Chapter 68 I'm fine
Lord Raphael insisted that they all stay there for the night. As usual, Isabella hesitated, but Evan tried convincing her and they both stayed in the guest room, busy chatting. Meanwhile, Zeke went out of the mansion with Simon to an old bookshop, which was not too far from Lord Raphael's mansion. Ever since they left, both of them hadn't said a thing. Zeke's face was cold, while Simon's psycho face was still glowing like the sociopath he was.
“Why didn't I think about what Evan said all these years? Am I really that dumb?” asked Zeke, shaking his head as he stared at the book in his hand. The bookshop was big and old. Since it was near Lord Raphael's mansion, most of the books concerned supernatural beings. The library had been there for centuries.
It was lively, bustling with people. Zeke and Simon were sitting at their own wooden table. Since the library was old, everything in it screamed old vibes. Both Simon and Zeke had already picked up a book they loved reading.
“Zeke, what nonsense are you talking about? I've been friends with you since childhood. Still, you don't trust me?” Zeke could see the smile on Simon's face vanish—the smile that never dried up.
He assumed Simon was terribly displeased. “Simon, calm down. Who said I don't trust you? I'm just worried that all these years I've been friends with someone who is mentally unstable.”
“Zeke, you! You're crazy!” Simon instantly screamed, making some people shift their gaze in their direction. Simon immediately slammed his mouth shut.
“I told you,I am fine. 99% sane. There's nothing wrong with me. You have to believe me, not her.” This time Simon's voice was more like a whisper.
Zeke's lips pulled up into a dangerous smile. “We'll go see the doctor tomorrow,” he informed him.
“I won't!Absolutely not!”
He refused, slamming his book on the table and drawing more attention from the people. But this time he didn't care what they were thinking.
“I am a grown-up.And many councilmen are under my command. I've worked for Raphael all my life, and this is how you choose to repay me?” He leaned into Zeke's face.
“I'm not Lord Raphael.I'm Ezekiel. I just truly care for you, no ill intentions. I truly want you to be better.”
“Zeke,I said I'm fine,” Simon insisted.
“That's what crazy people usually say. They won't truly know whether they are sick or not. Let the doctor decide.”
Simon bit his lip for a while, rolling his eyes, and then the smile returned to his face.
“But I'm not sick.”
“Simi, let's not talk about this anymore, and it's better to be safe than sorry,” said Zeke nonchalantly, finally glancing up to look at Simon with ice-cold gray eyes.
Annoyed,Simon sat back in his seat, gritting his teeth.
‘Evan, just you wait. You frame me for being mentally ill and humiliate me like this?’
“Why don't we head back? It's already late. Lord Raphael said we should leave early first thing tomorrow morning,” Simon reminded, slipping his book cover closed.
“Lazy,I want to read more. But…remember, you aren't going anywhere until you see that doctor tomorrow. According to Evan, he's on his way.”
…
The guest room where Evan and Isabella volunteered to stay was super cool. There's a vampire in this mansion, and not any kind of vampire—a pureblooded one at that. So they had to look for a way to prevent Lord Raphael from hearing their discussion. Of course, Isabella had her way. She instantly placed her hand on the cold floor and chanted something. And in no time, everywhere was sealed. No one could hear what they were talking about—not even a pureblooded vampire.
This gave both girls the advantage to scream and have fun while they ate the food they'd stolen from the kitchen.
“That Simon guy,is he really mentally unstable?” Isabella asked.
“Of course not,”Evan replied, making Isabella breathe a sigh of relief.
“Hmm,why do you seem to care so much?” asked Evan, curious.
“Haha,am I crazy? I just have a soft heart,” she lied, which Evan didn't believe.
“If you say so, then let's eat. After all, those things aren't our business,” Evan pointed out.
“Of course.”
Knock knock!
Someone knocked on the door. She peeked and saw it was none other than Simon. Evan's smile dropped. “Hi, I'll go get Isabella right away.”
“That won't be necessary,”his words came out clear, slim, and straight. “I'm here to see you, not her,” Simon confirmed.
“My lady, shall we take a walk outside?” Evan hesitated and then nodded. She was about to step out of the room when Isabella appeared from inside.
“Where are you guys going?Having fun without me?” said the silver-haired girl. Just seeing her was enough to make Simon rethink how he was about to treat Evan. And he hadn't even thought about the lion, Zeke’s power.
He could feel his legs trembling. To save himself from the embarrassment, he had made a final verdict that he wasn't going to take revenge on Evan again.
“Okay, let's all go for a walk outside…the mansion,” said Simon as his red eyes shifted to Isabella.
“Whose choice?”she stared back at him.
The trio went outside to see the beautiful stars.Zeke had come back with Simon a while ago, and when he just arrived, he stormed into his room saying he was stressed out. The Lord's mansion was extremely large and spacious. Evan stared at the beautiful yellow stars. Then something came to her mind. She looked beside her and saw Simon. Poor guy was forced to watch stars.
He was looking up and wearing his usual expression.
Isabella just watched and hoped this could soon be over so she could get to her room. She couldn't stand Simon. He smiles a lot but is extremely dangerous. His aura was thick, and it stirred something uneasy within her. If not for Evan being there, she bet she might've died here long ago.
“I am tired.I want to go back to the room. Evan, you coming?” asked Isabella, and Evan nodded.
“Why leaving so soon?”Simon asked. Isabella gritted her teeth.
“We are done here. For the main time, go get your head checked; the doctor has arrived.”
“You…”
