Chapter 51 Passionate Night
Chapter 51 Passionate Night
Towards the mid night, Aria stirred in her sleep and then woke up.
The night wrapped the Bookthorn Kingdom in a rare stillness.
There was no alarms. There was no scouts running around through the corridors and no whispers of the enemies lurking beyond the borders.
Aria rose from the bed and stood by the window of their chamber with the moonlight passing through and painting silver along her bare shoulders. The shadows that were usually curling around her were calm tonight, it was no longer restless or warning. They lingered softly, like a breath held in reverence.
Lucian, who has also woke and sat on a couch, watched her from across the room.
He had faced many battles that had him soaked in blood in the battlefield. He has looked at death in the eyes many times without flinching.
Yet the sight of her that is quiet, vulnerable, and real, undid him in many ways that war never could.
“You’re thinking too loudly,” Aria said softly from where she stood, without turning to look at him.
Lucian exhaled and laugh a small, humorless laugh. “Is that part of the bond too? For you to hear what I'm thinking?”
She turned and then met his gaze. Her eyes were warm, steady and impossibly alive even after everything they had endured.
“It’s part of knowing you,” she replied.
He crossed the room slowly, as if afraid that sudden movement might shatter the fragile peace between them. When he stopped in front of her, the bond between them stirred gently, intimate, like a shared breath.
“I thought I was going to lose you,” he said quietly.
Aria reached for him, with her fingers curling into the fabric of his shirt. “But you didn’t.”
Lucian rested his forehead against hers gently. “I felt you slipping away from me. When the darkness took you… I thought..."
She silenced him with a touch on his jaw.
“Don’t say that,” she whispered. “What matters is we're here now.”
The words were simple, but they carried weight.
Lucian’s hand slid to her waist carefully. His thumb traced slow circles as if he was grounding himself in her presence.
“You stayed by my side," he murmured. “Even when I wasn’t myself.”
“There was never a moment I doubted you,” Aria said. “Not even when the world tried to turn you into something else.”
The bond pulsed warmly at her words, glowing with quiet intensity.
Lucian leaned down as he brushed his lips gently against hers.
The kiss was soft at first, as if testing, it was hesitant. As though both of them were afraid of how much they needed this.
Then Aria kissed him back fully.
Not carefully.
Not cautiously.
She kissed him with the force of everything they had survived. Every fear. Every almost-loss. Every unspoken promise.
This kiss carried heat.
Need.
The kind of longing born not from lust alone, but from survival, from near-loss, from the shared knowledge that tomorrow might demand everything from them again.
Lucian wrapped his arms around her firmly, pulling her closer until there was no space left between them. The bond surged, flooding him with her warmth, her trust, her fierce love.
Time slowed.
The world narrowed to the brush of breath, the heat of skin, the way her hands slid up his back like she was memorizing him, like she needed to know he was real.
They moved together instinctively, guided by something deeper than thought. He pressed her back gently against the bed, never breaking the kiss, never letting her feel alone for even a second.
When they finally parted, both were breathless.
Aria rested her forehead against his chest, listening to his heartbeat.
“Stay with me tonight, make love to me." she whispered.
Lucian’s answer was immediate. “I will always do. You don't have to ask first.”
They lay together beneath the covers, and the storm outside was forgotten. Lucian’s arm wrapped securely around her as Aria traced slow patterns over his skin, grounding herself in the warmth of him.
Lucian rose up a little and roamed his eyes over all her entire body. He then traced his fingers slowly up her hips.
For the first time since the Arlena possessed him, Lucian allowed himself to rest.
And Aria, despite the looming threat, despite the shadows waiting beyond the walls, she felt safe, loved, and needed.
Lucian pressed a soft kiss into her hair. “When this is over,” he said quietly, “I want us to have a future that doesn’t revolve around war.”
Aria tilted her head to look at him. “What kind of future?”
“One where mornings are quiet,” he said. “Where the greatest danger should be deciding whether to walk the forest or the river. Where you don’t have to carry the weight of the world alone.”
She smiled softly. “That sounds like a dream.”
“Then let’s survive long enough to make it real.”
She leaned in and kissed him again slowly, unhurried, full of promise.
Lucian's hands found her hips instinctively, firm but reverent, as though reminding himself that she was not something fragile to be protected from him—but something powerful choosing him
.
The night deepened around them as Lucian removed Aria's thin underwear and that made exposed her naked body fully.
Aria’s fingers threaded through his hair as she kissed him again, slower now and deliberate. Each movement said stay. Each breath whispered choose me.
Lucian broke the kiss only to rest his forehead against hers, breathing ha

And for a few stolen hours, the kingdom slept peacefully, unaware that love, that is powerful and fragile, was being forged into something dangerous enough to challenge fate itself.
But far beyond the walls of Bookthorn…
A masked figure watched the moon.
And smiled.
Because they knew that love...
Was the easiest weapon to turn against them.
