"What's the plan, huh? Will you do nothing while Richard talks like that to you and when Susan thinks you're her assistant?" Clyde insisted, though I had assured him I had everything under control.
"I can't tell you everything I plan to do, Clyde. This is not how this works. I'll talk to Susan and find out why she's acting like that. She's my assistant, and I trust her, okay?"
Clyde sighed, scratching his head. "Fine. Call me when something comes up. I'll see what I can do to find Kyle. You said Richard knows where he is, and I trust you."
I breathed, relieved. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed his cheek. "Thank you for believing me."
Clyde kissed me back before he walked to his car and hopped inside.
I didn't move until he had driven out of sight. When I could no longer see his car, I breathed and turned around, looking at the villa for a moment before walking toward it.
When I walked into the living room, Richard had an ice bag on his broken nose, and Susan was sitting beside him, handing him a glass of water.
"Can we talk for a minute, Susie?"
"You can't talk with her while I'm right here? Your secret is out, Natasha. You're cheating with Clyde, and I don't believe the shit you said about us being over. I can bet a dollar that we are never over." Richard stood up from the couch and leaned toward me.
I rolled my eyes and sighed as I looked up at him. The disrespect he gave me when we were married was still there, and I didn't want it to persist any longer.
"If you thought things were ever going to work out between us after you called me a whore, you lied to yourself. I won't tolerate the disrespect and insults you gave me. Not in front of Susan and Clyde. That won't happen."
"We aren't over for a long shot, Natasha," he scoffed. "But good try, though. What you'll do is break up with my cousin and stop embarrassing me. You're the mother of my child, and it would be a shame to prove Kyle right about you breaking our family."
The bloody idiot! He knew this would change things between Kyle and me, but because he wanted to maintain the upper hand in everything, he wanted to ruin my relationship with my son again.
"You broke our family the day you brought Lorene into our home and divorced me to be with her. Now you've also broken our home by faking the kidnapping of our son to get money from Susan."
I wanted to tell him the truth, but I didn't want to risk the truth coming out without proper planning.
"Break up with me and see what I'll do. You'll never see Kyle again. Mark my words." He threatened me, and my chest tightened.
"Can we talk, Susan?" I looked at her as she stood beside Richard.
She rolled her eyes as she walked to the hallway, and I followed her. When we got inside my bedroom, I closed the door and stood near her.
"What the hell do you think you're doing? How dare you rat Clyde and me out?" I snarled at her.
"I thought I was supposed to play this role as Susan Wilson well and make Richard believe it. So, what's the problem?" She chuckled. "Come on, Richard will focus on you and Clyde and slip somewhere. That's the only way you'll find your son, Nat."
"You're not supposed to do something without discussing it with me," I retorted. "I don't care if you think your plan will work, but what you did there is unacceptable."
"Fine, Miss Know-it-all. What's the plan?”
She rolled her eyes and folded her arms across her chest.
I could see the rebellion in her eyes, and it made me angry. I trusted her and never thought she would turn her back on me one day and betray me.
"You sided with Richard last night and told me I was overreacting when I wasn't innocent. Do you have any idea what you did? Richard thinks he can disrespect me because you gave him the go-ahead."
"I said what I said because what you did wasn't fair. You told me the plan was to date Richard and get your son back and not date his cousin. Is he the father?"
"You already know that, Susan. If you hadn't exposed our relationship to Richard, he wouldn't have known anything. Clyde wouldn't have had to reconsider telling him the truth."
"I did nothing wrong. This is on you, Natasha. You're the one who is sleeping with both men. I'm not the one Richard will hate when the truth about Kyle's father comes out."
She was about to turn around and head to the door when I grabbed her wrist and stopped her.
"Are you stabbing me in the back? If you're no longer on my side, tell me so that I don't wake up with a knife in my back tomorrow from you."
"I've been your assistant for two years, and you doubt my loyalty to you now?" She scoffed. "If you want your son back and for us to return home with him, you'll let me do this."
She looked at me and at my hand on her wrist. I sighed and let her go, folding my arms across my chest as she walked to the door and left.
My cell phone rang, and when I picked it up and heard Daphne's voice, I rolled my eyes and sighed.
The bitch didn't want to give up. She was getting on my nerves, and I didn't want to give her my attention.
"Daphne, what do you want?"
"Do you want to say hello to your little boy?" She chuckled, and my heart skipped a beat. "He has been calling for his mommy all night. Here, say hello to Mommy, Kyle."
"Mommy, please help me."
