Chapter 105 Chapter 0105
•NATASHA•
“Natasha, are you home? We need to talk. Amelia came to see me, and—” she paused. “Please, you must do everything she told you to do.”
“What?” I scoffed, standing up from the couch while on the phone with Mary.
I was in disbelief that Amelia had found my birth mother. She blackmailed her and got her to call and convince me to give up my inheritance for them.
“Please, Natasha, you must do what she wants.”
“Where are you, Mary?”
“She’s in my hotel room. I told you that your father put me through hell, and I don’t want to go through what he put me through anymore. If you must give up your inheritance for our peace, then so be it.”
“Amelia had no right to come here and threaten you. I’ll talk with her.” I scoffed as I walked to my closet and grabbed something to wear.
The people we hired to find Kyle called earlier and told us they had a lead on him, and we were waiting for their next call, so I wanted to be ready for them after seeing Amelia.
I thought about everything she said and decided I won’t let anyone bully me anymore.
So many people had taken so much from me without a fight, and I didn’t want her to take advantage of me.
“I just found you, Natasha. I can’t lose you again. You don’t know what I went through in jail for something I didn’t do. There wasn’t a day I didn’t wish to be with you. Giving you up to my sister wasn’t by choice.”
“Don’t worry, you’ll get justice for what happened to you. Amelia’s mother is still alive, and she’s behind Amelia’s actions. She’s the one who will pay for this. I won’t give up what’s mine because of a bully.” I hung up and was about to walk out the door when I bumped into Richard.
“Richard, what are you doing here?” I furrowed my brow, confused to see him because when we last talked before he left, he told me he would find Kyle without Susan and me.
“There’s something I need to show you. Since you believe I made up Greg’s kidnapping and Kyle’s, this was out of my control. Lorene did this because she wanted to get back at me for breaking up with her.”
“What did she do?” I closed the door and leaned toward him.
I had a lot on my plate, and the last thing I needed was Lorene at my back. Daphne and Amelia were already bringing me hell, and I didn’t want more.
I didn’t tell Richard and Clyde that Daphne took him because I wanted to find her and deal with her myself.
Richard raised his cell phone and showed me an article. When I saw our pictures, I knew whatever was written there wasn’t good, and I didn’t want to read it anymore.
“Whatever she’s saying, I don’t care. There’s somewhere I need to be, and I would appreciate it if you stopped coming here. You’re the last person I’d want to see after everything you said yesterday. You insulted me and called me a whore in front of Susan and Clyde, and I won’t tolerate that. If you thought I was the same naive girl that you met eleven years ago, I’m sorry to disappoint you because I’m not that girl anymore.” I attempted to walk to the front door when he stepped in front of me and stopped me.
“You must read the article,” he insisted, handing me the phone.
I groaned as I took the phone and read the article, and what I saw there were insults and the life I left behind at the club.
Article: “Who knows? Richard and Natasha might have killed Roman so they could be together like old times. There’s no doubt that the business guru, Richard Martinez, wanted his slut back.”
“Lorene wrote this?” I shook my head, shocked that she thought I had a hand in Roman’s death.
When I saw the news a few days ago reporting Roman’s alleged death in his club, I felt relieved knowing that he could never hurt me and other girls anymore.
He put me through so much hell when I was working for him, and he ensured I could never run away from him.
“How did they find Roman’s body? He was in your dungeon the last time I saw him. Did you take her there?”
“They took him. His brother took him and has been threatening to make me pay for his death. He’s the one Lorene is working with.”
“If they want to come after us for Roman’s death, let them. As for Lorene, I don’t think she is a threat,” I scoffed, handing him back his cell phone.
“I think she’s involved in Kyle’s kidnapping. She wants me to come begging on my knees to her before she releases our son, and I want you to believe me in that.”
I leaned back and sighed. I didn’t want to tell him about Daphne because it would complicate things.
“What if she didn’t take him? She would’ve said something by now, Richard, if she took him. Listen,” I leaned closer. “Don’t let her distract you. We must find our son.”
“Where were you going?”
“Somewhere. There’s something I need to handle.”
“Is it Clyde?” He frowned.
I rolled my eyes. “Can you get over your jealousy for a second? Even if I were going to Clyde, it’s none of your business. I’ll date whoever I want to date, and there’s nothing you can do about that.”
I walked out the door and went to my car. I drove to Mary’s hotel, and when I got there, I found Amelia walking out the door.
She chuckled when she saw me. “Oh, if I had known you would come, I would’ve stayed longer.”
“I’m glad you’re here because I won’t say this to you again.” I leaned toward her, closing the gap between us. “My inheritance is my right, and I won’t give it up for you or your mother. When you get home, tell her she’s not getting a dime from me. Tell her she will pay for what she put my mother through, or better yet, tell her I’ll see her soon. As for you, don’t come near my mother or me again.”
I walked past her, got inside the house, and slammed the door in her face.
