Chapter 22 New Friend.
I was in my room one afternoon searching for something to do to ease my boredom when Sarah and Lysander walked in as usual. Sarah was holding a velvet dress that looks super expensive and spontaneous. It looks like something worn by high class ladies who had basked in endless wealth their whole life.
It had been four days since the vampire King woke up. Four days since I last saw or talked to Domenic. He was constantly in my mind, driving me crazy and messing with my thoughts.
I could still feel his sinful hands trailing up my body in a disturbingly hot way. I always dreamed about his mouth on me, his hands roaming all over my needy body, those fingers touching places I desperately ached for him.
But it seems like Domenic was purposely avoiding me after that day where he showed me a quarter of the heaven he could give me just by touching me. Why can't he just admit it?
Back to the present. Lysander and Sarah were still standing right in front of me. I stared at Lysander with raised brows. "Why are you guys here? Is there an occasion?"
Lysander nodded in excitement. "Actually yes Kate. There is an occasion later tonight. It's to celebrate the King's recovery. A big party will be held tonight and you're invited." He motioned for Sarah to come forward and she did. "The King asked you to wear this to the party."
I stared at the dress and then back at Lysander cautiously. "Is it really safe for me to go to that party? Aren't there going to be a lot of vampires?"
He nodded, "that is true Kate, but there is nothing for you to worry about. You're not a slave, you're the king's guest and no one would dare to touch you."
I wasn't that much assured by his words, so I asked. "Would Domenic be there?" I hate to admit that I would feel safer if he was around. He had vowed to protect me even though it was for the wrong reasons.
Lysander looked a little surprised that I asked that, but he didn't question it. He just answered. "Yes of course Kate. Prince Domenic will be there."
My heart instantly relaxed. Apart from him protecting me, I haven't seen him in days. He doesn't even come to have breakfast with me anymore. This will be a good chance to see and talk to him. Maybe work on some ways to seduce him.
I looked at the dress in Sarah's hands. It looks fancy and seductive. The shoulder and chest area was made of lace that would probably show the color of my skin, and it had a slit that came all the way to my mid thigh.
I wonder what he would think when he sees me in that dress. He claims he doesn't find me attractive, but we shall see if he truly meant those words tonight.
I smirked as a devious thought formed in my head. I'm surely going to drive Domenic crazy tonight. He definitely will not be able to resist me.
"Okay, let's start the dress up." I declared.
Sarah wasted no time in helping me with a bath and helping me get dressed in the gown she brought. As expected it fits me well and clung to my body in all the right places. Lysander excused himself to go run an errand for the king leaving me alone with Sarah who was very focused on dressing my hair.
I haven't really had a conversation with her since knowing her. Probably because she was always do quiet and kept to herself. She always had her head down as if the mere thought of keeping eye contact with anyone was a crime.
I couldn't help feeling sorry for Sarah as I wondered about her life. How did she become a slave? Doesn't she have a family? How did a human end up in a supernatural world and become a slave to the vampire's?
I told myself that I shouldn't ask or bother about her, but I couldn't help my curiosity.
"So, Sarah," at the mention of her name, I felt her freeze behind me and I could actually feel her hands shaking against my hair. She was definitely startled that I am even talking to her right now. "How old are you?"
She didn't answer for a moment. I could tell she was very tense and afriad to speak up. Just what has the vampire's done to her to make her feel so scared of something as simple as talking to a stranger.
Eventually she cleared her throat and answered. "I_I_I'm...I'm eighteen." Her voice was so small and cute like a shy kid. She's definitely a shy one, that much is for sure.
"No way, you're the same age as me! I could almost swear you were younger than me!" I exclaimed with a grin. She actually looks younger than her age. Probably because she looks too cute to be real.
I could tell she blushed at the compliment. "Thank you." She whispered.
I looked over my shoulder at her with a wide grin. "You're welcome."
She blushed madly again and lowered her head to hide her face behind her long red hair. She's so cute.
I turned my head forward and continued talking as she went on with dressing my hair. "How long have you been a slave?" I blurted but covered my mouth immediately. "Oh sorry, I didn't mean to be so blunt about it."
"I__its fine." She mumbled out. "I... Well I think fifteen years now."
My eyes widened in horror. "Do you mean you were three years old when you became a slave?"
"Yes." She replied, her voice heavy with sadness. "M...my mother was a slave herself. We use to stay in the northern coven of the vampire Kingdom. It is run by the vampire elder Giron. He's a member of the council. He breed's humans like they were animals. once we were born, our mothers take care of us and he would take us away from her at the age of three. I had passed through a few masters before I was given as a gift to the king at the age of twelve. Since then I've been a slave at the palace."
I was repulsed by this. He breeds humans? That's such a sick thing to do. Just how sadistic are these vampires?
"What about your mom? Do you still see her?"
"I haven't seen her since I was taken away fifteen years ago." She replied sounding more comfortable talking to me. "I doubt I will even remember her face if I'm fortunate enough to see her again. It's been so long."
My heart was heavy for Sarah. She has really gone through a lot. She never knew what freedom is since she was three, a baby!
What the hell!
"I'm sorry you went through that Sarah." I said sympathetically.
She let out a sigh that sounded like relief. Perhaps she was happy to have let that off her chest. If that's the case, I'm happy to have been a listening ear.
"It's fine. I guess I just have a cruel fate. But, there's actually something I've been dying to ask you ever since you showed up in this world." She admitted shyly.
I smiled warmly at her. "What do you want to ask?"
"You came from the human world right?" I nodded and glanced over at her curiously. Her blue eyes were light with excitement for the very first time since I've met her. "What's the human world like? Many of us who were born in the supernatural world has heard about the human world, but we have doubts about it. Prince Domenic sometimes goes and comes but it wasn't convincing enough, but you're living proof of it's existence. What's it like there?"
Her excitement was heart-warming and it made my heart clench for her. She doesn't even know the world she originally comes from. "Well, it's a lot more modern than this world. There are many countries there, and unlike the supernatural world, they actually have something called school. Personally, I like to call it hell."
Sarah laughed for the first ever. She looked free now, a lot more beautiful. "We have schools here too, but only the vampires can attend."
I groaned when I realized she was right. I mean Domenic did tell me that he graduated with a biology degree.
"I see. Well, it's good that you guys can't attend. School sucks anyway. Lots of egoistic bastard who do nothing but play with your heart!" My mind flash to Jason and I scrunched up my face in anger.
"It seems like you've had a bad experience in school." She said softly.
"You won't even imagine." I agreed and we laughed again. The tension in the air earlier eased entirely and we became comfortable in each other's presence.
I told her everything she wanted to know about the human world. I told her about my family, my stupid friend Quinn and the dicks at school.
She seems more interested in my school life and I could tell that she longs to experience something like that.
Then and there I made my decision. Sarah is a nice girl who doesn't deserve what these monsters are putting her through. If I find a way to leave the supernatural world, I will try my best to bring her with me to the human world.
