Chapter 46

When I went back to my seat, I got my mirror and checked my eyes. I tried my best to avoid looking in his direction, it's better this way.

Ah, good thing I went to the washroom first to fix myself before going back inside, it wouldn't be good that I'll look like a mess from the first class.

"You cried again." I stopped changing the angle of my mirror and shot him a glare.

"Shut up and make your mouth busy with your snacks." He chuckled and stuck his tongue out, showing a new candy.

I cringed my face and took out my tablet, re-reading our lesson for today.

To halt the exodus to the West, Soviet leader Nikita Khruschev recommended to East Germany that it close off access between East and West Berlin- uh, I can't finish this.

"Why do you like sweets so much?" I asked out of curiosity, closing my history book which I can't seem to read past page 3.

I waited for his answer. He's holding a packed candy but he's still chewing some in his mouth, his eyes met mine.

"I just do."

"Yeah but don't you think it's too much sweets?" I followed up. He looked at the candy in his hand and smirked, I leaned back when he slid the candy to my side of the desk.

"Just ask if you want one." He looked at me. My eyes widened and slid back the candy to his desk.

"Excuse me, I never asked for it." He gave me a sarcastic face and placed his finger on the candy, just brushing his finger on mine in the process.

"Just take it." He then took the candy from my fingers and snuck it inside my palm and closed them.

"Wake me up later." He shamelessly ordered me and went back to his infamous activity, sleeping.

I look at the snack on my palm, wild berry flavored fluffy candy. Is it just like a gummy?

I took the candy and opened the wrapper, a sudden loud thud caused me to pause and lift my head to search for the source, which I regretted instantly.

My heart started to ache again, Irene's near Sehun's seat she looked down to the books she was carrying which fell to the ground, which caused the loud thud earlier. She was just looking down and I already knew why. Of course her male lead would help her, that is a given.

I breathed in and shift my eyes to the windows, choosing to not witness the scene.

I can't.

"Pick it up."

My eyebrows furrowed and secretly shift it back to them. Sehun's sitting still while Irene's by his side looking a bit taken back.

"Ah yes." She bent down and started collecting the massive collection of books she brought with her. I noticed how everyone was just looking at them, whispers started to became audible.

She looked around the room and bit her lips when she stood up hugging the books and went to her seat, her eyes stopped at me. Her eyes fluttered and turned her face away, heading back to her seat.

"Was she expecting Sehun to pick it up for her?" A girl behind me whispered and chuckled. She was then shushed by her seatmate. My eyes looked at Sehun who's reading a book, the pages are neat and clean it seems like a new book.

Did he finish reading the other one?

When his body shifted I immediately looked down and pretended to look at my closed book, I got the candy out from the wrapper and placed the candy in between my teeth.

My tongue brushed on the surface of the candy, my eyes closed and my face puckered up I spat out the candy.

I heard someone laugh beside me. I smacked his back in response when I saw him looking at me.

He did it on purpose.

"You lazy jerk." My mouth salivating still by the sour candy he gave me, washing out the sour patch on my tongue.

"I didn't do anything, you decided to eat it." He still continued to laugh, I'm sure he was watching my reaction when I licked the candy.

"That was so underhanded." He nodded admitting to his wrongdoing.

"I was trying to check your taste buds."

"And why?" He shrugged his shoulder, lifting his head some sleep marks formed on his face.

"To see if I can cleanse the bitter taste of it." He took out another candy in his bag, this looks different. It's a cute lollipop that has bunny ears.

"This is sweet this time, promise." I'm confused but I still snatched it from his hand. I faced the other direction and just in time, our class started.

Today was quite eventful, I got to speak to Sehun even when that didn't end in a good note. I managed to take him off my head during class, I focused more on answering the workbook than facing in front of me, so my neck hurts from looking down all day. Almost everyone left the room, the leaders went to finalize everything for the event , Sungjae went home early to sleep, the girls went out to buy some bubble teas.

"Minnie, can you wait for me? I'm just gonna head to the nurses office, I'm gonna ask for some pain relief patch." I talked to her touching my neck and tilting my head. Her eyes filled with worry, she looked at my neck as if she's checking for the cause of the pain when it's not possible.

"Do you want me to go with you?" She asked. I shook my head lightly.

"It's okay, you can just keep in check of our things." She turned her head to my bag beside her, she pouted and asked me if I'm sure.

"I'll be okay. I'll be quick." I reassured her and left the room, heading to the clinic.

Ah seriously, a painful neck and a disturbed heart and mind.

Before turning left, out of habit I slowed down and secretly took a peak inside the student organizers room. A lot of people are inside, but the person I'm looking for was not inside, two people in fact.

My heart felt heavy and continued making my way to the clinic. My mind is filled with the possible scenarios, he and Irene must've snuck out to have some time together?

I entered the clinic, the doors were already opened and the nurse wasn't there.

I guess it's time for my stealing skill to shine.

I went near the counter, she has a lot of medicines inside it but no patches, I went inside her counter and sat on her computer desk looking at the lined up medicated patches which she gave me last time.

Which one should I choose.

"Where are you going?" My finger stopped, my mind quickly alerted my body and hunched down, hiding my head from being visible outside.

"The nurse isn't here yet." This voice. My heart thumped, all of a sudden my hearing became selective and I couldn't hear anything apart from her voice.

"So what." The mans voice made my heart leap to my throat. It's getting difficult to breathe all of a sudden.

"Stay with me." She said in her affectionate voice. Jealousy started to pry my chest open, even when I have no right to be jealous over the heroine I couldn't control my feelings.

If I had I would choose to be numb right now.

"How many times do I have to say 'no' for you to understand. I don't want you near me." He sighed.

"Sehunie."

"Don't fucking push my buttons." He said through his gritted teeth. "This is the last time I'm helping you." I got out of the computer chair and squeezed myself inside the space under the counter when he pulled the covers of the clinic, stepping out of the room. I placed my hand over my mouth to conceal myself.

“Why?!” She yelled. Her thin voice echoed in this small room, I heard her gasp as if she’s out of breath

"Why can't you love me still?" Irene whispered.

"Because you will never be her."
