Chapter 28 28

Chapter 28 28
Kimberly’s POV

The next few school days went by in a blur.

At first, I thought Julian would come after me and make my life miserable because of what I told him the last time he was at my place. But surprisingly, he backed off. Which I was thankful for. It gave me the space I thought I needed to think. In the real sense, I was not able to do any thinking.

If anything, the apprehension I was feeling got worse. The mark on my wrist was troubling me more than I would have wanted to bother about. It has been getting worse day after day. And I have come to discover that the hotness would happen when Julian and I were in the same space. But it gets worse when we are not around each other.

This pull made me want to be near him every time too. These days, I’ve been feeling the ugly head of jealousy rise within me anytime I see him with girls who want his attention. Fine, his aura was cold and made people stay away, but that did not make girls stay away from him. They still talked to him even when he did not give them the time of day. It’s gotten worse since he assumed his position as the student president and they all discovered that he could walk.

They swarmed around him like bees that had no destination. And for some reason that made me mad.

“Don’t tell me you have broken up already. You look like a desolate girlfriend.” London launched himself into the seat that was beside me which happened to be empty. We were waiting for the next teacher to come in and I was enjoying my own silence until he decided to bump it.

“I did not ask for your opinion about whatever I’m thinking. So make yourself scarce.” If that was supposed to make him leave, it did the opposite, because he leaned into my space, placed his hand on my table, and propped his head on his hand, looking at me earnestly.

I could hear some people saying some nasty things about me from somewhere in the class thanks to my sudden advanced hearing.

“How can she two-time with someone like Julian?”

“Only a slut would behave like that.”

“I knew she was up to no good.”

I zeroed them out and my gaze went to where Julian was sitting, which was beside the window that was closed and the blinds were down. He seemed to be engrossed in whatever he was reading on his phone. And from the grip he had on the phone, it must not be good. He looked like he would snap the phone in half if he were not careful.

“When I’m with you, you look at me. Not at him or anyone else.”

“You place too much value on yourself. How about you leave me alone for one and face your business? That would be better for all of us right?” I said looking at him and leaning back into my seat to stay away from his closeness

He had no shame whatsoever. And I would not stoop low to his level. From everything he’s done to me, I should stay away from him and I was trying. The only thing that is keeping me on the edge with him is what he was hiding from me with Julian. I think if I pestered him well, he would talk to me and tell me what I needed to know.

So a very rubbish idea dropped into my head. And before I chickened out, I said it without thinking,

“Can we meet up after school?” I asked him and I could see the way his eyes brightened at that idea and almost immediately he said yes.

“Now that’s what I’m talking about. You’re thinking like me now.” He said and before I knew what was happening, he pushed a hair that had fallen out to my face, and pushed it back behind my ear.

Almost immediately, there was a crack that I heard so distinctly. I looked in the direction from which I knew it came. Julian was still holding the phone in his hand. The only difference in his stance right now was the fact that the phone in his hand had cracked into pieces.

The people around him noticed too because there were gasps of surprise from everyone. How was that even possible? What kind of insane strength would a person have that he would crack a phone with one hand without blinking?

I looked at his face and he gave nothing away. In fact, he was as composed as ever. He only stood up from his chair, walked to the back of the classroom, and dropped the phone in the dustbin like nothing had just gone wrong.

“Don’t touch me.” I snapped and pulled my head back from London’s touch. He only smiled as he had just won a lottery. Then he stood up and walked to the back of his class where he was supposed to be sitting.

I heard him call Julian a freak as he walked past him.

Oh my God.

He did not break his phone because he was mad that London touched me right? That is not even a sane explanation. So I shook my head to keep the thought away from my mind.

Not long after, the teacher walked into the room and the class started. I was bored out of my mind but then, I couldn’t seem to settle the emotions bubbling inside of me. I can’t place my hand on it. But I was restless.

I looked at Julian again and he was concentrating like the perfect student image that he had.

Somewhere in the middle of the lecture, I heard something in my head like,

“You will regret what just happened.” I jumped out of fright. I was sure I heard it. I looked around frantically to see if anyone actually spoke to me but there was no one.

“Do you have anything to say, Miss Blackwood?” The teacher asked, pinning me with a glare and I shook my head. She went back to her teaching.

Something dark and daunting started to breed in the back of my mind. And I just knew I was fucked.
