched off and the waiter from earlier pushed a trolley with a small tray towards us.

The trolley was covered in dim lights so we weren't in total darkness plus the moonlight reflected through the transparent glass.

The waiter placed the big box on the table and left. I smiled widely like a kid given a lollipop.

The lights were switched back on and Eve who watched the whole thing with wide eyes turned to face me.

"You like everything grand, don't you?" She teased, and I didn't even deny it.

I opened the box revealing a necklace with little blue and red stones on the pendant.

"Is that..." Her voice trailed off and tears dripped down her eyes.

"Are you crying?" I asked in panic and she laughed.

"No, I'm just really happy." She said laughing and crying at the same time.

"Did you know that if you laugh and cry at the same time, you'll get a hairy butt." I said which made her laugh even more.

"Eve.." I called calmly.

" Red symbolises fire and my birthstone is garnet, blue symbolises water and your birthstone is Sapphire."

"I don't think these are coincidences."

" Like fire and water, we complete each other, we're so different yet so alike, and we're stronger together."

" I think both of us are truly meant to be." I said and Eve was crying again.

"When I saw this, I understood why I felt a great connection to you and I even thought it would be better to give you as a ring when I propose to you in the right way but I knew that I just had to do this first." I said and Eve was already a sobbing mess.

"I love you." I said getting up from my seat, taking the necklace and putting it around her neck.

"I love you." She said, touching the necklace that was now on her neck.

"Shall we go home now?" I asked and she chuckled.

"We shall." She said and we left the restaurant.

When we arrived home, everyone was fast asleep.

I was glad anyways because I was ready for mom and grandma Nini to interrogate either of us on how the date went.

We both changed into our night clothes and faced each other as we laid on the bed.

"I'll make it up to you." Eve whispered.

"You don't have to, having you right by my side is good enough." I said as I moved closer to her and pulled her into my embrace.

And I've got to admit that Cinnamon and vanilla is my new favorite aroma.
