Chapter 109

Eve.

We sat in the dinning eating dinner, Ethan and Max seemed to come often since they heard I'm pregnant although I'm still yet to meet my replacement at Ethan's cafe.

Grandma Nini and Mom had already had dinner earlier, I waited for Jason to come back and he came with Max, Ethan and Jade who drove him back from wherever he must have gone earlier today.

I turned to my side where Jason sat down and was looking like something was bothering him.

"You're going to bore holes in his skin if you keep staring at him like that." Max said to me and I glared at him.

"What?, Did I say something wrong?" He asked and continued eating.

"You just don't know when to shut up, do you?" I said, rolling my eyes.

"Eve, you said you liked men who could cook." Max said, drawing Jason's attention.

Jason pouted the moment he heard what Max said.

"Cooking or no cooking, I love you either way." I said to him,

"Oh my." Ethan said chuckling

"Such cheesy lines." Max laughed.

And everyone bursted into laughter.

And we ate our meal happily.

We all sat in the living room talking about things that one would think it's trivial.

"Let's play a game." Max suggested.

" I think it's best if you go home first." Jason said, giving him a look.

"You want to do what lovers do right?, Nope, I'm not going home." Max scoffed.

"There's no time that you ever want to go home Max, you always want to stay here, if I didn't know about Ethan , I would think you're attracted to Jason " I said and we all laughed.

"Well, he's a catch." Max said and I rolled my eyes.

"What game?" Ethan asked, smiling.

"Riddles." Max said.

"Riddles?" Jason asked.

"Yeah, riddles." Max repeated what he said.

"I'll ask the questions, you'll answer." Max said.

"Alright." We all agreed.

"But before we start, I'll divide us into two groups, Jason and Ethan are in one group while Eve and Jade are in the other group." Max said.

"Alright." We all nodded.

"Why did the coffee call the police?' Max asked.

"The coffee?" Jason raised his brows.

"How can a cup of coffee call the police?" I laughed.

"Because it was mugged." Ethan said.

"Correct answer!" Max said, giving Ethan a high five.

"Hey!, That's not fair, he sells coffee." I huffed and Max rolled his eyes in response.

"Next question." Max said, ignoring my tantrum.

"Alright, we're gonna win this Jade." I said.

"Sure, let's go." Jade said.

"What's in the middle of Toronto?" Max asked.

"River?" Jade laughed.

"No, probably ocean." Jason said laughing.

"Final answer ocean?" Max asked Jason who the question was directed to and he nodded.

"Wrong." Max said.

"Your husband isn't smart after all." Max joked and Jason scoffed playfully.

"Bonus to Jadeve group." Max said, giving us a nice nickname.

"The letter O." I said.

"Correct!" Max squealed, giving me a high five.

We continued the game for a while until Ethan suggested we play another game.

"What game is it this time around?" Max asked since he hadn't played any game yet.

"Yeah, what game is it and it better be simple." Jason agreed.

"Roses are red." Ethan said.

"That corny game?" Jade laughed and I smacked him.

"It's corny but I kinda like it." Max said being supportive of his boyfriend.

"We'll play it if you like it." Ethan said immediately.

"Sucking up to your boyfriend, are we?" Jason teased.

"Alright, I'll go first, let's sit in a circular form." Ethan said.

Jason began the circle then jade followed then me then Ethan and lastly max and then back to Jason.

"Jason will start." Ethan said pointing at Jason.

"I'll pass it to you." Jason said to jade who nodded.

"Roses are red, violets are blue but I've never seen a man as foolish as you." Jason said to Jade.

Jade laughed before punching Jason slightly in the stomach.

After work, they act like best friends.

"Roses are red, violets are blue and I've never seen a flower prettier than you." Jade said to me and I blushed.

"Hey, don't flirt with my wife." Jason warned jade and i laughed.

"Roses are red, violets are blue, I know you love Max, well just know he loves you too." I said to Ethan who chuckled.

"Roses are red, violets are blue, I love you and I would like to get married to you." Ethan said to Max.

Max smiled brightly.

I was still in awe while Jade screamed.

"No way!" Jade screamed.

"Was it a real proposal?" Jade screamed again.

"Hush, it's late." Jason warned.

That was when I noticed the little box in Ethan's hands which showed a ring.

"I'll marry you." Max said, collecting the ring. They kissed passionately. I covered my eyes while Jason laughed and Jade cheered them on.

No wonder Jason was acting weird.

I remembered that I overheard Ethan telling Jason something earlier before dinner.

Flashback.

"What did you want to talk about?" Jason asked as he and Ethan stood in the passage way.

Ethan looked left and right before responding.

"I want to propose to him." Ethan said.

"What?" Jason said in shock.

"Proposal?, Isn't it too early for that?" Jason asked.

"It isn't, Jason , in love, nothing is too early. You just do it whenever you feel it's right, that's one thing about timing. You never know when it's right so do it when you feel like it is." Ethan said.

I swear I've never heard him talk so romantically.

"Do you think he'll accept it?" Ethan asked in a small voice.

"Of course he will, he loves you, you know." Jason said.

Flashback ends.

I didn't really read much into it because I didn't think he was actually going to propose now and with a corny game at that.

But Ethan was right about one thing.

Love isn't about the amount of time they have spent together nor is it about the kind of things that they have done together, what matters is that they love each other and are ready to be with each other for life.

Jade returned home because he'll have to pick Jason up tomorrow for work.

Jason and I took a stroll around the house because exercise is good for the baby.

And besides, we had nothing to do and since Max and Ethan would be staying the night, it's best to give them much privacy.

Jason was lost in thoughts about some unknown thing but I was thinking about Ethan and Max.

"Don't you think Ethan was too fast in his proposal?" I asked Jason.

"I mean their relationship is barely a year old," I said.

"No." Jason shook his head.

"Why?" I asked with raised brows.

"It's not about the time they spent together, love isn't about the amount of time but the magnitude of the love they have for each other " Jason explained and I nodded.

I really didn't understand though.

The magnitude of love?

What was that supposed to mean?

"What I am trying to say is, they don't need to be together for a long time to know that they are in love." Jason said, explaining to the best of his ability.

I understood it this time around.

Love had diverse meanings and diverse explanations.

But most of all, Love is simply Love.

We both sat at the bench in the garden and I remembered that one time when Jason came to the garden and I was painting. I remembered it clearly.

It was at that moment I knew that I had fallen in love with him and even before I knew it, like the spring breeze and moist raindrops, my heart slowly got soaked with his love.

At some point, I came to realise that a certain someone was holding a special place in my heart and that someone was no other person than Jason.

Sitting there, also made me realise how madly in love I am with the man seated beside me.
