Chapter 38
Calen and i spent many days alone in the suite, He was teaching me, showing me how I could control the thirst around others, So that I won't hurt anyone when we eventually leave, not that I want to, I love spending time alone with him, I love to just being close to him.
He was everything I could've ever dreamed of. I was proud to be a part of his family. To be the princess of the Royals. He mentioned that one day we would be king and queen, but I wasn't bothered about that.
As long as me and him were together, I would do anything, And now that most of the chosen army have been defeated, We will have more time for each other. We didn't have to be so scared all the time, or should I say I do not have to be scared all the time, But even if someone came and attacked, we were ready.
Even without my powers, I could handle my own, he has shown me how to move, how to feed, how to attack; He has shown me everything I needed to know and more.
"Do you think you are ready to leave this room?" he asks me, Slightly sitting up from where we had been cuddling on the sofa, watching some show, I didn't know on Netflix. "You know that we can't hide away forever."
"I wish that we could, it would be so nice, just to stay here, just you and I." I said I was a loud sigh, trying to hold him closer to me, like he would vanish at any moment
Truthfully, I was ready, and I had been for a few days, but I just don't want to admit it, I didn't want to have to face the world, or more importantly, I didn't want to face his people.
He laughs, kissing me on the top of my head, something that he does quite often show me affrection. "I know just how you feel, but we have a duty to the people here, and i don't think we can avoid going out there any longer. It wouldn't be fair to them all or to us."
"you really think I won't hurt anyone?" I ask, Apprehensive about leaving our cocoon behind.
He nods, his voice is soft, and his words, gentle. "I know that you won't hurt anyone, you have progressed far greater than anyone else I've ever seen. Faster too"
Just as we finish speaking, a knock sounds at the door, princess Celeste barging in as though she knew I would be here. She rushed all the way towards me and jumped onto my lap, Startling the Prince and i.
"you promised me that when you become my sister, we would have sleepovers. You promised." she shouts, Crossing her arms as she sits on my knee, Looking up at me with big wide eyes, Tears hiding just beneath her eyelids.
The Queen came rushing in after, Clearly worried for her little girl, but I don't think she was worried about me exactly, just thought of if i was ready for company. "I'm so sorry I couldn't stop her." it says in a panic, "if you are not ready, I can take her away."
i smile, "Actually, the Prince and I were just talking, And we have decided it was time did I leave this room. I have been hiding away for too long."
The Queen smiles triumphantly, voice rising slightly as she speaks. "oh, I can't believe it. We have been waiting so in patiently for you to be ready." she frowned slightly. "not that it was taking you too long, We just couldn't wait to see you."
"It's alright." I said cheerfully. "I know exactly what you mean"
I look down at the little girl sat on my lap, the excitement on her face exquisite, and it made me think that one day I will have my own children, the prince and I have a little feet running around, and the thought of that alone made me happy. A few weeks ago I knew I wasn't ready for such a thing, but now? That has all changed. I couldn't wait for our future together.
I couldn't wait for the future, And for someone that had given up a long time ago, that was something very special. But then again, so is this family, they had taken me in with open arms and accepted me for who I was, It doesn't matter about my past, it doesn't matter about some Vow or promise made Years & Years ago, all that mattered to them was who I was.
"How about we have a sleepover in a few weeks? I don't want to disappoint you little princess, but I might need a little more time before I am ready for that, I hope you don't mind." I hug her tightly, Careful to hold my breath, so I don't smell her blood. "I hope that doesn't disappoint you. We will always be sisters from now until the end."
The young girl looked up happily, her eyes showing the strength she held beneath them. "I have waited for years to have a sister, A few more weeks won't be anything compared to that."
She sounded so grown-up when she said that that I had to do a doubletake, she may only be six years old, but she has seen and being shown so much, more than any child should've. and yet, She held it all within her, she had such strength. She held herself with great power and she was not a full vampire yet.
She was going to be a great Queen one day.
"it's a deal then." I laugh softly rising to my feet with her in her in my arms and spinning around. "a few more weeks and we have our first sleepover." I shout excited.
What? She doesn't realise how much I need this too, after we lost our parents, my sister never did anything with me, she was too busy, focusing on keeping us safe.
whilst i knew why she had to do that, I lost so much of my childhood and so did she. We both suffered. We both lost everything that night.
Celeste runs off when I put her down, skidding out of the room as fast as she came in, the Prince and I laughing as she went, while the queen looked mortified once more.
"that girl is going to be the death of me." she says Mostly to herself before turning towards me. "You make my daughter so happy, without you she wouldn't even be here, You have no idea how much this family Owes you for that, We can never repay that price, You gave Your mortal life so that my daughter could live."
i blush shyly, not entirely sure what to say to that, so I said the only thing I could, the truth. "I will do it all again, if it meant that she would live."
The Prince squeezes my hand, taking me and his arms. "we know you would, You don't have to tell us."
"you have already shown as what a wonderful person you are, we need no more proof." the Queen said joining her son in my embrace. "I am proud to call you, my daughter. And I am happy you are a part of this family. Though I always knew you would be."
"oh yes, The ramblings of my great grandmother."
We all laughed at that.
Looks like I was finally getting my humour back.
