Chapter 20 The King's Guest.
I had barely woken up when Lysander walked into my room along with the human slave Sarah, and I knew that they were here to get me ready for breakfast with Domenic.
My mood was almost ruined by the thought of Domenic, but I was happy to see Lysander again. I didn't see him throughout yesterday. He wasn't the one who even brought lunch up to my room, Sarah did.
I usually eat breakfast with Domenic, but lunch and dinner were brought up to my room.
I grinned the moment I saw him looking as handsome as always. He was dressed in a formal outfit. A black suit and expensive shoes, and his long hair fell to his shoulder, silky and shiny. "Did you get lost Lysander?"
He smiled shyly, "a wonderful morning to you Kate. No, I didn't get lost. I was just busy with a task that was given to me by the prince." I scowled at the mention of the prince and guilt took over his expression again. "And I also heard what happened yesterday. I'm sorry that the prince said all those things to you."
I frowned at him, "how did you hear that?"
"I was close by, and vampires has a sharp sense of hearing." He explained looking uncomfortable. "I'm sorry for eves dropping."
I rolled my eyes as Sarah helped me out of my night dress. Lysander turned away as always. "There's nothing for you to be sorry about Lysander. It's not your fault that your prince is a dick!"
Sarah gasped softly at my audacity. If not that I was standing very close to her, I wouldn't have heard it. She was probably shocked that I had the balls to insult the all so dangerous vampire prince.
Well news flash people, Domenic Darkshadow is the biggest jerk I've ever been cursed to see and that's just a fact. He shouldn't worry though, I'm going to teach him a lesson he's never gonna forget for the rest of his life.
After a bath, I was dressed in much more fancy clothes. A white long gown with a slit that came all the way to my mid thigh. Sarah dressed my hair to the best of my ability, and I had no choice but to ask Lysander.
"Um, is there a special occasion today?"
Lysander smiled, "yes of course Kate. The king wants to meet you."
My eyes widened in shock and alarm. Domenic's father wants to meet me? "Do... Do you mean the King is awake?"
Lysander smiled. The expression on his face showed just how happy he was about it. "Yes Kate, the king is awake and it's all thanks to you. Not only have you saved the king's life, you've saved a nation from collapsing."
I rolled my eyes trying not to let his words get to my head. "Don't be so dramatic Lysander. Even though something happens to the King, your beloved prince will be there to take care of you, is that not so?" There was obvious sarcasm in my words, but I meant it either way.
Lysander sighed sadly, "you're right, but it won't be easy. Many of the council members do not really like Domenic because he's half human. If the king had died, an internal war would have broken out."
That piece of information got me interested. "You mean, Domenic is hated by the vampire's because he's half human?"
Lysander licked his lips nervously, knowing he had said something he shouldn't have said, but he continued anyway. "Not all vampires but most of them. There are five elders in the council and I'll say three out of those five hates him."
My heart grew heavy for him, "that's quite sad." Maybe that's why he was so bent on fooling everyone that he's a monster. He didn't want them looking down on him just because he's half human.
I scoffed. So that bastard does care? Beneath all those bravado was a guy who just wanted to be acknowledged.
He shouldn't worry though. I don't give a shit about what he says to me from now on. I'm going to break down all his walls and show him the person he truly is since he refused to see for himself, and for the first time ever, I'm going to follow the advice of my stupid friend Quinn.
If she was here, I know she'll probably advise me to make sure Domenic Darkshadow fucks me before he dumps me. I'll definitely make that happen before returning to my world.
For now, let's go see what the King has to say to me.
I followed Lysander as he lead me down the familiar path leading to the room where the King had been kept all this time.
As expected, Domenic was already there was already there along with Julian and Linus. My eyes lingered on Domenic a little too longer. Dressed in simple jeans and a T-shirt, Domenic looks as mouthwatering as ever. I can't wait to seduce him and show him just what he's missing.
The king also stood there. Not completely healthy but a lot better than the corpse that lay lifeless on that bed yesterday.
Looking at him closely, I could now see that he bore some resemblance to Domenic. They both had the same hair color, jawline and flirty smile though their eyes were different. The king's eyes were a rare shade of glowing amber while Domenic's is a beautiful glowing green.
His face lit up the moment he saw me. "You must be Kate." He assumed and I walked closer to where he stood slightly nervous and slightly afriad. He seems nice, but you never know. After all he's Domenic's father.
I had no idea how to act. Should I bow or curtsey? Girls curtsey right?
I curtsied, "uh_ it's uh_ a pleasure to uh_ meet you, y_ your Majesty." I visibly cringed at my stuttering ignoring how Domenic's lips curved into an amused smile and how Lysander held back laughter.
The King doesn't make anything out of my lame greeting and instead took my right hand from my side. I tried not to flinch when he kissed the back of it warmly. "The pleasure is mine Kate. I must say, you're very beautiful."
I blushed but couldn't resist smirking at Domenic but he only rolled his eyes and looked away from me. Glad his father was not a dick like him.
"Thank you your majesty. You're handsome as well."
The king laughed, rich and powerful. "Thank you my dear. I heard you saved my life and even though humans are treated as slaves here, I know how to show gratitude to someone who saved me." I smiled. I'm loving this King with each second. "I've heard your situation, about how you got lost in the supernatural world, and I have decided that you will not be made a slave. Instead you will be my guest, and no one is to lay a hand on you for any reason at all or they will be faced with death."
Relief threaten to drown me. For a moment there, I really thought I would be made a slave. This is good news at least. "Thank you your Majesty. I appreciate your kindness."
"You're welcome dear. I am not strong enough, but when I have regained my full strength, I shall announce this to everyone in the palace. For now only the ones in the room knows of my decision." He then glanced around him at everyone, "I urge everyone of you present in this room to keep Kate's blood a secret. If the council knows what her blood can do, she will be in danger and I do not want that."
They all bowed and choruses except Domenic. "Yes your Majesty!"
The king looked back at me. "For the time being Kate, you will be under the care of my son Domenic. He will protect you until we figure out a way for you to return to your world."
My smile was so big when he said that. I couldn't be more grateful. "Thank you so much your Majesty."
"But there's a catch Kate," he continued in a teasing tone. "You'll have to give me your blood everyday."
I couldn't help giggling. "That's no problem your Majesty. As long as you have decided to keep me safe."
He nodded pleased, and I stared at Domenic who was already looking at me. Didn't he say his father would make me his slave? Now even he can't have my blood because I'm not a slave but a guest.
But why does it look like he doesn't mind.
