Chapter 136 The Plan.
Chapter 136 The Plan.
GIRON’S POV
Ten years. It has been ten long years since that bitch Camille and her human-turned-vampire took the throne. My blood boiled at the thought. How could this happen? The throne was meant for me! The King had already declared me his heir because his own children had proven to be nothing but traitors.
But with the arrival of the Beast, everything changed. Camille and Josh now rule without fear or shame, and everything our kind once believed in has gone to shambles. Humans are no longer seen as slaves; those who wished to return to their world have long since departed.
The humans now deem it fit to act as they please, believing their actions no longer hold consequences. Vampires are even marrying humans as they wish. Our world is falling apart, and I can do nothing but watch. The Beast’s shadow hangs over me, even in his absence.
Every day, I dream of ending Camille’s pathetic life—and her lover’s—for destroying our kingdom and turning it into a weak nation. They do not deserve that throne.
The door to my chambers opened without an invitation. Linus stepped in, dressed in noble robes befitting a council member. After that coward Karina surrendered her role and fled to the human world, Linus had been promoted to take her spot.
We haven't spoken for years. Our plans to dominate the supernatural world fell to pieces thanks to Camille and her bastard. I wondered what he was doing here now.
I set aside the cup of blood I was sipping and looked at him with raised brows. "What brings you to my coven, Linus? After our failures, I thought you would want nothing to do with me."
"Indeed," he agreed, stepping deeper into the room and closing the door behind him. "We are failures, Giron. We had a perfect plan to dominate the world, yet we failed to control a kingdom as small as the vampire nation. How then could we hope to rule the world?"
"Don't put the blame on me!" I snarled. "It wasn't entirely my fault. You know how powerful the Legendary Beast is. Going against him would have meant the end of me."
Linus maintained a stoic expression. "Yes, I know that. But your failure lies in the fact that you gave up completely. Are you truly content watching Camille and Josh destroy everything our leaders worked centuries to build? They may have Lord Khaos on their side, but with the right planning, even Khaos can be brought down."
I watched him warily. "You have a plan, don't you?"
He sighed and took a seat. "Unlike you, I will not sit still and watch our kingdom fall to ruin. While you were here drowning in self-pity, I’ve been traveling the world, gathering allies. As I expected, many in the supernatural world resent Khaos’s domination."
"And what do you plan to do with these new followers?"
He smirked, dark and predatory. "I plan to start a war. A war that will bring Khaos down."
I shook my head at his stupidity. "A war against Khaos is impossible, Linus. He is too powerful. Not even a unified nation could defeat him."
"Not against him exactly," he said, his voice dropping an octave. "Listen, Giron. The last war was against the god Helios and his creations—enemies the Beast could defeat freely to 'save' us. But if two nations turn on each other and defy the Beast's peace, Khaos will be forced into a corner. In his fury, he will either destroy them both or abandon them to kill one another."
The logic wasn't entirely flawed, but it wouldn't be easy. "How do you plan to start it? Camille and Josh would never go against the Beast."
Linus’s red eyes flashed deviously. "I have already reached out to the witches. There are those among them who remain true followers of Helios and crave revenge for his death. We have an agreement. A letter will be sent to Camille in Lord Fujin’s handwriting, seeking an urgent meeting. I will escort her to the Witch Kingdom with a few of her 'trusted' men. She will leave Josh in charge of the throne and their son. And while she is there... she will die by my hand."
I was stunned. "Linus, you’re planning treason?"
He smirked, uncaring. "No one will know. The blame will fall entirely on the witches. I will 'escape' and return to inform Josh of what the witches did to his beloved Queen. I will tell him they slaughtered her as revenge for Helios. What causes a swifter war than a King who has lost the woman he loves?"
I began to see the brilliance of it. Camille’s death would bring me more peace than I could describe. I only wished I could be the one to kill her myself, but my presence would be too suspicious.
"What about Lord Fujin, the leader of the witches? As long as he lives, he won't let you touch her."
Linus chuckled darkly. "That is why we are different, Giron. I have planned this to the last detail. As we speak, Lord Fujin is no more. Every follower of the Moon Goddess in the Witch Kingdom is being eliminated. The one who rules the witches now is a secret follower of Helios. Camille’s death will be the revelation that sets the world on fire."
I laughed. I laughed so hard my chest burned. "You are even more evil than I thought, Linus. I hope your plan holds. If not, your head will be at your feet."
"Do not worry," he said, his expression turning deadly serious. "You must play your part, Giron. After Camille’s death, you must convince Josh to seek blood and start a war. Can you do that?"
I smirked. "Count on it. As long as you bring back Camille’s head, the rest will be easy."
I could finally see a future for our people. Once Lord Khaos is out of the way, the vampire would rule over the other creatures in the supernatural world.
The Lycans, dragons, fae, and witches, we would all be under our control. I could already see the disaster about to be unleashed.
I could hardly wait.
