Chapter 23

It didn't take long for Edward and i to exchange blood, and then he lifted me up into his arms and carried me out of the cell, clearly knowing that my legs wouldn't be able to hold me especially when i couldn't even eat the food that i was given, to be honest, i wanted to do nothing more than sleep, i felt weak and deflated, like my body could not handle much more. though i guess that was true, my body probably would not be able to take any more of the abuse that the vampires may throw my way.

But i had no other choice than to try and be strong, if Edward ended up needing my help if we were spotted then i had to be ready, i couldn't just sleep and let him handle all of the danger alone, that wouldn't be fair; and besdies, i didn't know how strong he was, so i didn't even know if we would surive an attack.

Although i suppose for him to get this far he needed to have some sort of skill, being a vampire meant he was naturally strong, and i suppose he would have killed thousands of immortals and mortals alike over the years, depending on how old he was. The underground complex was a maze, and nothing like the city i thought it would be, we has been walking for what seemed like hours and we seem no closer the the surface, though i suppose i wouldn't be able to tell either way.

I wanted to tell Edward to move faster, but I didn't know how, I didn't even know if he would listen or if he would tell me to shut up as the other immortals had, i didn't really know him, i knew no one in this world except for those who killed my sister, as i wasn't about to ally myself with them. no way.

"We are almost there, you might want to close your eyes, otherwise the light will burn." Edward said blandly, carefully adjusted me on his shoulder, making sure that you wouldn't be able to drop me.

Though I doubt he would've anyway, It wasn't like he would get tired or that his arms are failing him. All of the vampires are strong, they didn't even need to breathe, Surely that spoke of some sort of strength, I wasn't exactly sure what kind. I knew that if I crossed him, he could snap my neck in an instant, but I also knew that I could defeat him if I use my power, so I suppose we write some sort of stalemate, Whether we liked it or not, we were stuck together, for however long it took to get his clan.

I don't think I really doubt his ability to get me out, but rather that I was scared that we will be captured, I didn't know what they do if they found us, or I suppose what they would do to him for breaking me out. I don't know why but I didn't wanted to be hurt even though I was one of them he had never hurt me, even when he had the chance to destroy me he didn't. that has to count for something, it has to mean something.

he opened the door that I didn't even see, It was hidden in the wall, with no handle, so there was no way of knowing it's exact location, unless you already knew it was there and you knew how to open it. As soon as it pulled away from the wall, the sunlight rushed in, blinding me as he said it would, but I couldn't help but look, I couldn't remember the last time I seen the sun, or felt its warmth on my skin.

I tried to climb out of Edwards arms, to run into the light, but he held me tightly.

"Don't run off so soon, they could still be watching us. We've come too far to be caught now." he said, though his voice was strangely soft, it's like in knew what I was feeling.

I suppose He probably did, we had exchanged our blood so that we wouldn't be caught, I already knew the side effects of such a thing, but I did it anyway. Maybe it would be worth it, for now, I wasn't so sure, but I will find out soon enough.

I noticed that we were on the side of a mountain, and the entrance looks like a cave, Edward was careful as he carried me down; It was almost as if he was hiding me from view. I wonder if they knew we were gone yet, if Theon was going out of his mind with anger, if we were caught now, there will be no going back, we would probably be killed. Yet freedom was so close and i could taste the air, i wanted to dance in the sunshine and bask in the light, but i didn't have time for that.

i knew that we had to go away from here as fast as we could, we couldn't even leave the Trace that we were here behind, Yet, if we took any longer, I was certain that we will be captured. We couldn't let that happen.

i look up at Edward, his eyes looking around frantically. "How are we going to get away? are you going to use that strange fastness thingy you guys have?" i ask, scared and tired.

"I have arranged a ride, but they are late." he says sadly, We both know what would happen if we were here much longer.

"can you contact them?" i ask, fear glazing my tone.

He bobs his head, pulling a mobile phone from his pocket, he dials a number i cant see. "ETA?" He asks the faint voice that answers.

He places the phone back into his pocket.

i tap his shoulder when he says nothing. "Are they coming?"

He point to our left, a car speeding up the road that leads down the mountain, "That is our ride."

i watch, knowing that at the speed the car was going it was a vampire that was driving, my fear spiking. "Are you sure they wont hurt me?"

"i would bet my enternal life on it, the driver is my brother and your betroathed."
