Chapter 51: Mary

“Don’t fucking touch me!” I yell at Asher as he reaches his hand out towards me, the magical fire in his hand leaping beside me, igniting the candle that was on the bedside table.

“I don’t think you understand what’s going on here.” Asher sneers, “You aren’t in control here. You’re my captive. Mine to do what I want, when I want with.”

“Touch me and Nikolai will shred you to pieces.” I yell spitting at his feet in disgust.

“Your mate isn’t coming for you, your highness. He’s lost control of his vampire. Soon he will be a ghoul without any care in the world.”

I feel a shiver run through my body at the thought of Nikolai turning into a ghoul. Goosebumps cover my entire body. No, I wouldn’t begin to stray down that path. Nikolai was strong, both physically and mentally. He had watched his mother go down the path of destruction. Nikolai wouldn’t allow himself to wander down the same path.

“If you think that, then you truly don’t know my mate.” I hiss out leering at the Alpha.

Asher approaches me quickly, grabbing my face, squeezing my jaw in his hand. “Your mate will not find you before I’ve had my way with you.

His hand tightens, his fingers and claw like nails digging into my skin. He stares deeply into my eyes, as his face comes closer to mine. It looks like he’s leaning in to plant his dry, rough, cracky lips against mine. Just before his lips can reach mine, I throw my head foreword, pulling my face from his grip, the top of my head colliding with his mouth and nose. Asher lets out a howl of pain as he takes a step back from me, his hand covering his nose that is now dripping blood. His eyes were swirling with golden flakes, his wolf pushing to the surface. I needed to get out of here, I needed to try and escape. If I just sat here and waited for Asher’s nose to heal, his beast would break through and kill me.

I quickly spring from the bed. My legs are still wobbly and my head is spinning, but I can’t let that hinder my performance. I needed to get away from here, quickly. Asher is still howling from pain I caused him as I try to navigate my way through the pitch black room. I let out a tiny whimper as my knee bumps into something, causing my leg to jerk to the right. I don’t have time to feel the pain though as I keep trudging forward. Surely the room couldn’t be this big. I feel around blindly, hoping to reach a door knob soon. My hand smacks into a wall, pain shooting through my wrist and up my arm. I frantically swipe my hand across the wall, trying to find the door.

I quickly take a glance behind my shoulder, hoping to catch a glimpse of Asher’s eyes to see if he’s gaining on me yet. I shiver as a cold chill runs down my body, every hair on the back of my neck standing straight up, my heartbeat accelerating. Asher isn’t behind me. He isn’t anywhere that I can see. The room is completely black now. No fire lit up by the beside, no floating glowing orbs.

“Mary, the more you try to run, the more my body craves you. Don’t you know not to run from a wolf your highness. It makes the hunt that much more thrilling,” Asher voices, his words firing my belly, giving me the motivation I need to continue my plan for escape.

My breath rushes through me when my hands grasp a knob. I send a prayer to whoever may be up above, that this is the knob to outside the room and not leading somewhere else. I slowly turn the knob, hoping the door doesn’t let out a creak as I push it open. Light pours into the room, and I let out a scream. Asher is right on my heels, he’s half shifted, and his hand, which has sprouted claws is extended out, reaching for me.

I hurry forward and slam the door behind me, my hands shaking, adrenaline rushing through my body as I try to lock the door. It won’t hold Asher for long, not with his werewolf strength, and the fact that he’s an Alpha making him stronger than most.

I jump a little when I hear Asher slamming his body against the door. “Open the door your highness, you’ll regret it if you don’t.” He chuckles, his voice tinged with anger.

I ignore his statement. Turning down and running down the corner. I have no idea where I’m going, but anywhere would be better than allowing Asher to find me. The halls are eerily quiet as I run through them, veering left, then right, then left again. I expected a pack-house to be more lively, but it seemed like Asher and I were the only two here. Unless he hadn’t taken me to a pack-house. Could a house this big really be his home? I had heard that Asher’s pack was a poor one, was he taking the funds from the pack and using them for himself.

As I round the corner, I run into the burly chest of a man I haven’t seen before. Taking in his appearance, the bright green slitted eyes, the jet black hair, and the yellow scale like skin, I knew he wasn’t a wolf, but I couldn’t determine what kind of supernatural being he was.

“Woah there,” He said, putting his hands against my shoulders to straighten me, “What’s the rush, little misses.” His voice had a unique drawl to it.

“Uhh..I…uhhh.” I stumble trying to think of a lie on the stop. I couldn’t very well tell this gentleman that i was running from the Alpha who had kidnapped me against my will, for all I knew he was on Asher’s side. He may have even played a part in my kidnapping.

“Sir, please move. I really need to gather the supplies Alpha Asher asked me for.” I reply, trying to side step him.

He followed, my step remaining in my way, his hands still upon my shoulders, “You have a weird aura to you, what are you?” He asks.

“I’m just a lowly human sir, a pack-house slave.” I state without hesitation.

“Hmm… A pack-house slave,” He says look down on me, his eyes trailing down my body, his tongue wetting his mouth, as his bright green eyes, turned dark with arousal, “It seems Asher has decided to start picking from the bottom of the bottom of the food chain these days. Although I don’t blame him, I’d choose you myself. Although there is one thing, that makes me suspicious.” The man states, tightening his grasp on my shoulders, making me cringe in pain.

“What is that?” I groan out, tensing under the pain.

“Why would a pack-house slave be marked by a vampire, and why would she be dressed in attire fit for the Queen, who went missing only today.” He replied, a sinister smirk on his face.

I felt the blood drain from my face as I struggle to get away from him, my fists pounding into his broad chest. He doesn’t so much as flinch.

“Now, Now, Darling. Don’t worry your pretty little head. I’m not going to hurt you. I just want to know what you’re doing in the Alpha’s home.” The stranger stated, lowering his hands from my shoulders, and grabbing my fists in his.

“Let go of me!” I growl out, knowing that with this amount of noise Asher would soon find us.
