93. MY BODY IS NOT THE SAME.

A month had passed since the events that shook Eldemere. Alaric and I decided it was time to move forward, leaving behind the painful memories and ghosts of the past. Although there were still wounds to heal, the move to the north of England seemed to be the first step towards a new life together.

Our new journey began with Alaric's decision to relinquish his status as Lord, a position he had carried with such weight and responsibility. For him, it meant not only leaving behind a title but also the expectations and shackles imposed by Castiel and his lineage. It was a brave choice, but also liberating, allowing him to define his own destiny away from the bonds of the past.

As we settled into our new home, a modest cottage in the countryside, we felt a sense of peace and freedom that had long eluded us. Away from the intrigues and politics of Eldemere, we found a refuge where we could rebuild ourselves and heal our wounded souls.

While we unpacked our few belongings in the simple house, Alaric and I dedicated ourselves to building a life together, far from the shadows of the past. We planted a garden in the backyard, cultivating colorful flowers and fresh vegetables that symbolized our hope for a bright future.

Our days were filled with simple tasks and quiet activities. Alaric, now free from the responsibilities of a Lord, found satisfaction in the simplicity of country life, dedicating himself to manual labor and woodworking projects that connected him with the land and made him feel alive.

Meanwhile, I immersed myself in the art of painting, seeking to express my emotions and experiences through the colors and shapes that came to life on the canvas. It was a form of therapy for me, a way to process everything that had happened and find beauty even in the deepest scars.

At night, we gathered by the fireplace, sharing stories and dreams as the crackling of the flames enveloped us in warmth and comfort. It was a moment of intimacy and connection, where we reminded ourselves of the love that bound us and renewed our promise to face any challenge the future held together.

Observing Alaric working in the garden beside our home, a gentle smile forms on my lips. Despite all the trials and tribulations we've faced, I'm grateful for this moment of peace and serenity we've found together. With Alaric by my side, I know we can overcome anything, and that this new beginning is just the start of an extraordinary journey that awaits us.

Furthermore, as we settle into our new home, I've received news from Anna. She's decided to dedicate herself even more to magic, diving headfirst into her studies and honing her skills. It's comforting to know that she's found her own path and is determined to move forward, just like us. Magic has always been an important part of her life, and now more than ever, it seems to be her source of strength and purpose.

I walk towards Alaric, my heart warming at the sight of him working in the garden. But suddenly, a sudden dizziness washes over me, almost causing me to lose my balance. I feel lightheaded, my legs weak as if they were made of cotton. Luckily, Alaric is quick to notice, and he catches me before I fall to the ground.

"Are you okay?" He asks with concern, his face showing a mix of alarm and care.

I shake my head, still feeling dizzy. "No, something's wrong," I reply, struggling to understand what's happening to me. "I feel strange, like... like something's out of place."

I feel a pang of pain in my chest, as if something is pressing against it, and my head throbs as if it's about to explode. My stomach churns with a sense of nausea, and a sudden wave of heat envelops me, even though the day is cool.

Alaric looks at me with growing concern, his eyes searching mine for answers. "Is this related to your vampire condition?" he asks, his voice tense with worry.

I mumble an uncertain response, trying to reason through the fog of confusion settling in my mind. "I don't know... maybe?" I murmur, my voice sounding weak even to my own ears.

The feeling of discomfort persists, as if something is shifting inside me, something I can't understand or control. I'm intrigued and scared by these new symptoms, and the uncertainty of what's happening only heightens my apprehension.

I squeeze Alaric's hand tightly, seeking comfort in his presence as I try to recover from the sudden malaise. He looks at me with compassion, his expression reflecting concern and a desire to help.

"Let's go back home," he suggests, guiding me carefully along the path. "It might just be tiredness or stress."

I weakly agree, allowing myself to be led by him as I try to ignore the unpleasant sensation that persists within me. As we walk back to our house, I can't shake the feeling that something is changing, something beyond the physical, something that shakes the very essence of who I am.

We rush back home, worry weighing on every step. Alaric is by my side the whole time, holding my hand tightly as if afraid I'll vanish if he lets go.

Once we're inside, a wave of weakness washes over me. Alaric guides me to the couch as I try to focus on controlling the consuming discomfort. He kneels before me, examining my face carefully.

"Are you okay?" he asks, his voice filled with concern.

I nod, attempting to force a smile to reassure him, but I know I'm not convincing anyone, especially not myself.

"I'll be fine," I say, despite the doubts plaguing me.

But then, a overwhelming wave of nausea hits me, and I rush to the bathroom. Alaric follows closely behind, his face a mask of worry.

I barely make it to the toilet when the vomiting hits, but what comes out is far from ordinary. It's blood, a frightening amount of blood, pouring from my mouth and staining the floor. Horror washes over me, and for a moment, everything seems to crumble around me.

I ask Alaric to leave the bathroom, needing a moment of privacy to deal with this terrifying situation. He hesitates for a moment, concern etched on his face, but finally agrees and closes the door behind him.

I feel weak and dizzy, the world spinning around me as I try to steady myself. My mind is a blur of fear and uncertainty, unable to comprehend what's happening to me.

Then, a new wave of pain hits me, much more intense than before. I feel engulfed by a growing darkness, my body becoming heavy and weak. Everything blurs around me, and my legs give out beneath me.

Before I can grasp what's happening, the darkness swallows me whole, and I surrender to unconsciousness.

When I finally regain consciousness, I'm lying in my bed, the soft light of the room enveloping me. Alaric is by my side, his face tense with worry as he holds my hand gently.

"You're awake," he murmurs, relief evident in his voice. "How are you feeling?"

My mind is still foggy, the memories of the fainting spell and the sickness still fresh in my mind. I struggle to formulate a response, trying to make sense of what happened to me.

"I still feel weak," I admit, my voice a fragile whisper. "And I'm still a bit dizzy."

Alaric nods understandingly, stroking my hand with a comforting touch. "Maybe it's best to call a doctor to check you out," he suggests. "We can't ignore this."

I feel a pang of anxiety at the thought of involving a doctor, fearing what they might uncover. But I know Alaric is right; I can't ignore my health, especially after such a serious episode.

Reluctantly, I agree, allowing Alaric to leave to summon a doctor. As I wait, my mind is filled with questions and fears. What could be wrong with me? Is it something serious? And what does this mean for our future?

Alaric's trusted doctor, an elderly and experienced man, examines the test results with a serious expression. He makes some notes in his chart before rising and walking over to me with a stethoscope in hand.

"I'll need you to listen to this, Alaric," he says, offering him the stethoscope with a grim look.

Alaric freezes, his expression shifting into a mix of shock and apprehension. He takes the stethoscope with trembling hands, approaching me cautiously.

The tension in the air is palpable as he places the earpieces in his ears and presses the diaphragm against my chest. His eyes widen with surprise and disbelief as he listens intently to the sound echoing through the stethoscope.

The doctor watches in silence, his face a mask of concern as Alaric removes the stethoscope and steps away from me, stunned by what he's just heard.

The ensuing silence is deafening, filled only by the sound of our irregular breaths. We know something has changed; I'm getting nervous, apprehensive. Could my transformation have somehow affected me, causing these reactions in my body?
