Chapter 123 123

Chapter 123 123
Kimberly’s POV

The stares from the people in school were not a new thing for me. I’ve always gotten that. But today, it was really weird and more potent. I felt like everyone and their mother was looking at me.

I could feel their eyes digging into me. And whispers too.

“That’s her.”

“Why would she embarrass herself like that?”

“I bet she did not sleep well after receiving a rejection like that. Look at her eyes all swollen and red-rimmed.”

“I would not blame her. It was not her fault. She thought she could have the hottest guy on campus. And see where that got her.”

“She should have known that someone like Julian was not on her level.”

“She got what’s coming for her. Finally, she’s humbled. Who would have thought that a little video like that would bring her down?”

I stopped in my tracks. It wasn’t even about having a good hearing now; they wanted me to hear what they were talking about.

My heart was racing again. A video?

I was still trying to wrap my head around what they were talking about when someone blocked my way.

“Well, hello to the newest celebrity in town.” It was Brianna, and she had a very wide smile on her face. She looked happy and very fulfilled. Like her lifetime goal was just accomplished.

“I’m not interested in a confrontation with you right now, Brianna,” I said and was about to walk away when she grabbed my arm very hard, and that made me stay rooted in a spot.

“Oh, you might want to be. This is not only about you. Who would have thought that this would be where you would fall? Flat on your face?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I said hurriedly as I discovered that people were starting to gather. And I was not interested in having anyone in my business. I only wanted to know about the video that was circulating that I heard.

“Oh, she does not know, guys.” She said to her friends, who snickered like something funny was said. And was she supposed to be back in school already?

“We should let her know.” A crowd was forming, and with the looks they had on their faces, they knew. So, I was the only one left in the dark here.

Brianna was typing earnestly on her phone, and then she shoved it in my face. “That’s what is going on. You’re welcome.”

It took a while for me to focus on what was in front of me, and when I finally did, I shuddered. Shills ran through my body, and goosebumps took over too.

There I was, standing in front of Julian, and he was eating his very breakup message on me. It was very clear, and one could tell that it was zoomed in too. And his voice was very steady.

“What?” I whispered, bewildered. “How….” My eyes fluttered shut and opened again. It was getting too much. I could feel the pressure building in me. It was like yesterday at work. Everything was starting to blur. I never knew that I was this emotional person. It was never supposed to happen to me.

“I know you would be wondering how. Well, my very good friend over here,” as soon as she said that, the last person I was expecting came out from behind her with a wide smile on her face as she had just achieved the best thing of the year.

I said something, but it did not come out.

“Amelia. You?” I finally grasped my wits. “Why?”

She just shrugged.

“You were too arrogant. I didn’t like your savior complex.” She said, staring at me. There was something about her eyes that never sat right with me. And right now, the way she was looking at me, I was almost shivering in my boots.

I shook my head. This was wrong. All of it.

Every single one of these was wrong. Nothing made sense.

I wanted to leave, but I found that I was surrounded. Or maybe it was all in my imagination. They were all laughing, and they were booing. Amelia stood in front of me, grabbed my face, and said.

“It’s not always about you. I hate the way you walk, talk, and the way you act as if everything revolves around you. Taking you down is one of the easiest things that I’ve done. But I want you to take this too; you don’t mean anything to anyone. You don’t mean shit.” She spat in my face. But she made sure that I was the only one who heard. Then she stepped back with a wide smile that did not reach her eyes.

Blood drained from my face.

Who would have thought?

I felt someone suddenly grab my hand, and I wanted to fight them off, but I stopped.

“Let’s go.” London’s voice got to me, and I just slacked.

“London.” It was Amelia that called his name.

Everyone shut up then.

“You’re all pathetic.” He raised his voice so that they would hear him. They must have been too shocked to say anything. Because they were all quiet.

“Ganging up on her like this? That’s a cowardly move. And you, Brianna, you should know that your days are really numbered.” Sandy’s voice cut through. My head snapped towards her. What is this? Is this part of another elaborate plan to make me crumble further?

I did not get a chance to ask the question before I was pulled out of the place. When we got to the place they took me to, which I found was the gym, I looked at them.

“What is this?” My voice was scratchy.

“What do you think? I’m saving your ass. So now you owe me.” London said nonchalantly. I wanted to snap when Cole came out of nowhere.

“What’s up?” He said with a large smile that got on my nerves, but then he raised his hands in surrender like he could see the thoughts that were running in my head.

“Calm down. I tried to make Sandy pull the video down as soon as it was posted the other day. And she did remove it. But then, some people already had it saved on their phone and moved it to other devices. But don’t worry about it. It will die out soon enough.” He said.

“And for my cousin, he will pay dearly for what he did.”
